Marie really out does herself with the meals and her floral arrangements. Everything is so beautiful! You may have to call in a specialist to capture the fox and relocate him because of Lancelot and the new chickens.
Agree. Think that must be done.
The fox should not be captured, it belongs in that area where its home is. With living in such close proximity to wild nature foxes are to be expected. Just keep an eye on the dog and keep the chickens out of reach, every farmer knows this.
All I can say is yay for Natty she's got one hell of a man
Loving that they found each other ❤
I think he got one hell of a woman too! ;D
That section of their loving chit chat was so sweet
@@JustSaralius He sure did! A woman that will "roll up her sleeves" and go in to help........a rare bird these days!
@@marytaylor9185 is it rare? I know SO many women who do just that every day of their lives. I know very few women who sit by while a man does the hard work.
Marie, I hope you know how truly special you are.
She is, truly truly so talented and such a sweet spirit 💕
Agree 100%!
OMG, so so much talent and skill in one really lovely person. Her plating and presentation is really something very special, and combined with the gorgeous dinnerware collection and fresh flowers - well, it is a marvel!
I've watched some of the older videos. She has really "blossomed".
I totally agree. Annalise would look amazing in a painting in the gazebo❤!!! That was picture perfect😊!!!
Didn't she look gorgeous?? And the dress reminded me of Emilie Flöge's designs. Very romantic and beautiful! 🥰
She does look so pretty. The Gazebo is an enchanting place.
Oh no I'm heart broken over the loss of your sweet chickens.
It is no wonder that Reynard the Fox is the cunning villain of classic French Tales
@@billymeyer99 ...and yet foxes are part of the natural wild environment ...whereas chickens have been bred to be farm animals and give us eggs ...and chicken if one eats chicken. If they were only egg-laying chickens I can understand how people can get emotionally attached to them ...plus they were beautiful, even exotic.
Sorry for the loss of chickens. Those painters are so good at their craft.
The restorers are true professionals!
Artists ❤!!!
Hi, great video as always !!!! Sorry about the chickens , they’re like family :( I love the music when you were taking about them and the cement blocks were being delivered, what is the name of the lady singing the song !!! Very nice voice , but not as beautiful as Stephanie‘s voice !!!!! Thanks for all the videos
Why is it we never see Kirsty anymore? She was always a ray of sunshine on the vlogs.
I feel she has other jobs...there is the new (extra) gardener in Lalande.....
And it is always great to see Annalise
Don't ignore the fox situation, because now, your place is their good hunting ground, so they will keep on coming, looking for any prey, meaning the peacocks, Lancelot, Ruby... But also all small wildlife in the gardens and woods.... The foxes probably have alot of growing young ones to feed...
My thoughts as well. Yes it could be a female with kits.
Fox can easily jump a 4 foot fence. I see them do it. They can also climb trees (probably with rough bark). And they can get on a roof if there’s something to climb.
Get a donkey. It will protect them all.
@@tracypaddy4002 I was going to suggest geese - they're more vicious than guard dogs
Be careful with Lancelot outside ❤ and the 🦊 We love him as much as you do Stephanie and Philip. Maybe get some Geese or Swans. They are noise makers. Love the idea of the Donkey but also a lot of responsibility. Maybe add some trip alarms and spot lights in the walled Garden and a few Reolink cctv cameras around the premises that you can monitor from your phone.
I am beyond impressed with Maries culinary skills in combination with her floral arrangements! 🌸💙🌸
And Philip’s plates! So gorgeous!!
I miss seeing Stephanie decorate rooms and do projects from begininning to end. I enjoyed watching her process and hearing her ideas...💛✨
I really think that the "problem" with this room is the wallpaper. I think the pattern is too busy, too *much* for the room with all its angles and interesting architecture. I think you need a calmer paper (less contrast, and a larger repeat) and lighter colour in this room.
unfortunately the flowers look like cannabis leaves
@@Motherhubbard170all I see tbh 😂
I also thought that the wallpaper looks too modern for the antique beds. It just doesn't work.
True
😂@@Motherhubbard170
Please be careful with Lancelot with that fox being around. He's so tiny even some types of raptors could swoop down and pick him up. So sorry to hear about the chickens, I know some of them you had since you started your vlogs and they were beautiful.
Large raptors live in mountainous regions, the Alps and Pyrenees, Foxes almost never attack dogs- more like the other way around, Even a small dog would be safe unless it threatened the fox's babies
Lancelot is no longer as small as he was. He is fast and agile and would no doubt fearlessly chase away any fox he saw. Foxes are not coyotes, nothing like them, They are usually shy creatures that avoid conflict. Unfortunately however, poultry are very vulnerable to foxes and need to be contained securely for their own safety, The dog will be absolutely fine
An owl almost grabbed my Yorkie when was walking him on a leash & I didn't even see it, I just felt the movement of air. It was just after dusk & his name was Dusky!
My brother just lose his yorkie to a coyote. He still has one left, and he takes her out to go to the bathroom because of eagles and turkey vultures. The other dog got out because a visitor left a door open. He was gutted.
The Peacocks may be next, once the fox knows they are there😩 hopefully they will fly away from it though🤞. 🥰🙋🏼♀️
@@marshawargo7238the same almost happened to my puppy when going out for a before bedtime pee!! My other dog alerted me just in time to jump in front of him, from between 2 bushes, as a huge “Powerful Owl” silently swooped down!! . The strength of its wings flapping as it flew off created such a strong breeze it blew my hair! Very scary for him & me!
The wallpaper looks like Marjuania leaf but blue 😂
I thought so too! Find it way too busy
I LOVE, LOVE how you decorate, but am I the only one who thinks the new wallpaper looks like thousands of pot leaves?
You are definitely not the only one 😂
That painting does not go well in that room. There should be a room just for his paintings. The style and decor of your chateau calls for either a beautiful soft portrait or pretty landscape. Not trying to offend.
So sorry about the chicks. Poor little Nancy and her friends. 💔 Circle of life … ❤️
A rather hardnosed guide to home chicken raising, which I listen to on a podcast, puts it like this: "Wherever there is livestock, there will eventually be dead stock."
Please be careful with Lancelot while he is outside and also on your walks as he would not survive a run in with a Fox. Especially since they are attacking during the day
Even a small dog is not in danger from a fox unless the fox is cornered or its young are threatened.
He should be safe as long as an adult is with him. We haven't gotten all of the phrases like sly as a, sneaky as a, & others indicating that they do their shifty shenanigans with no one to witness it! The devils😈 😡!!!
Foxes don't attack dogs, or cats. In fact one of my previous cats used to play with a fox cub. The cub would wait in the garden for her and they go off together. Went on for a year until the fox was hit by a car.
They will kill chicken s however, not be sure they are killers but because an accessible chicken run is their equivalent of stocking up on a special offer at Costco.
@@marshawargo7238 No, there're not! I have foxes and have no issues. This time of year they are feeding their young! That's why they are out in the daytime! I lost cats, kittens, poultry: chickens, heritage ducks and geese to my neighbors dogs never to fox. Yes, Lancelot should be watched never out of your sight. That is a given. Good management of your livestock and poultry is one's responsibility. Don't blame the predator for following their nature. The wild animals all suffer from loss of habitat worldwide thanks to us. I sincerely hope there is no retaliation against the foxes and their kits.
@@donnaschmink1801 I agree stray dogs are the greatest danger to dogs and cats
🍃I want to apologize to Marie for some not so nice comments I made on her attitude on her birthday. I’ve regretted it ever since, ..we all have our off days, and possibly hers was around the time of the horrible chicken incident. I’ve made some very supportive comments about her in the past, and that’s what I truly mean. You’re the best Marie, & I’m sorry💚💚💚🌳
Having the courage and grace to say, ‘I’m sorry, I was wrong’ is so touching xxxx
It is nice to hear someone apologizing. I'm always sad around my birthday because my mother's is the day before and she passed away. I don't like celebrating it. You never know what someone is going through.
I do like the two smaller beds in there. Very nice.
It would be so cool if you turned one of the rooms in the chateau into a gallery for all your fathers paintings that arent on display. All of them are so beautiful and colorful they are like spring and to have alot in one room would just be a utterly magical experience.
What a great idea ,Even the hall ways so everyone could enjoy
I think the impact of each would be lost, better to spread them throughout the house. They are all "statement pieces"
Great idea! The ones that already have a place in rooms could remain there, but any that don’t currently have a place and are just being stored somewhere could be stored in a gallery area, so everyone can enjoy them and if they’re wanted elsewhere, they can just be removed and placed there.
I'm sorry Stephanie dad painting doesn't look good in that room pattern, it looks out of place there,
they reject two beds for reason of being wrong time period, but then add a more modern painting to bring in the colors. They want orange in that room and the color of the peacocks in the bed frame. '' Layering'' is her style. '' ecelectic''. She has lovely furniture and the fun part is revolving pieces around for a new look in her rooms. Blendibg them in to mke it work. ' House love ''
That wallpaper is so busy in that room, I personally don’t think the peacock headboards are suited for that room, nor your Dads gorgeous art work.
I like the headboards for the room but I have never been crazy over the colors picked for the trim and I agree about the Dads painting. The other art work that was first shown on the table in the middle looked amazing.
Stephanie…FYI Anna and Peter, former Chateau owners, had an incident at their current farm home where all their chickens were slaughtered by a single pine marten during the night. You may want to compare notes with them, and commiserate some with them, on what they did to combat the pine marten. I will also offer a comment I made to them to secure a couple of West Highland White Terriers to take care of and to rid you of the menacing carnivores, fox or pine martens, which is what they were bred for. I own two and they are very formidable with vermin. Hey…what’s two more dogs and they are very cute. Just my thoughts.
Now this is a great idea.
Thank you nlstevens1. I use my female Westie,Miss Scarlett, as my avatar. She has speed and brains, Skye, the other Westie, is a brute, and the better digger.
Terriers are the best little guards!!
Yes and it would be lovely for Lancelot to have some company. He seems to enjoy playing with the other dogs he meets. Bit of a worry with the fox and the Peacocks too. Where I live it’s feral cats taking little native animals and of course chooks.
It happens to my brother. The intruder is digging an hole under the grilled fence so, you have to fence the floor and the ceiling too then ciment the floor.
As all comments, mind your dog and peacocks and check with your nearby hunter committee how to exterminate the foxes
I can’t believe how much the chapel has come to life with the colors. Beautifully done ❤
Happened recently at another chateau. It is possiblly the season: mother's having their babies and thus hunting for easy prey.
It happened to the Newbys in Portugal on their farm as well ...although they think it was wild dogs.
So sorry about the chickens. And I am so sorry Marie had to find them...what a shock for her.
The wall paper reminds me of blue marijuana leaves... 😂😂
Your darling mother would have been devastated at the loss of the chickens. I remember her care of the tiny ones after they hatched
Those foxes have been living around the chateau and woodlands since before you came. They eat rodents and other small pests, and usually leave your cats and dogs alone. Since you recently lost a couple of your charming chickens 8 months ago, and last month found your chicken run decimated, I'm wondering if you currently have a mated pair who are feeding for their kits. The best solution in my opinion is to move forward with what you are doing: build an impervious chicken run and by no means allow the chickens to roam the walled garden when no one is working in it. It would be advisable to VERY carefully examine all the outer walls and entry points to ensure no tunneling under walls. It appears the walls are all much too high to be jumped over, other than the one the new chicken run material was lifted over, but isn't the moat along that entire wall? If not that low wall is an easy entry point.
This!, Cats and dogs are perfectly safe from foxes, they have lived alongside us for thousands of years. Its up to the humans to secure the poultry coops, Madame Le Renard just wants an easy takeaway,
But they don’t eat all the chickens! They get blood lust & just kill them all! I’ve seen it with my own eyes! Heartbreaking!
We lost four of our chickens to a weasel attack about four to six weeks ago. It had gotten in our coop in the morning before I had let them out in their run. It was absolutely devastating. We have them as pets and love them deeply. We thought they were safe in their coop and run, but didn’t have enough safety measures.
Thankfully we had another coop we built last summer. We quickly updated it with extra safety precautions. Now we are building a run onto the side. It should be completed in a week.
If you want to prevent more attacks I recommend you build an enclosed run with a underground apron. Use 1/8” hardware mesh. I didn’t realize weasels can get into spaces as small as 1/4”, and they hunt nightime and daytime.
Yes chicken were targeted and ducks this year in Ireland too. No rabbits for 3 years in our area, when there used to be an abundance.
With the fox being so brazen at attacking in the daylight you need to get rid of it. With Lancelot and the peacocks being easy targets.
I'm not sure if you have heard but the owners of Chateau de la ferte have sold the Chateau and the new owners don't want all the chandeliers that they had bought so only one of them is staying. If you need chandeliers, that's one place to find some pretty ones. Adrian and Carole are the current owners. Terry and Ashe know them.
The fresh vegetables arranged like a Floral bouquet of flowers was just beautiful.
I hope you guys are keeping Ruby indoors at nighttime.
Ruby is a barn cat
Ruby's a feral cat, never lived indoors.
I honestly think Ruby is too big and is safe from a fox. Plus cats are very keen on how to survive.
I'm so sorry for your chickens. Glad youre making their environment safe.
I'm so sorry to hear about the chickens. I'd been wondering about them and the sheep since I hadn't seen any of them in a while. Watching you for years and being invited into your life also means wanting to know the difficult things. I appreciate your sensitivity, but also as a regular viewer am interested in all aspects of your chateau life.
Where I live we had some pesky critters that were caught in a live trap then relocated a distance away. You might consider doing that with the fox(es).
Foxes are protected, this is not allowed in France.
The wall paper is so busy, keep the decorations simple.
Even the blue trim in this room is so bold, it throws things off.
The mixed patterns don’t blend well with the wallpaper.
Every challenge in this room goes back to the boldness of the wallpaper itself. It clearly makes putting this beautiful room together more difficult.
I'd paint the trim to a more pleasing off white. The blue trim on the window is too much.
Yes my only negative comment, the blue woodwork just doesnt blend well with the busy wallpaper. Def needs a paler contrast
It’s more important to be honest than just uplifting, so we feel we actually know who you are.
Sadly I think this is one of those times it may be necessary to find a trapper to trap and relocate the fox as he/she will keep coming back now that it has found there is “food” there. Not safe for Lancelot or Ruby.
An adult fox is about the same size as an adult cat, Foxes rarely ever attack dogs and cats. This comments section is full of people who think foxes are a savage big predator like a coyote, theyre not, Theyre small and shy and mostly scared of dogs and cats
@@ludovica8221 Pretty sure they won't go after Ruby, foxes are more opportunists and wouldn't want to fight with Ruby's teeth and claws. But little Lancelot may find their den and that could be a problem. Baby peacocks would also be vulnerable. I would get it trapped after they've grown their babies and have then relocated.
@@snoopybluejeans Agree , but foxes are everywhere. Where could they put them. I live on an urban housing estate and we have dozens here, ripping all the bin bags... never heard of any cats or dogs attacked though I have a feeling that if they ask fo help from French pest control it will be a guy with a gun
@@ludovica8221 better the fox than the pets & farm.
I’m so sorry for the loss of all the chickens. They were such characters. It’s very sad to hear this. Sending big hugs.
I've been watching the channel for a couple of years now and currently wondering if we could get some updates on the renovations of :
-the lake?
-the grand salon (the beam)?
the heating?
-the facade and back steps?
-the apartments (Stephanie's (office and wardrobe), Gerry's and Nati’s)?
-china pantry?
Anyone know?
Cheers! 👋
If you were ACTUALLY watching these videos for the last couple of years then you would know that Nati doesn't have an apartment in the Chateau anymore... she and Amaury moved out ages ago to their own place..
The downstairs room will forever be known as Nati's apartment.
As a traveller who likes to stay 2, 3, or 4 nights each place it would be handy to have somewhere for a suitcase with easy access. I do hang some things but leave the majority in my case for ease of re-packing, just a thought! Love the room!
It is a staff/family room.
How about painting the window frame the same white as the background of the wallpaper? That turquoise paint classes with the other blue in the room.
Or paint it the soft tone of the beds.
What ever happened to the pink room where Amaury was fixing the dormers?
I'm so very sorry to hear about the chickens suffering such a horrible fate. You're all so tenderhearted with the animals of Lalande. Poor Marie finding such carnage in the otherwise peaceful walled garden. 😢 I'm so sorry she had to see it. I know it's a really big ask, but please try not to be too cross with the foxes. A fox finding a pen filled with chickens is like a human walking into a well stocked pantry. Living harmoniously with predator species can be challenging but it is possible. Foxes have a super important role keeping forest habitats healthy and strong by keeping small mammal populations in check. Their absence in many areas of the world is why ticks have become such a huge problem. The small species of rodents that serve as hosts to the tick larvae at the beginning of the tick life cycle, need to be kept in check by foxes, birds of prey, etc., to stop forests from becoming infested with ticks. I know you'll get the chicken run sorted out properly. Seeing the wildlife return to Lalande means the forest is finally healing from all the hunting from decades past. That's a beautiful thing! ❤
I can’t wait for Nati’s verdict on the room …😂
Good morning from Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia. A suggestion you may take on board. Re the storage containers, prior to placing anything in the containers, purchase a can of powdered borax and sprinkle it liberally along all sides of the container. This will stop any type of insect invasion. It is not harmful to others, ie. humans or animals. During the summer months and only if you have wooden furniture stored, place a bucket of water just inside the entrance and refill as necessary. This will ensure your furniture doesn't dry and crack. Good luck, love your vlogs Stephanie and et al LeLanders. Take care ❤️
As a child we always kept a glass of water inside our piano to maintain humidity.
You guys!! The room is looking so cute, and the tablecloth is a dream. Sorry about the little dinosaurs.
😲😉😂
Speaking from experience, the chicken coop needs a chicken wire roof as well as full length chicken wire walls (or solid walls). The wire also needs to be buried into the ground (wall) at least 50cm to prevent digging underneath and with the wire bent outwards to prevent access. Foxes are able to climb and enter any tiny hole that's available to climb through. I have lost several hens in the past and this seems to be the only deterrant. Good luck with it.
and mustelids( marten stoat mink weasel) can get through even smaller holes than a fox
The attack on your chickens sounds less like a fox and more like a weasel or a mink. We had mink breaking into our neighbours' chicken coops when i worked at a plant nursery that had rescue chickens. The mink killed every chicken in each coop it attacked, and took none of them. Foxes don't kill for sport (that's a myth) like weasels and mink do.
dogs kill for sport too if they have prey drive.
They saw the fox a few times
Yes foxes do kill everything! They get blood lust! I’ve seen it!
How playful that bedroom decor is! I love it!
Marie’s food looks amazing, and hot flower guy delivers beautiful flowers :-) as always
Do not care for the mod painting in that room. Love the room though.
Sorry to hear of the great chicken loss. Nature while beautiful can be cruel 😢
Please be extra careful with Lancelot. That fox has his sights on him! I had the same issue with my 5 lb dog. Lancelot should never be left alone. xx
Agree, my personal experience with multiple foxes that roam my property is that some are very aggressive and will go after small dogs and cats.
🍃🐿️. Yes, please keep Lancelot safe and close by at all times! Those foxes have his scent now and will not give up looking for him…this is so sad, but I could never watch CHATEAU DIARIES again if anything happened to Lancelot🥲💚🍃
Lancelot should always be on a leash as fox are extremely fast and could take him right in front of you especially when walking through the woods.
@@lovereikiASMR222 agree
The bed against the wall will be a nightmare to make.
Please consider getting a guarding dog, Ombaline or Kirsty will be able to guide you I am sure. He/She could live in the walled garden and go out during the day with the chickens and gard the Peacocks when nesting as well. They are very low maintenance and independent but very very protective of their livestock. It will save a lot of stress to animals and humans alike!
Good suggestion, and the mental image of Stephanie wrestling with a Great Pyrenees just made me LOL 😂
Anna and Peter also lost their chicken friends to a pine Martin. Anna is devastated. Sorry for your loss of your friends 🥺🇨🇦🐉👩🏼⚖️
I find the wallpaper in that room a little overwhelming. A strong blue, a busy pattern in a room with walls that lean in is very dominating. Maybe one wall of paper and the rest just painted might simplify things. Just my feelings. Everyone is different!
I agree. I don’t have a problem with the picture but the wallpaper is bit too much. But it’s their decision and taste is personal.😊
Possibly keep a large dog in the walled garden. We have a Newfouland who love to be outside and truly does protect all of our farm critters.
I love this idea. I hear Dan has some potential candidates…
Big dogs! YES!
...or Terriers.
As far as your fox goes I think you should consider bringing in a professional Foxcatcher. Especially if you don’t want to shoot him. But the most important is that Lancelot is kept safe as the chickens also. Good luck
I agree get a professional fox catcher!!! I do not want Lancelot hurt or gone.
With all due respect, that's not our business. The fox is one of the few larger native wild animal species we have in Europe and they live in the countryside and forests. So if you don't want your chickens to become fodder, you have to take appropriate precautions and build a suitable coop. It's not the fox's fault that he chases his prey. So why blame him for man's mistakes?
@@nlstevens1 a professional fox catcher is a guy with a gun, There are upward of 300000 foxes in France. One that is killing livestock will just be seen as a pest to be destroyed, If the coop is secure the fox will no longer be a threat, Fix the coop and spare the fox
The bedroom is so much better, quite lovely now. I’m not sure why but the trim color doesn’t work for me. Marie has really come into her own as a chef. Love seeing the table settings and the food presentation. Sad about the chickens but I hope you repeat the beautiful variety of breeds when you replace them. Well done.
Dear Stephanie, The dress you were wearing in the bedroom is just beautiful. So feminine. Hugs💞
Yes, I watch for the uplifting content. However, you are like family to me and so, never be afraid to tell me the bad news. It is part of your story, which I am here for.
OMG! I was fond of the chickens, but I would be devastated if anything were to happen to little Lancelot.
I realize that foxes will be foxes, please find out where the assassin is getting in.
❤ from TX!
Unfortunately, they're "foxy".
With the fox, I’d also worry about the kitty-Ruby? We lost a cat to a fox (in America). Very sorry Marie discovered the chickens. How awful and such a loss. They were so fun. Tricky fox outwitted you all. Want to encourage native environments, but it can be difficult. May all your feathered and furred loves stay safe.
Sadly your Father’s modern artwork truly clashes with that charming room. 😢
He has other works that might fit in nicely. I LOVE the angel sketch/print. I have a similar one with a young woman playing with a cherub.
The wallpaper looks life marijuana leaves
So unnecessary.
Over the years I lost too many chickens by a very determined fox, in the end I just gave up, I love Annalise in that gorgeous dress, what a lovely girl she.
So sorry to hear about the chickens. That is so sad. They were always a highlight. 😞🇨🇦
19:13 the 'wood asparagus' is actually better known as the *Bath asparagus* ( _Ornithogalum pyrenaicum_ ) as it is most common in the woods around the town of Bath in England. Other names include 'Prusian asparagus', 'wild asparagus' and 'Pyrenees star of Bethlehem'. Searching the internet for 'wood asparagus' will find you _Asparagus acutifolius_ from the same genus as the edible garden asparagus, but that's not the species you had on your plates.
I absolutely love the brown furniture that’s in the room to begin with. It really popped on those light walls
Please tell us about Thor and his family!!! Are they OK??? That fox will surely go for them, especially if it has kits to feed. Also, please be careful with Lancelot and Ruby, they will be vulnerable to attack.
So so sorry about the chickens. The first two people I thought about were your mom and Pavlina.
Please be careful, I’ve lost a small dog to an owl once, literally flew away with it.
God, that hair on him is so unappealing.
Such a lovely room until the painting was hung there It just spoils everything. :(
I like the two beds against the wall but all I see is the blue paint trim around the window. It draws the eye in a way I think you don’t want it to.
We lost a kittens with foxes when we moved into a different home. Be careful with Lancelot.
Stephanie, your hair looks amazing! I’ve been noticing how much healthier it’s been looking❤️
Also loving the new bedroom styling. Much better. The wallpaper is stunning!
The dinner looked amazing! Marie is a master at her craft.
MARIE 😍 THOSE PLATES ARE RESTAURANT WORTHY! My mouth was so jealous it didn't get to taste. So sorry about your feather babies 😢 But the peacocks in the new room seem happily ensconced and ready to be adored 🥰 well done!

How sad about the chickens. Love the blue & white beds, & Stephanie's dress. Also love Philip's shirt.
Agree
the wall paper will fade after a time. . It all looks very fresh. that is what counts.
I do love the peacock bedheads. Loved them in their original room as well. Sad new about the beautiful feather family, its awful. The chapel amazes me more each time I see it. The guys are so passionate and mindful about what they are doing. Marie really is producing lovely meals. Grate call on your hair Stephanie it will grow stronger now.
I'm not used to Philip's clothing style. If I was there, I would have asked him to tuck in his shirt, or leave it loose over the waistband.......Ha ha ........
To me, Dad’s painting goes well in the room. A well loved room evolves over time with each generation adding its unique touch. What I loved about my relatives homes in Finland was the juxtaposition of family antiques with very modern Marimekko fabrics. It’s very different from the typical North American west where you go to one store and buy everything there.
It could still be a pine marten , Peter and Anna’s (it’s a wonderful life) chickens were all killed in a night by a pine marten who slunk in the chicken coup (a part of their barn) during the day waiting for the chickens to get locked in , carnage 😢
Lots to learn in this vlog: but the standout is that Amaury is the sexiest man alive! (No argument here!) ❤
Love the single beds in the renovated bedroom. The room looks fresh and uncluttered.
Sad news about the chickens. They do become special pets. Looking forward to seeing the new, fortified chicken coop.
The gazebo is a gift, it is such a great addition to your walled garden.
My sympathies to you all for the loss of your little feathered friends. I know how these sweet creatures can peck their way into your heart. Still miss my childhood chicken, Henny-Penny, also lost to the circle of life. So sorry.
Sorry to hear about the chickens. But it is strange that the fox comes around during the day - it is worth being extra careful with Lancelot as one does not know whether the fox would attackhim or whether the fox carries any diseases...And Lancelot is so friendly with all creatures he met in his young life, that he would not know not to approach a fox or not to chase after it.
I love the wall paper in that room. The color combination looks so fresh!
Your fathers painting is lovely, but not in that room, it is very jarring.
In regards to the fox… What about Ruby as well as Lancealot.? so sorry to hear about the chickens.
I’m so sorry about your hens, I know what that’s like! Once you recover and you feel ready you can restock. 😢
How sad you’ve lost your chickens to a fox. Watch out for Lancelot. Not sure how to deter a fox. Perhaps he can smell food and having got lucky before he’s keeps returning.
But as you said Stephanie, once you can build a fox proof chicken coop and run, the new chickens should be safe.
I really enjoy seeing the table layout, flowers and Marie’s wonderful food!
The bedroom does look better with two single beds with dresser in between!! Your vlogs are sadly always over so fast, I look forward every day to watching before I go to bed. Thank you so much 😃🌷🪻🌻🌸🥰🙅♀️🙅♀️
Extremely sad to hear about the chickens 😞
The foxes are only present because of hunger and trying to feed their young. They are wild animals but they also need food and support to obtain this hence why not get cheap cuts of meat scraps/bones etc and leave it at a safe distance from the buildings/walled garden and they can be trained as they have the instinct to recognize the food location and this will minimize the risk although a reinforced chicken coop is ideal. I speak from experience as I have fed foxes for years and have even watched them waiting for the cat to finish eating before then taking their portion, they only attack to survive. I don't treat them as 'pets' as they are wild animals and this needs to be respected but it simply helps them to survive and minimize attacking living creatures. They are very timid and are only aggressive when hunger is their enemy and surprisingly they move on after a time.
How tragic about your chickens. They were always a delight to watch. Glad you are starting to make preparations so they will be safe. That table setting was delightful and beautiful. Philip has such wonderful taste in decor. And might I add that the dress you wore towards the end was so sticking cute. Please, please paint your pantry doors soon. Everything in your kitchen is so well kept up but those.
I love the bedroom before the redecoration. It looks so light and airy and romantic with the floral accessories and bed toppers.
