Picked my g80 sport prestige last week have to say I agree with everything you said here Its just a super driving car with striking looks and awesome fit and finish. I was in a co-workers 2021 7 series and preffered my Genesis with exception of his twin turbo v8 kicking 550 hp I think My car is better and $50K less. The 375HP TT in this is no slouch 4.6- 4.7 0-60 and 13.2 1/4 mile. with rear steering and AWD in sport and sport + mode the car handles like a vehicle 6 inches shorter and 600 pounds lighter. I just did a 200 mile road trip and in eco mode (custom) I averaged 31 mpg highway (70-75MPH) to me this car is the perfect balance of comfort/luxury/ drivability/ style.
Great review! I purchased a 2023 G80 Sport Prestige and I love it. This car is amazing. I traded in my Audi A6, my German car. My car before that was a Mini Cooper Clubman S stick. I loved them both, but of course no comparison to the G80!
Thanks! I think a lot of people would like the sweet spot Genesis provides if they give them a chance. That said, they need to catch up on dealer network support ASAP. The number of irritated customer stories I hear on my various channels far exceeds anything similar in regards to other luxury brands.
Loved the review, I'm a newer Dad lol my Toddler is 3. I like you prefer a Sedan over suv or minivan. I own a 13 Passat that has been amazing, its roomy, comfortable but is at that place where I can spend a couple of grand on maintenance or trade up! Issue was I didn't know what to replace it with. I think this is it!!! Gorgeous vehicle this is and a great real world review. You sold me when you said you packed your daughter up and her friend and her mom and went down the rd and ALL were happy! Thanks for this kickarse review🤙🏾🙏🏾✅
Great job Jax I watched this twice now, you capture much of how I feel about Genesis. I feel like I am enjoying the best kept secret out there and want that special feeling to last forever. My first Genesis was a 2022 GV70 3.5t Sport Advanced Brunswick matte green and Vanilla beige interior and put 32k flawless miles on it. The color caught everyone’s eye and they would strike up a conversation with me and always get around to asking what it is. They would then say well, who makes Genesis 🫣 Three weeks ago I was blown away by a deal on a 2023 G80 AWD 2.5t Sport Prestige Makalu gray and Seville red. $6,300 off of MSRP and $52k trade for the GV70 and it was a no brainer. Enjoyed the GV70 for a year and a half and got into a 2023 and lost nickels in equity. All of this online, phone call and pictures for my first time. From 95 miles away they delivered the G80 and took the GV70 for free the day after Christmas, it felt like the good old days when the buyer had clout. You do such a good job of capturing the excitement I too feel about these products. Yes I’m now a subscriber after finding you. Hope you’re able to make a nice living doing these reviews for years to come 👍🏻
Thank you so much for the kind words! It's interesting to hear from someone who is not only an owner but an enthusiast for the brand. While I've heard the occasional pushback from people that the dealership experience isn't up to full luxury levels just yet, I would counter with your example (impressive service) and the fact that dealers in general are a let down more often than not, brand or price point be damned. What impresses me most about Genesis since I'm fortunate enough to drive a lot of vehicles is that they have really nailed down the special X factor that elevates true luxury brands beyond their competitors. The Germans do this well, along with companies like Land Rover, and now Genesis has entered the chat. I love rooting for an underdog, and I hope they continue this really interesting trajectory. Thanks for watching (again!) and welcome to the channel.
Great review & I totally agree with your opinions of the G80.I have had a 2016 3.8 AWD since a year old & I love it but it's a model T compared to the New 3.5 or for that matter the 2.5. I'm also a 12 year retired 31 year veteran MB Sales/Sales Manager. I still have a 96 SL320 that I enjoy from when Mercedes built the cars that were " Engineered like no other car in the Vorld" 😉.But today not so much. The G80 to me is closer to an S Class than an E in size & feel. Why not review a well equpped 2.5 & let us know if you think the 3.5 is worth all the extra $$? Thanks
Thanks for the thorough review of the G80. Sounds like my kind of car. I bought a G70 3.3 Sport Prestige earlier this year, and it's a great sport sedan. Very entertaining and competent. A useful gateway drug for the Genesis brand. Too bad it's not selling, but hopefully Genesis stays the course with its larger sedans in the American market. They do have great design and great cars at the moment.
I have a 2015 genesis awd purchased new and love it. Only 88,000 km and quality and build is fantastic. Unfortunately my dealership does not offer or keep up with this fantastic car which means I may go bmw 5 series route for better all round experience
There have been some similar comments on my Genesis reviews. I think it’s yet another example of why the traditional dealership model needs to die in favor of brand specific service centers. The middle man business model is done.
Genesis is a love hate relationship. The car itself outside the omission of wired Apple car play is great. Gas economy is not good, especially in sport mode which is my preferred setting. 375 hp twin turbo engine likely the best you will get at this price. However the brand and dealership situation is a mess. Getting through to these yo yos is hit or miss and the valet service is usually a 30-45 day wait. They really need to rethink what they are doing. As far as the car itself I’m good. Had the G90, now the G80 and both were great cars. The G-80 is the sweet spot.
Just bought the GV80 for my wife and we love it. My fear is the dealer experience with respect to maintenance. I've read that the scheduling can be a problem (weeks of wait time), and loaner cars are often an issue. We've yet to need maintenance, so we'll see. If the dealer maintenance experience is as good as the car I plan to buy a G80 for myself.
Nice! I hear this a lot. The dealer experience seems to be hit and miss for people, which Genesis will have to address to compete with Lexus. Hopefully, they’ll improve over time.
I think Genesis is getting to where they want to as a brand. I feel they're still somewhat tweaking the overall brand cohesiveness and fit/finish for each vehicle to get to fall in-line with the brand. That and they're still trying to get the stand alone dealerships setup. But I 100% LOVE their product catalog atm. Waiting to see what the future unfolds for them! :)
What's crazy is how FAST they've gotten to where they are. Just ten years ago they were making Genesis badged individual models with no brand identity; now they have an entire brand with a cohesive strategy and dynamics and tech to rival the Germans. It's incredibly impressive, and it should serve as a blueprint for Cadillac and Lincoln. Thanks for watching!
First time viewer ... great presentation of the G80 driving experience. I am seriously considering replacing my 2012 Infiniti M37x with the G80 Sport (based on all the good reviews) ... still need to book a personal test drive, though. My only potential concerns are long term reliability of the brand and the G80's quite portly curb weight... it weights 400 lbs more than my M37x (same class of car) and my (Japanese built) M37x's reliability has been superb (11 years old and 200,000 miles (315,000 km) ... and still rock solid... no sqeaks or rattles and everything still works like new).
Thank you! And that's understandable considering your long-term reliability experience. Genesis maintains the Koreans' penchant for generous waranties, which is nice, and their satisfaction and reliability scores via JD Power have been impressive, particularly compared to the Germans. I think they're still too new to make a direct comparison, but I'd probably be inclined to believe in Genesis' long term reliability over that of the German competitors. Thanks for watching!
It has some nice features and looks great and may have a bit more reliability than the European car makers but the drive is no where near them. I drove the G80 Sport a few days ago after driving a BMW 540 and M550. The BMW 540 with the M package and Dynamic handling drove some fine and the M550 is a sleeper M5. The genesis doesn’t have the agility and drive as you mentioned, if feels more like a lexus GS 350. I preferred the BMW drive and Genesis Value and reliability.
Weelllll… you sound like someone who appreciates the nuances of driving dynamics to the point that you’d probably know the difference, BUT… I’d argue that most people are not like you or I. Most people would be more wowed by the tech, materials, and value proposition, which is why the G80 is such a banger of a car. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Depends on the infotainment: the regular infotainment has wireless CarPlay, but the highest one (shared between top trims of Hyundai, Kia, and all Genesis) did not. That’s being phased in starting this year with the new Hyundai Kona.
Tough call. The GV has the versatility going for it, but the G80 is really pleasant to drive and even better looking in my opinion. I’d lean towards the G80, but I enjoy cars more than SUVs in general. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Haven’t been behind the wheel of one yet, so I’ll reserve judgement until I can test one. The G80 is supremely comfortable, though. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
That’s a narrow margin! The Germans and Cadillac CT5 probably split the difference, but you’ll pay the price for the better powertrain and handling packages.
Genesis is basically replacement of Lexus...they got really lucky when they recruited head designers from Bentley, BMW and Audi VW group..you get all package in one so people just loving it
This is true, but I think Genesis is dynamically superior, especially compared to most Lexus models from just a few years ago. They have Lexus materials and value with more German driving dynamics, which is a fantastic combo. The fact that they’re becoming increasingly stylish on top of that is just icing on the cake.
Excellent review !! The G80 Sport Prestige is gorgeous, but I needed an SUV so I bought a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige. Just had my painless first year service (they dropped a GV80 at my house) and I would buy it again tomorrow. I've owned "Jags and Germans" Genesis absolutely belongs, interior fit/finish matches anything IMO, and the tech is class leading and works. I have yet to see a bad Genesis review, the G70, GV70 and G90 all won various vehicle of the year awards. Keep up the great reviews.

Wow, now that's one heck of an endorsement! Thanks for watching. :-)
Couldn’t agree more
And it’s a shame that most people at five Mercedes-Benz is don’t know what this car is

Definitely not a bad choice if you want something roomy and comfortable but still engine big sedan cruising. Thanks for watching!
Just drove Boston to Michigan. Averaged 31.2 mpg doing 70+. Like it much better than my 2018 G90!

Thanks for the great review. Genesis are hitting home runs. Great looking well built luxury cars that perform well. Excellent value for money.
Absolutely! If the long term reliability pans out they are going to seriously upend the German establishment. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Great review :)

I live a few miles from a Genesis dealership. After seeing this video I may have to visit.

Is it me or do others find the front grille just too gawdy?
I could see that. It’s a strong statement for sure.
Who’s isn’t these days, you know? Audi huge, Lexus huge, had a BMW 440ix…huge.
@@vanceforrest4085 Maybe so, however Genesis seems to be even more bombastic, along with some of the BMW models.

G70 too small and G80 too big. I need a good sporty luxury vehicle. Something I can pick up a date and still hit a track in
