Check with the Marie before lighting any more bonfires. Most prefectures have their own regulations regarding burning garden waste and many ban them between May and October.
The Swedish meatballs looked delicious! Getting rid of the cattle fences made a huge difference in the appearance of your land ❤ love your black cats. The singing in the shower 😂😂😂

Oh yeah, it is a cold wind now. We did have sunshine for a few days now, i truly hope it continues as we really don't need anymore rain 😂and that's putting it nicely i have some other words for it but those aren't RUclips safe ..

1/4 of a Citrus/ lemon, lime or orange will do. Squeezed and dropped in the cup, a little bit "use your intuition" of locally sourced honey, a good pinch or two of turmeric or couple pieces turmeric root, couple small pieces ginger root, a little pinch of black pepper, 2-6 cloves...Then add hot water, mix with loving intention and appreciation for your health❤️
...Also in the thick of winter we add a smidge of cayenne pepper👍
Occasionally I add Apple cider vinegar splash too 😅(Mrs. Bloke)

Luckily, you do have the most wonderful bike path right outside your door to use for exercise. The bath house appears to be a very utilitarian and handy addition. Doesn't it feel wonderful to not only accomplish something, but have something visible to mark your efforts! Well done!

I saw the rain and my heart dropped a bit thinking that you guys can’t catch a break with that rainy weather! But the sun did come out and then we were serenaded with an eclectic mix of songs and then all was well in the world 😊

I didn't realize how much it rains in Normandy - I've never seen rain like that before - of course I'm in Northern California, but we've seen at least 10 atmospheric rivers this winter. It's beautiful today - 80 degrees - sorry, Mr. Bloke! The cherry trees are beautiful, as are the lovely wildflowers on the property. And the Swedish meatball dish, with veggies, looks delicious. And I must say that you (Mr. Bloke) looked like you needed a nap after that massage!

The only good thing about soooo much rain is that the ground is easier to work with. Heavy but still, easier. I know because I am doing some heavy work in the garden and am very thankful that the ground isn't dry yet. Little jobs make life pleasant. Great stuff. Best wishes.

Just watched yr 1st video on yr journey to France. What a small world it is! I had just retired - my first of 4 stores was in Middleburg , for 35 years a stones throw from the garden shop in yr video. Of course, 35 yrs ago the area was much more rural n the 'burg' was completely different. Poor Chubba Bubba! I expect he was pretty sore the next couple of days pulling the chubba way up that tree! You two are doing fantastic work on your place - but yes, take care of yourselves and rest! All in due time... Sister and I doing much the same now retired.. Less major renovations. Lot of hard yet happy work. Blessings to u both. 😊

Hello lovely people. Not sure if you have already heard of, or even considered it, but building dead hedges could put a lot of that waste branch material to great use. You could section off areas with them, use up a lot of waste without the need to burn it and create thriving natural habitats for insects and birds. They also look pretty cool. 😉 xx

Cutting and stacking branch wood and twigs for winter heat , crushing sundried branches uses wood fire fuel . It's sad to burn without heating when heating is always a need. Just saying. I heated and cooked many years in a row off burn piles. You can too.
We were burning the old rubbish wood from around the property. All the good stuff we're saving!

Why not use the wood for kindling for a fire or log burner that you will have in the renovated house
The stuff we are burning is junk/rotted/weed wood etc

Front of property looks nice and tidy but can I ask when are you planning to put in all the drainage to avoid all the winter floods you had??
The gutters solved most of the problem. Our ditches kept the remainder from the house. We are now slowly digging vertical soak aways to fix the remainder of the problem. No rush now! No need to tear up the place👍
It's all coming along nicely.. much better without all those fences and posts restricting that lovely view 👍

Yea! Thanks for watching! Yes - the main house will be done in beautiful French Country Style but - that is a way off - we have a lot of infrastructure to put in place first and long overdue maintenance!

however why burn wood? better to keep all organic matter and nurture your soil.
mulch it and cover you veggie beds (if you start them).
mulch it and compost it, ask neighbour farmers for some manure to enrich the compost piles (also use the grass clippings).
use the Hügelkultur (look it up in the English Wikipedia with this original German word) to create more soil, in raised garden beds or simply on beds to grow veggies or flowers.
but please don't burn, it's so bad for the environment.
The wood we burned was old rubbish wood and some weeds, we must have not made that very clear. We are keeping all the cuttings from the trees and making firewood and yes wood in the compost too 😊 (Mrs. Bloke)

Regarding your visas, can you not go to the uk or border hop and then come back to France and have a new temporary visa ? Could you go and see your parents mr bloke do they live in the uk ?
You only get 3 months which we already have after our long term visa's expired! My parents live in Spain, so no good for visa !👍

The cats aren't into birds, I probably feed them too much. The cats have gotten some mice - We don't like to see anything killed, so I have told the mice to run to the fields....thanks for watching :)

The grounds were very unloved and we need to clear. Before we can begin the house we also need to put in a septic and some infrastructure - driveway and we need a new roof.
