Interesting box. However eco friendly is loose 😏🙃Covering a cardboard box in heaps of plastic tape, using plastic bags etc. Never used the scrubby yarn as I have no idea how to wash the scrubby after you use it, I don’t have a dish washer apart from me. I’ll be interested to see what you think of the yarns and to see what you make with them. The only thing I dress in my house is myself. Even my dog has his own fur coat only. I wonder if the idea of covering toilet rolls started with the Victorians deciding you couldn’t look at such a base thing as toilet paper, did the Victorians even have toilet paper? I remember a friend of mines mother years ago having a doll that had a big gauzy skirt and that sat over the roll and hid it from delicate eyes.
I did wonder about the ‘green’ness of all that sticky tape! 😱 I think you just stick the scrubbies in the washing machine - it’s what I’ve done in the past anyway and they last a while (depends so much on how you use them and the yarn and how tight your stitches are and how well you weave in the tails… so it’s very variable). I think I’ll make them up and then give them away (housewarming gift - might put something more fun in there too otherwise it looks like I’m saying ‘you need to clean more’… 😂) Oh those toilet roll dolls!! In the 80s they were everywhere 😬. Given toilet paper was invented smack in the middle of the Victorian era, I bet they invented some hilarious toilet paper covers then too, I wonder if they managed something more tasteful?? 😂🤣
Hi, new subscriber here, I'm Ginny, I'm a yarn club subscriber too in Sydney Australia !!! My next project will be the round neck jumper! I love Yarn Club. Crafty HUGS ❤😊
@@knitwithginny So nice to meet you! Waving from Perth 👋 It is rare that I get a comment from an Aussie! 😃 That jumper is lovely, you mean the knitted one right? I’ve seen some beautiful versions of it shared on instagram 😃 I’m actually learning to knit at the moment and was eyeing off that kit, but realistically I’m a long way off being able to make it… my knitted scarf looks… rustic (…terrible 😆). It’s funny going from being a pro with crochet to trying out knitting, it feels like I should know what I’m doing, but I am definitely starting from scratch. 🧶🤗 Wheelie
Hey Lorraine, I agree, definitely worth the money this time 😊 When I looked into the box and realised it was *packed* full and there were lots of little extra bits I was so excited. They’re not trying to be fancy but it all seems really well thought out, just what I’d hoped. I hope you’re having a good week too 😃👩🏻🦼
Hay Wheelie, Perfect place to put that Earl Grey tea. 🙈🙉🙊Although I do use bergamot soap to help keep bugs out of my stash. "Too much yarn" ❓❓❓❓❓❓ wash your mouth out., maybe with the tea. hehehe. Was the pattern in Aus or US terminology? You always make me giggle. Thanks 👍👍
Oops, should’ve mentioned that - it’s in Aus/UK terminology rather than US (the Crate Crochet subscription patterns were in dual terminology) 😊 Blergh!! Earl Grey is much too severe a punishment 😱 I will definitely never say anything like that ever again. Even though I have bought SO MUCH YARN. It’s not too much, it’s perfect, or maybe… not quite enough 😂😀. My brother just sent me a photo of a tshirt that sums it up: a dragon curled up on a pile of yarn, guarding it like a hoard of gold. I need that shirt… and more yarn 😈. Hope you’re having a good week 😃👩🏻🦼
There are a lot worse things to be spending one’s hard effort money on. for example.. spending money on anti wrinkle creams that don’t work. Hoses that are supposed to be non kink. Underwear to make you look thinner. But stop you from breathing. Self help courses that are suppose to stop you buying yarn.. therapy. Group or otherwise .. no no no.. the amount of money I’ve saved will keep me in my happy Everest of yarn for the rest of my life which will be full of joy and happiness due to said yarn. Priceless. 🥰🤩
@@Soffity Couldn’t have said it better… I’m just going to sit here surrounded by yarn, which stops my wheels from turning, and means I have the perfect excuse to stay here, feeling comfy, and crochet… while browsing online shopping sites for more yarn. Ah bliss 🥰
Hi Susan - Isn’t it just?? I know some people love them… but I’m very glad there were lots of options that didn’t involve costumes for my soaps 😂 As for the tea… I love tea, can’t get up in the morning without my cuppa… but I’m a total tea pleb. It has to be plain old boring not-at-all-fancy tea, not herbal or earl grey or anything special. As soon as they make it ‘interesting’ I think it smells lovely but tastes awful… I guess the instant coffee didn’t get blown up because it’s as basic as me!🤣😂👩🏻🦼
@@susanrobertson7423 Tetley is lovely 🥰 If there was Tetley in there I wouldn’t throw it away. Lipton, Twinings, Bushells… anything that’s just black tea. I’m having my second cup of the morning now. A hot cup of tea (or coffee!) and crochet is definitely the best way to start the morning 🫖🧶❤️
@@wheeliemadeitcrochet I usually wake up make a cuppa a do a little crochet to get me started for the day, strange for me as I wake mostly 4am, but least I won’t wake up any of my neighbors doing it lol, twinnings is a fall back if I don’t get Tetley extra strong ❤️
