  • Preview - Alpha to Retail converter
    WIP showcase of the deleted levels into the retail pc version. This is the first attempt at bringing the alpha to content to the retail version using the Recombobulator tool by AesirHod. Link to this tool will be provided at a later date as it is still in development and some features have been disabled. The Undercity and Adda1 (original Oracles Cave entrance) levels in this showcase are from Feb 4th alpha build which have some visual texture glitches and will be replaced with an improved version.

    The whole atmosphere and the music of soul reaver is just mystical and fascinating it feels like the game was made by another race or rather something not from this world, a true relic

    Oh man, my biggest wish is that the Day/Night Cycle be restored and possible dynamic weather system be added in, that would be so sick.
    Those features looked so damned interesting to me.

    If Crystal do remaster the game with unreleased content. I hope they extend the Spirit Glyph area. If looks a bit too easy to get considering it would had been the most powerful glyph in the game.

    This game already felt wip back then when we didn't even know that it was cut. Still SR and even SR2 was one of the best vg ive ever played. Such an atmosphere and the story... Damn Im in love with this game.

      A few questions after watching this (i'm aware about the fact that the tool is still in develpment):
      1) Can be possible adding the other reavers and his habilities? We can see them on the April build.
      2) would be possible adding the April build lifebar? I think that design is interesting and better than the retail lifebar.
      3) The models from some enemies would be replaced? Alpha young Turelims looked cursed and amazing!!
      4) The dynamic music can be added?

      Also there's a final battle with Kain on the Mountain Retreat which ends with his soul being consumed thanks to the soul reaver.

    Sorry for incoming wall of text Raina.
    Undercity: Other than what I seen so far the location looks really interesting to explore but I got to wonder that in the full rework if this would be an optional area to explore or mandatory in the story? Because the Vampire Priestess's ability don't seem to be much compared to the other abilities you get later down the road. Still ever since the original undercity was kinda just there and all you got was a vauge cutscene about how shady the city was and nothing else. Cannot wait to see this fully playable and see the puzzles in action.
    Oracle's Cave Original Entrace: I like to think that original entrance to the cave would be connected to the constant cataclysms that Nosgoth was suffering from that opened once forgotten places like the Sarafan Tomb and the Oracle's cave. Or at the very least when you tried to go through the original entrance said earthquake would've buried the front entrace forcing you to use the entrance we see in the retail game.
    Spirit Glyph: I always thought the Spirit Glyph would be obtained after Rahab was taken out as I like to think that the Spirit Glyph allowed you to tear the souls any nearby vampire and immediately devoured it to prevent their escape to the spirit world. This would've been good to use in places where you need to do puzzles and wipe out any annoying vampire trying to get in your way. The reason I think this Glyph should be gained after Rahab is that I think a puzzle using the binding ability to unlock the main gate by matching the symbols to the door and using the lever to unlock the gate if you got the combonation right.
    Smokestack/Turel's Audience Chamber/Path to Kain's Retreat: Turel's Clan Territory was always the one place I wanted to explore the most because this one of the two most important locations that the Vampires would guard with their lives especially with the Turelim patrolling its grounds fervently and making sure that neither Raziel or any human could turn off the Smokestack which was literally the only thing keeping the fledgling vampires of Nosgoth safe as mere sunlight is enough to turn any Vampire of any clan into a piece of beef jerky. I like to think that this was one of the first stops at the mere end where Raziel would signal the beginning of the end for all Vampire kind by eliminating the smokestack to allow sunlight to finally break through to Nosgoth after roughly over a millenia of being heralded into eternal darkness. As you ascend the Smokestack you slowly begin to break down the machine to no longer allow it to blow out the smoke that is keeping Nosgoth's vampires safe and it eventually leads to you a very angry Turel after watching Raziel not only murdering his brothers but his own children would send him into an arrogance fueled rage. However during his rampage he fails to see that throughout the entire time Raziel has been pushing through he's been opening values leading to the very abyss he was tossed into the waters are just being held by a mere switch and Raziel taughts his brother into asking if he knew how to swim like Rahab before finally pulling the lever causing the abyssal water to flow through the chamber and Turel is subjected to the same hell that Raziel went through before his soul leaves his body allowing Raziel to gain the power of full powered telekensis which would be needed to activate the final machine leading to Kain's Retreat leading to Kain's final moments. Seriously seeing Turel's realm brings a legit smile on my face and I hope you guys take the time needed to make the area really special.
    Thanks for all the hard work to the guys behind this project. Sorry for the wall but these videos are something I look forward to and hope you guys stay safe and healthy.

      Hey! No problem, I got some answers for you :) I would recommend you to watch the Alpha Content playlist as we talk about this there.
      Undercity was compulsory and the main puzzle element was to visit three floodgates and open them, this would cause the water in the main chamber to rise enough to reach Priestess´s tower. Raziel would need shift at will there so this area would have come after getting part of Kain´s soul in the Chronoplast. Raziel then would need to posses Turelim on far ledges and open the gate to the Smokestack.
      The original OC entrace was matching up with Blood Omen. It was only moved when the Smokestack entrance was deleted from the valley.
      Spirit Glyph: You´d likely needed the possession here to sacrifice the vampire onto the altar as it was the last Glyph obtained.
      The Smokestack: Raziel has to power up the machinery, not break it down. Turel would be in his way and Raziel would use Turel´s powerful own TK powers to knock down pillars and water would pour through the cracked ceiling, killing him. The turbine is not moving at first, so Raziel needs to constrict three objects which will spin the orrery and that will in turn power up the turbine and create enough of an updraft to propel Raziel to Kain´s mountain sanctuary.
      I hope this clears it up :)

    FANTASTIC! is it all the content of the psx alpha versions (including dynamic music) or are the maps ported to the pc version?

    I just wanted to say, I just finished my first ever playthrough of Soul Reaver (I played it as a kid but we never got very far) on twitch, and whenever I got stuck, I decided to look up a walkthrough on youtube. I figured since the videos were fairly old, whoever uploaded them did that ages ago, and was probably not active anymore, but then I saw this pop up in my recommendations, uploaded the same night I finished the game, and I was like "hold on I know that uploader's username" and turns out you were my walkthrough saviour, so I thought I'd say thanks! (Also, we were JUST talking about cut content after the game. What a coincidence!)
    So basically this is a long-winded way of saying thanks for helping me get through Soul Reaver (and saving my chat hours of watching me run in circles after missing an obvious lever or not noticing a window in a shaft of light or something).

    You guys are absolute titans 🙌 This is already an outstanding engineering effort within a very difficult task and the dedication towards this project is amazing.     Look seem like hard level puzzles bridges in Undercity and Turel’s area than puzzles in Dumiah (Tall guy boss) or other glyph puzzles…
    I think lava can kill Raziel because too hot .. it’s nothing happen lol 😅😅😅

      In the alphas there's no hurt/death animation for Raziel, but it works with enemies.
      Maybe they can fix that on the new upcoming version of the game. But i wonder how the lava can kill Raziel inmediatly... Because he's already dead; i can't imagine Raziel being hurt by the lava.
      The Undercity had more weird puzzle logic than the Smokestack; this last one is easier.

    Really conflicted remembering the atmosphere of this game. On one hand I loved everything about and on another I remember grinding my teeth because of all the damn bugs that the game had.

      There are two types - knee depth fire pit which would most likely be one hit kill and the lava with cracks which would likely drain his health.

      Not at the moment, several issues need to be sorted out first. There is the alpha PS1 version available, though.

    They could have reused those assets and restored them for a Director's Cut remaster for SR1 but nope they're giving us the retail game instead which is a major disappointment.

    01:00 If you fall there without a portal to the material world, then you can’t get out. Therefore, it was cut from the game. 🙃

      Raziel was supposed to have shift at will there so no portals were needed.
