thank u for keeping up with the vods Nodja ive been using these vods as an escape from my finals rn (first one was today) and its been helping me relax sm , i will make sure to spam more comments as i go
The fact i had to share yesterday, for those who are curious. There are 9 days left until the world-ending event prophesized in the ancient scroll found in the depths of the Pyramid of Giza in 1948.
EDIT: Disregard everything I rambled about the last Gatekeeper fight was so satisfying 3:25:50 i don't remember P3R enough to know if he would've had any option to improve agility/evasion for Yukari at this point (besides the incense & sukukaja). I guess no AoE agility debuff either. If you're trying to play this game without the broken mechanics (like by using mc's theurgy in this battle), then buffing/debuffing is important (again i don't remember this game enough). Although I do remember that there aren't that many options for buffing/debuffing. Especially compared to Metaphor (& im only making the comparison cuz im playing it currently) [ EDIT: wrong! ] Maybe P3R's problem is that you have broken mechanics w/theurgy which make things really easy & then if u avoid that then you're left at the mercy of the RNG gods. More buff/debuff options = _less_ of being fucked over by RNG Maybe it would help if the game emphasised the use of buff/debuff more in Merciless? (they don't because theurgy but still) The use of those is made clearer in Metaphor when you get an archetype that specialises in them. not a tutorial necessarily, but it _is_ made clear why you would want to debuff enemies [ EDIT: ehh a _little_ more highlighting would've been good for Merciless, but i doubt anyone's going into Merciless completely blind ] hell now i'm thinking of pokemon & how my childhood approach was "attack everything attack attack attack" w/no regard for buffs/debuffs, which makes sense because the mechanic was _there_ but not _highlighted_. So yeah I can see that as an acceptable version of the "i don't like how easily you can die cuz of bad luck" criticism. cuz see I'm tempted to be annoying like, "he's complaining about rng while not using the mechanic that decreases the impact of rng," but that's unfair since the mechanic that decreases the impact of rng isn't even _that_ present in this game, not that highlighted (but also, he used rakunda & then was like "it didn't do much" even tho it did help w/the all-out attack damage & made the fight smoother. I pin that on the game not teaching u much about buffs/debuffs cuz it _expects_ u to theurgy everything to death at this point [considering the fact that theurgy was tutorialised & everything. if they expected you to save up on theurgy -- which u don't have much of a need for -- they'd also tutorialise buffs/debuffs ]) (idk it's a combo of "joe why" & "game didn't bother w/this & wanted u to use the broken features" ) tl;dr: I love spamming Sukunda (& later, Debilitate) in Metaphor ReFantazio it's awesome (+ metaphor fixes a LOT of general problems that were seen in persona games. not all, but a lot. for example some of those 'general problems' [w.r.t. combat] return a bit w/the optional superbosses but that's a whole other discussion & perspectives vary a lot due to the fact that u can have so many different playstyles due to the mix & match of archetypes & team comp) EDIT: Also the "super hard, harder than hard!!!" difficulties in these games usually come with the warning of, "It's unfair! It's only if you hate yourself! This sucks ass!" so I usually go in thinking, "ah yes, Hard is if you want a challenge _and_ fun, [harder than hard option] is for masochism + ego-boosting." but then I can see a criticism to be made here for, "well why can't they make it Harder Than Hard in a fun way then?" which is fair enough. Although I don't think it's good to play the "this is hard but not even in a fun way" setting if you don't like turn-based combat that much to begin with. But that's if we're talking about personal enjoyment, not streaming. It would be fun for streaming if Persona fans were less annoying. EDIT: _Huh_ Akihiko does have Tarunda & Sukukaja. And then Joe started using debuffs in a boss fight! Cool. Satisfying even

@nonofficialdailyjosephanderson Thank you for doing so much for this community with your uploads and the extra work you put into them. What program do you use to filter the audio when there are copyright claims for sections?
3:25:00, Not gonna say Joe is wrong in general but he definitely wasn't paying attention since he doesn't realize he didn't miss the first time and the second time wasn't necessarily even the weakness.
3:24:50 "I don't like that you can die just from missing once" Dude, use a Persona that's not weak to the element that you've seen the enemies use multiple times before?? Also you were at 40% health so it's not like you even got one shot?? Just soooooo much bitching about turn-based games and how boring they are but he's playing the most boring way (super overlevel) and is so stubborn to alter his approach even slightly. It was kinda funny at first but it's lost any charm. Now it's just grating
just use a party member that has zero weakness to any attacks and nulls crit. i.e. none of them. yep. turning the difficulty up to merciless blatantly shows how barebones persona gameplay is as a stat based game without contributing anything else to help alleviate the fact that it sucks so much L. just admit turn based game pve is bad. its not nine sols. it is not good.
@ none of those things are required to beat the game, even on Merciless. If you’re averse to strategy then yea, I’m sure you find turn based games shallow. You’re just gonna run your head into a wall over and over. If you want to engage, there’s a lot to enjoy. And I’m saying this as someone way prefers SMT’s combat over Persona’s
@@heeho8929 agreed. On one hand I would love to see Joe play Nocturne because it’s a phenomenal game and it’d be hilarious, but after these streams i don’t think i could suffer through that. Would probably call Matador bad game design or something
@@hunterbrown7692 Joe playing Nocturne would be interesting, bc for the first time he'd be actually *forced* to engage with the mechanics, and think abt team-setup, synergies and strategies. Buuuut he'd also just rag on the game for 60h straight.. so yeah..
