      FWD is superior for daily driving, RWD is too dangerous for public roads in my opinion.

    • @benjamincho4819
      @benjamincho4819 4 года назад +1

      Just buy a used FRS/BRZ/GT86 if you want an affordable RWD that is great to handle.

      I wish the tc/zelas was available in the uk.
      I dont even care about what wheels it puts power to.

      If the tc was rwd it would be more of an 86 than the gt86

    What is it with Americans and v8's everything seems as though it has to have one is it an inability to get power with anything else or what?

    • @Wildchildinc
      @Wildchildinc 10 лет назад +11

      Because it's cheaper to do and easier to find v8s in the states.

      Linear power delivery

  • @McFly2015AD
    @McFly2015AD 13 лет назад

    @Krondelo Torque is the twisting force of the tire. To find the force that the tire puts out, for example if there is 500 ft*lbs of torque at the rear axel and the tire has a 9" radius, the force that the tire can put down is 500*(9in/12)= 375lbs. Horsepower is the sum of torque supplied in a minute which also has to do with engine RPM, anyways the more torque an engine has the more force it has to break traction with the road and spin. V8's generally have high torque at low RPM and high RPM

    they should of put a 2jZgte in it "keep it in the family "

    • @jhalkoski
      @jhalkoski 9 лет назад +16

      +Bruck Antenhe the 5.7 v8 is from a Toyota tundra so yeah they kept it in the family. and why they chose a v8 was because of its length and power potential. being shorter then in inline 6 it kept a lot of weight off the front end, because of forumla D rules they can cut into the firewall so the opted for an engine that would sit as far back as possible to keep the weight balance as close to the center as possible

    @graknor Your are right that the design is old and is not a high tech design in general, but the new technologies incorporated into the old designs are very cutting edge. so you are both right in some ways.

    @tiger0tank One is the hand break. Extra large so they can lock up the rears on demand. Many exotics will have separate emergency brakes either a drum inside the disk or another caliper. In that instance is is to help keep the rear brakes from warping whne the e-break is set after a hard run.

    Yes, one caliper is the rear brake as per the normal braking system and the other is for the handbrake/e-brake.

  • @krayzeejojo
    @krayzeejojo 15 лет назад

    True. I've seen pics of the Drift Yaris, but no vids yet. But what I'm saying is that early on it doesn't automatically register in my head to expect a FWD car to be converted into a drift car, or even RWD to begin with. Now something like a Genesis tuned to drift is quite obvious. I'm sure I'm not the only one that already knew that was gonna happen =)

    More people use S15 in FD than you'd think, but in regards to using the cars you mentioned I imagine it being America, Toyota/Nissan/etc find it preferable to use cars in their current line to boost sales. They probably give a lot of support to those who use these cars like the tC/86/370z.

    @eaglesdood16 there just double calipers, when your rear tyres are spinning with that much power you need as much brake as possible to break the traction so you can slide

    It may not be a race car, but the new 2010s can do a 3rd gear burnout!!! wooo!!!
    Also, the body shape is very important to racing... Plus, I doubt the re-did the suspension geometry... I believe it has McPherson struts all around...
    I understand your comparison though!!!

    actually the tC has the same chassis as the Toyota Avensis/Caldina which has a turbocharged AWD Wagon version, so it should have been easy to bolt a rear drive system to the tC.

    one thing about this car is its been built into a drift car... they took it down to bare minimum then modified the chassis and rebuilt it into that monster of a car!!! compared to most drift cars that are simply modified without any real chassis modification other than a roll cage and weight reduction.

  • @unresolved777

    this V8 has like a 9200rpm redline, shift RPM's at 8800rpm with a 4spd gear box, so they are going more for the high reving power vs low end torque.... the gearing was set perfect for him to shift it high instead of low.
    anyways though it is a TRD Phase-9 engine people, 5.9L with 5867cc's 516whp @ 8000rpm and 376ft-lbs @ 6600rpm with LS1 coils too, and a Supra rear sub frame. pretty interesting machine of you ask me. original plans were for a Chevy small block V8 and Z06 Transaxle.

    4.1 liter Lexus, been around since the 90s...
    4.7 liter iForce, designed for the first generation Tundra/Sequoia/Lexus LX470...
    5.7 liter iForce in the new fullsize Tundra
    the two larger engines have variable valve timing and tunable intake plenums.

    @TUNDE88 They are making a new car that will be more focused on having a "lively rear end."
    It should be pretty good as they are basically designing that car to be kind of a stock drifter.

    @WelshyKid01 It just increases the braking force beyond what any single caliper could do. I've seen triple caliper brakes before, but usually its just for show more than anything. Maybe it is something to do with the e-brake system?

  • @NateDean
    @NateDean 15 лет назад

  • @TheBaaco
    @TheBaaco 14 лет назад

    @bitumen83 one is for braking, and the other for handbrake..and because of electronic if anything goes wrong with brakes, because brake callipers don't depend one of each other, but separatly..handbrake you just pull (no electronic)..

  • @Tenski77
    @Tenski77 14 лет назад

    Well I agree with you in a way, but still it makes it easier to drift you cant disagree on that. Anyway its a sport so doesnt matter how they do it at the end all sports make it easier by making there equipment a higher tech. Some will say old school is better some wont.

    TRD Pase 9 V8 enigne , 5.9 Liter engine 5867 cc's with LS1 (Vette) coils for the Ignition system...
    original choice for the engine was to use a Chevy smalblock V8 with a Z06 transaxle, but that would have required an extensive amount of fabrication to the chasis, and they were on a time budget to have it preped for 09 FD... interesting design they did through out the whole car, from the engine and 4 speed tranny use to the Supra rear subframe..

    couple of things you're overlooking, if i may. japanese racing isn't mostly rallying, in fact it mostly isn't. there is quite a lot of circuit racing series (super GT, Formula Nippon) nearly all the cars in japan's Super GT championship run v8's. and Mitsubishi pulled out of rallying years ago, subaru stopped after the 2008 season.
    3 different japanese makers have produced engines for Formula 1, from v10's and v12's to flat 12's to v8's now.
    they are not one-trick ponies.

    depends on what kind of race the motor is set up for, doesnt matter if its a v8.
    for drag racing motors are built with cams that are configured for the top end hp
    autocross/drift motors are built to have a nice midrange hp
    its the cam that sets where the motor makes power, on low end, midrange, or top end
    american LSx v8 motors are amazing, GM motors, not ford motors, they make more power then any japaneese motor. though granted american car/body isnt that great.
