I was thinking the same. My kids are white. We didn't have extra money when they were younger for nike shoes. When they did get them they were happy but not going crazy. They were thankful because they knew it was not free. If my kids ever acted like this over free merchandise I would feel I failed them.
@@cs4201 I was the same way when my mother did buy me higher things. We grew up in the projects in New York. I just said thank you and appreciated it and kept it moving. I know the attitude is major bullcrap though because none of those kids NEED it. In the hood, you're either average like I was where you parents got you extra when they could, Nikes, Jordans etc was extra, you already had clothing and sneakers, the expensive brands were additional sometimey stuff. OR your parents were already dropping name brand on you on the regular. There were no legit poor kids where I was from in New York or most hoods I went to. The only kids going without had drug addict parents, alcoholic parents or lazy parents that did nothing much, but that's not the norm, those are neglectful parents. Most kids parents were average workers, and the big brands were just expensive which is perfectly fine to be average.
The kids were not poor, the parents had an issue or were lazy and neglectful. It kind of irks me when people act as if "the hood" is legit poor in America, that's not true, it's lower middle class, you have, you just don't have the luxury stuff and your position as a kid depends on what your parents do. So if your parents are lazy, you suffer, if your parents are average, you don't, if your parents are material possessive with more money, you get more, that's how it goes in the hood, you're not poor. You either have but not extra, have, but have enough with little luxury, or you have but have more luxury. Come to the poorest hood in New York, and you can't find a parking spot, everyone has jewelry, cellphone etc etc. How are we claiming poor? It's nonsensical. The kids acting hype about this is not due to feeling they lack, it's because a lot of the black culture in urban spots glorify brands and luxury, it's part of black urban culture. There's literally a rap song called "Air Force ones" from 2002 by Nelly, we all know it from the hood, we use to go to school singing it, it's about THIS exact sneaker. And sneakers themselves are a coveted thing as a culture for us blacks due to Hip hop and big city life like here in NYC or California, Chicago, Georgia etc.

I'm black, I don't agree with any group claiming victimization in the west or highly developed countries and I don't agree with the whining about being below poverty line because the poverty line in the West is a subjective topic of discussion. My mother was "below the poverty line" and yet she had an apartment, we always had food, raised in the projects, had clothing etc etc We have a crap ton of assistance in America. Is it ideal to be below the poverty line? No, but there's so much assistance that it's easy to get above it. My mother went from Welfare and working, to earning too much to get welfare working at a Movie theatre, cleaning old folks in Health and human surfaces field to a Director in the same field with a Masters degree in the 6 figure range. I went from working part time, to full time in retail, local Libraries, package deliverer etc to Senior Sales Data Analyst, and I dropped out of college, I make almost as much as my mother does with no degree, I work for a multi million Dollar Online Pharmacy and sales company, and my sister, just got back into Nursing school to be an RN. We're straight form the projects in New York.
I don't want to hear the crying about the poverty line or level from anybody especially in big cities. All you have to do is get welfare, work, and move around jobs until you grow your income OR get a state job, or trade, or college degree that is viable, it's temporary to be at or below the poverty line. Not to mention, I started a successful collectible toy company and made $8000 in the first 2 months solo, and I just started a Clothing brand, blog, Social media and trying to get my sister to get into Beauty Reselling AND my wife use to work which added to the overall household income so we were over 6 figures with me and her combined for awhile. I HATE the complaints about money and poverty from all people. Of course, if you're faithful and use your skills, God will provide and then some. You may even get undeserved favor.

Long story short each of my 7 siblings own lucrative business, their adult children some homeschooled and are now almost all (22) of our kids are married and went to college that didn’t brainwash them and they as well are hard working students 6 figure adults with 2-3 kiddos. We are sadly a divided family bc a few are hard left living on state tax payers money and yes they are in blue states. One is a local Union political hack living like royalty whose husband daughter and grand kids do no HAVE to work as they live off of the abundance of that sibling.

I am concerned about the double standards that exist when it comes to empowering young people. It seems that it is acceptable to empower young black children, but if a white person were to do the same thing for white children, it would be considered racist and white supremacist. This is a problem that needs to be addressed, as it is unfair and unjust. We need to create a society where everyone is treated equally, regardless of their race or ethnicity.

He's just using these kids to promote his Nike gear. Free clothing, free shoes, free backpack -- so kids can go out and brag and influence others to buy his Nike stuff. CK is only helping himself.

I want to tell something cool. I'm a white woman, just turned 50. I live in a beautiful neighborhood, but I am not rich. I have a friend who is a black male, also age 50, but he lives in what is the ghetto in ft. Myers, FL.
He told me that when he was about 17 he went to a white friend's house, a guy friend, and when he walked into his house, he couldn't believe how clean it was. He told me black people don't keep their houses clean, at least not black people that he grew up with. From that moment he decided that he would never live in a dirty home again. And to this day, he only has a one bedroom apartment right now, he keeps his place clean. It's not about how big or nice it is... you should keep your home clean no matter what it looks like. I LIKE THAT. 😊
