In this video, we discuss a simple tip that makes filming yourself so much easier and makes it way more efficient to capture a LOT MORE shots and B roll in less time. Кино
As Usual great content with Incredible Visuals 💙
Thank you so much! I really appreciate this 🙏
I think it's a very relatable content for many people. great video
So glad to hear that! Means a lot
I wasn't sure if I commented on this before lol but I think also you could get one of those sets of wheels for tripods, or even just a regular flat four wheel dolly just for moving it around and either take it off when ready (if it's too tall) or something like that too 👏
Yeah, lately I use a light stand w a ball head haha. Even more efficient than the tripod
sheeeeesh the lighting and composition in this video is really nice! i need to take some notes lol
Haha thanks so much!!
Genius! 🤯💙
If we're after quantity over quality, simple is better. Because it's faster. And for most creators who haven't made it yet, quality isn't their bottleneck. Many mediocre shots will keep our viewers on their toes for a minute, compared to just a few good shots in a timespan of a minute. Not to mention, by getting many shots, the quality is bound to be improved over time. Practice makes perfect.
So good. Totally agree. There's something about that going through the motions more frequently. That makes the muscle memory improve with every shot.
Excellent video and tips!
Thank you so much, Ben!! 🙏🙏👊
@@ScottJeschke you're welcome! You've got the content and the workflow - keep it up!
I need to watch more of your videos! Lots of tips here that I think will definitely help my channel!
Filming b roll and moving stuff around takes me HOURS!
Awesome! Really appreciate this and glad you found this helpful. Yeah, man. it's the moving tsuff around that just takes ages. My most recent video I actually put a tripod head on a light stand. wouldn't work for everything, but super efficient overall!
you re an inspiration .
Too kind. Thanks so much :)
THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING TO ME, IM A HUGE FAN OF YOU! IM A HUGE FAN. YOU'RE ALSO PRETTY GOOD LOOKING IN YOUR VIDEOS MAN YOU'RE SUPER CLEAN. OMAGAD MAN IMMA KMS YOU'RE SUCH AN ARTIST. sorry i'm a lil hyped @@ScottJeschke
Nice vid, thanks.
Thanks so much 🙏
Definitely agree with the aspect of removing as many barriers as possible. Having regular lighting that can double as adjustable lights for filming is a huge plus - dimmers or RGB controls.
I thought about the tripod situation before too, the constant setting up/adjusting height/angles. Not sure if you've seen that standplus from edelkrone? From the videos it seems like a game changer for indoor solo shooting but it's a little expensive to try on a whim (as someone trying not to accumulate too much surplus gear haha). Worth keeping an eye out if you ever get a chance to review one!
Oh yeah, that thing looks amazing. Since this video, I actually typically for my solo videos use a light stand, and a ball head mount for the camera. This is sped up my workflow even more. It's not quite as lightweight as this tripod, but it makes adjusting height and camera angle so much faster.
@@ScottJeschke Yeah that's a great idea to try for speeding up the height adjustments!
honestly so smart lol
🙏🙏
Bravo and Thank you. That was actually enlightening. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks so much! I'm so glad 🙏
Glad to see you are still trying to do your best for us RUclipsrs out here and I am still going to keep watching your videos and I can't wait to see what you do with the atomos ninja V
🙏🙏🙏 always appreciated
@@ScottJeschke no problem Scott 😊 I will always watch your videos and are you going to make another video like the one you did about the 2 Brothers having to go do wrestling for the money the other brother owed? 😀 it's one of my favorite videos you made
@@LegitLeeVelez so awesome. Haha, possibly! I love that one. It might be a little while before I do a formal short film again, because my focus at the moment is the feature I'm working on. Sci-Fi thriller. But depending on how long the funding phase of that takes I may make a short film.
@@ScottJeschke sounds good and I will definitely watch all those videos and I most likely comment on them to a I would suggest that you use the atomos ninja V for your similar video and if you do you should make a video on how you used it for the similar video to lol I been thinking of making videos with my sony a7iii and atomos ninja v soon but lately I've been just using my 2 phones to make the videos that are the most recent
Thanks for being there for us scott you are one of my favorite RUclipsrs lol 😆
Cool vid. For me the adjustment of lighting setups is a way bigger pain, but maybe moving down to a more compact light would have a similar result as moving down to a lighter tripod.
Yeah. Lights are also a pain for sure. I try to keep to one or two for these kinds of scenes. But even one a c stand gets tiring. Tripod is just one mitigation
Holy shit your colorgrading and cinematic film looks are incredible. Video quality too.
Can you share the colorgrading process with premier pro ? I wish your channel growth skyrocket 🔥
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Yep. For this one I used the Dehancer plugin. My own custom curve, then 500T stock, 2383 print stock with printer light color adjustments, halation, bloom, grain and gatewave.
@@ScottJeschke all of those things you mentioned are in the Dehancer plugin ? Thanks mate i will take a research about Dehancer. Do you have any LUTs or something for PP ?
@@duyhungphannguyen3049 yep! If you are interested in Dehancer, It would be worth checking out "Film Look" video. I do a deep dive. It's the FCPX version, but they have it for PR and resolve. Controls are all the same.
And I have a 10% discount code SCOTT for Dehancer. I have HLG3 LUTs on my website. scottjeschke.com But unfortunately nothing new for S log, etc. And they won't get this look.
One quick observation on the way you edit your sound as well, I also sometimes noticed you dub yourself later, am I crazy to notice that? lol In the videos with talking head I notice you talk to the camera on multiple setups and I always wonder if u have a lav or just dub yourself. :)
Yep! Absolutely right. For the narrative style reviews, like the Viltrox one I just did, I dubbed myself. Pretty much just rolled off parts of the script, and matched the ones that synced the best with the existing voice over.
@@ScottJeschke That's a great idea man, loved it ❤
@@canalmarcelolobo thanks so much 🙏 appreciate your kind feedback 👊
It looks like you had a film camera on the tripod. What is the name of that camera?
Yep! It's my grandfather's old Kodak brownie movie camera. 8mm
@@ScottJeschke So cool, thank you!
@@williamtishuk24 Sure thing! I love it. Still winds and everything. It's the same camera Spielberg uses in the Fabelman's when he's a little kid. Wish I could film on it ha
@@ScottJeschke Oh wow, I didn't know! Yeah motion picture film is something I'd like to get into! I had a professor who had a 16 mm bolex in his office he let me use. I have no idea if I got anything. I still have to get it developed and that was like 5 years ago! LOL
@@williamtishuk24 haha never know! That's awesome. Would love to shoot 16
"FILM" yourself? 😖
🤔? 😆
This is why I believe the days of the run and gun videographer will be rather short lived. So many people have turned their passion into a job and now they will burn out. This work has always been made for teams / crews mostly. Of course basic social content only needs a videographer. But to make a film or a decent video you need a crew. The future will be in small powerful crews for our industry. 🤍🎥🎬 stay creative 😀
Yeah I think it's just two different use cases. I'd always crew up for a narrative short, feature or commercial. Even just a bigger camera necessitates a camera team. But the "content" side of things has never been easier for a one man band
