The best part of this video is that no one has vandalized the cabin. And that wonderhussy left it like she found it. Thanks for sharing this gem with us. I hope it stays this way.
Volunteer cabins are such feel good videos. Seeing the combined efforts of hundreds of people who don't know each other. Everybody considering everybody else's comfort. It's refreshing. We're not all vandals and graffiti idiots!
Gotta say this because nobody else has. Fred & Betty put Barney and Wilma in the locked box so they could get together. Mystery of the locked box solved. That was a smoke filled dream.
Why on earth would anyone say anything nasty about you? Love your adventures & the life story's you tell along the way! Some funny, some sad, but always interesting. Loved this episode, that cabin was amazing & it's nice to see no vandalism, just RESPECT!!
The notion of folks building cute little cabins to live in as weekend miners is such a fascinating aspect of the American West, and the American Dream. Living in Colorado, I think of striking it rich as a mid 1800s obsession, but in your neck of the desert, it was still a thing 100 years later, or like Ross, even today. I also love the idea of people restoring these little cabins for anyone who happens by. This shows even a few volunteers can make a difference. Food for thought from the Hussy and her videos. Fun episode.
For anyone who has gone out in the desert to some remnants of other times, and tried to just stand and listen to the eternal breezes whispering through the creosote, trying to imagine what it must have been like, and how much like it ‘was’ still ‘is’, but has also seen all the vulgar vandalism and empty beer cans, this video relaxes a tenseness in the soul. I used to take kites on Jeep runs, but someone always had a dog that incessantly barked at it, so I gave it up. For you, may I suggest a “Sky Spy”, with two big bloodshot eyeballs on it. Wonderhussy is vigilant !
I really can not imagine anyone saying nasty things about you . I think you are wonderful. You get to show me places in this country I have never visited. Thank you for what you do. I love you.
That's such a nice cabin. It even has an insulated roof. I would love to sleep out on that porch on a summer night. Thank you, Sarah, for another wonderful video.
Dyer Nevada..... Back in the early 90's I worked for a heavy equipment dealership in Vegas. While servicing a piece of heavy equipment in Dyer, I was frantically volunteer'd to drive a water truck out to a local house (or trailer) fire. Once there, I had to get the gasoline powered transfer pump up & running ASAP to feed the fire truck that was working on putting out the fire, & was now out of water...... The transfer pump had its own (but empty) fuel tank, I had to pull the drain plug on the main saddle tank (next to the burning building) to fill a can with gasoline to run around behind the truck to fill the pony motor's tank in order to get the pump running..........good times.
I fondly remember the J.C.Whitney catalog and the ad for that musical horn. The Dixie model was used prominently in The Dukes of Hazzard which I'm sure is why I remember it. They also had everything you needed to build a Baja Bug VW or a dune buggy, or to restore your Model A Ford.
Fred Flinstone and Betty Rubble had a hideaway? Thanks for the tour! You are very talented, smart, and share honestly, part of your appeal and lasting viewership. Thank you Wonderhussy !
It's sort of the habit of people who wander around out there (I'm one of them, occasionally) to do whatever "needs doin' " in these cabins. Sweeping, dusting, tucking things back into order, whatever. Some will truck up building materials and do some repairs over a weekend, making a "working trip" out of it, and usually a fun campout; most just leave supplies or "care packages" whenever they come across them. But the thing is... given the random weather that can happen out here, and the other assorted "issues" of wandering around the desert... you never know when such a spot of shelter and supply can save your butt. So people will *respect* these cabins, and do what they can to keep them up. Vandalism almost never enters the picture, because vandals generally won't ever want to wander out that far.
These are the type of videos that made me fall in love with your channel, this and the abandoned places when you make up stories of who used to live there. I miss those videos!
sarah i'm 72 years old still up in smoke if you know what i mean. i have a list of people i watch on you tube. and you are my number one baby keep up your good work . i compare you to huell howser.. your the best if your ever in menifee stop by and say high
Hey WonderHussy!👋😎 @16:48 Small World!😁 I went to High School in Florence from 1976 to 1979!🥰 Good old Siuslaw High School.🥱 Some of my classmates still live there! The history of the 1800rds miner should be a documentary of the taming of the west. So many miners just digging holes and dreaming of women and gold/silver
@14:24 lol...funny to see an ad for Maquoketa and Bellevue, Iowa. Maquoketa is known for it's caves, flea markets and rattlesnakes and Bellevue for it's April 1, 1840 'Bellevue War'. It was more of a politically engaged dispute based on enmity and distrust one faction to another. Sarah, In '68 I was travelling around the U.S. I ended up down a lonely road in Joshua Tree National Monument. Thanks for sharing your great Desert Mountain Hideaway Cabin adventure! Really liked that you left something at the cabin that others may need if they get in trouble.
Ahh, the old JC Whitney catalog! No matter how out of date they are you can’t part with them since the next one might not have what you saw in the older one. Even if it’s not in there at least you can remember the name when you search for it in the future somewhere. The box reminds me of a Nebraska tornado shelter. Maybe they had to use it when the house was flattened? I’ve been thinking it would be kind of cool to put a panel with a small battery and a string of lights in some cabins that could be used as a survival shelter. Sarah, you are loved in spite of not realizing it at times. You’re allowed to make a living doing something you’re good at. Hopefully this helps if you know where it’s from; Matt 6:25-34. Stay safe and enjoy life Sarah! ❤️🙏🫶🏻😘😎
As a guy i would love to flip the pages in that magazine 13:03 That's a JC Whitney catalog and back in the 80s wayyy before internet / online parts shopping it was my go to for off beat car accessories .
Amazing find a cabin in that great of shape. Very well maintained & surprising well stocked. Places I usually run into have been destroyed by vandals that have no place in society (my opinion). Great video Sara. Keep this place a big secret.
A J.C. Whitney catalog! We were just talking about those at work the other day! I miss browsing through it when I was a kid dreaming about tricking out my first car.
we were just in the area coming home after a visit to Pahrump--we went up Saline valley and went to cerro gordo from the east--the weather was perfect--we went down the canyon to lone pine and the hiway(136) was closed from flooding from owens river!! we circled back on 190 to 395 home to Bishop
Jc Whitney automotive cataloge. Great all around stuff and good prices. Some things desirable that nobody else had. I purchased a 1968 mustang Convertable top and installed it and very good price maybe around $60 . Oh very good video almost forgot
Well, I have no idea why “some people “ keep saying bad things about you, to me and many here, you are a light in this world! The haters are just jealous, pay them no mind! 😃 take care lady!! ❤️❤️❤️
A wonderful spot to take a night astrophoto! I can imagine pitch black night with massive stars overhead and taking a timelapse of the stars spinning overhead above the cabin sitting in foreground. AWESOME. Thanks Sarah for posting this lovely well maintained escape hideaway.
Love these cabin videos you make WH. That old JC Whitney parts catalog from 1981 is a nice touch. You need a kite in your life. My only complaint, or observation if you will, is you should've reset the mouse trap. Other than that oversight you did a great job and left a first aid kit. Stay safe Sarah.
I found that cabin by accident a couple of months ago. It is very well maintained, the outhouse is really nice, There was a cool old blue truck at that ghost town that some idiots pushed it into a pit a couple or years ago. The hanta virus warnings were a bit disconcerting
Yup, and I not only saw the dead mouse in the trap but also mouse turds in the drawers. The cabin is cute but I don't know if I'd want to stay in it because of that.
I Wonder Hussy where the Border Wall between Scheduled Coats of Paint 🎨 Where Exactly oh Phuque , Sweet Tangerines 😮❤ Sure Right they Huffed and Puffed ❤
Florence is my Hometown! Love the picture of the Lighthouse as it's just up the road from Florence and is said to be the most photographed spot on the Oregon coast!
Go Ducks! how funny. The post card from Florence Or, depicts the Heceta (pronounced "Heh-Cee-Ta") head lighthouse. It's about 15 minutes north of Florence. We have a small cabin there.
that cabin is so nice it almost seems like someone still lives there and you broke into their home. i picked up a kite two years ago and i have to say, everyone should take the time to go fly a kite. if the weather is perfect it is so relaxing and really clears your mind and makes you feel like a kid with not a care in the world.
You rock sister love everything about you! Keep up the good fight to entertain us people who cannot see these places for ourselves plus we get great verbal voice on top of it.😊❤
Was just watching Adam the Woo taking a tour of Vegas with a local resident. I thought, it would be cool if Sarah would have been his tour guide ! They featured many spots you have shown us in the past. Have a good day.
"I guess Kid Rock hasn't made his way out to this cabin, yet." I'm 💀! I wasn't a beer drinker much, either. At least not for that light weight fizz water the corporate brewers are producing. I like dark to amber quaffs that you only need to sip two of them, and you're as lofty as you want to be, with fewer trips to the head. I do like the smaller brewers' stouts, porters and imperial ales. I'm still a cocktail gal, though... but if you want to venture into malted and hopped brews, try a local micro brew. You may well be pleasantly surprised , as I was! Hope to maybe catch you in our travels. Thank you so much for your travelogues and entertaining commentary.

Fred ran off with Betty and left Barney and Wilma look after the kids..😂
Would of thought the desert could be so fun?...!

Jealous hateful people. Losers that don't like her liberal spirit...
I've never noticed anyone be unkind. If so, it's only words
Such a great little cabin. Congrats to those who maintain this camp. Thanks for sharing, Wonderhussy. Stay well Sarah.
Cool cabin! I am shocked that Fred and Betty got together. Feel so sad for Barney and Wilma.
23:28 if you've not already done so, be good to date the first aid goodie bags!
Thank You for your adventures. Those of us who can’t get out to explore anymore appreciate it!
What a cool little cabin!
Thanks for letting us tag along.

I installed a dixie horn on my first car back in 1983. It would blow fuses every other time I used it.
I really can not imagine anyone saying nasty things about you . I think you are wonderful. You get to show me places in this country I have never visited. Thank you for what you do. I love you.
My wife probably would.
One day you will meet Walter and Jesse in one of those cabins. Stay safe.
underrated comment lol
I liked the comment! Breaking Bad forever
I do worry about her on her own but wonder hussey is a tough cookie 😉
That's such a nice cabin. It even has an insulated roof. I would love to sleep out on that porch on a summer night. Thank you, Sarah, for another wonderful video.
Love it when you go to those volunteer cabins!
Have fun Hussy!😊
The J C Whitney catalog was the Sears catalog for (mostly) cheap auto accessories. Used to spend hours pouring over them.
... I've got a saying....'If you go through life ,without upsetting anyone.....then you haven't tried hard enough...'

I bought that dixie horn from J.C. Whitney, blew fuses like there is no tomorrow.
Mustang parts too
@@wandasays5438 it would not blow fuses if you used a relay and direct 12v connection from battery. LOL
I think this is the best cabin yet! Thank you for all of your adventuring Wonderhussy, I wait all week for Wednesdays and the new uploads.
After BamBam and Pebbles married, Fred left Wilma for Betty and moved out to that cabin. Poor Barney!🦖
"I guess kid rock hasn't made it out to this cabin yet" lmao
I have a feeling that Wonder Hussy is one of those people that would look in your medicine cabinet if invited into your home....hehe
Fred Flinstone and Betty Rubble had a hideaway? Thanks for the tour! You are very talented, smart, and share honestly, part of your appeal and lasting viewership. Thank you Wonderhussy !
What a place! I'm surprised it's so clean considering all the wind and screens. Thanks for the tour, Sarah. Keep them coming!

Pretty sure Barney cheated on Betty!

I really enjoy your use of "laid in" when referring to supplies. It's wonderfully charming.
I'm always amazed at how they had to haul all this "stuff" out to this place !!!!
J. C. Whitley catalog! Now that takes me back in time. Gandered at a few of them back in the day! Nice cabin.

Pink Floyd would be your horn tune I reckon Sarah, hugggzzz from this Kentucky biker& guitar picker.
I like when you find clues and create a story from them. Like that time and the time before that. Can you watch my dog for me while I go to Canada?
It’s so nice that people who come out there are leaving things as good or better than they found it.
Fred and Betty must have left their spouses, Wilma and Barney and went out to the cabin to Bam Bam.
I cannot imagine anyone saying anything negative about WH. I know I won't. love you Sarah Jane!!
the sean at 2:40 is great, thanks wonderhussy we love you.i wish i could be doing what you are doing.
These volunteer cabins are way cool. I love all the quirky places you explore. How come there is no one prospecting these areas now?
So, Fred Flintstone ran off with Betty Rubble?! Wow!
That Vac @ 5:25 is exactly like my mom had back in the 1960s. Of course, it was a different color, but I did use it.
If you get a kite, go dual string. Sooooo much fun. Thanks for dragging us along!

So I did, and as we sat twilight came ,and looking around I
could see the Kangaroo Rats hopping around and foraging.

Was just watching Adam the Woo taking a tour of Vegas with a local resident. I thought, it would be cool if Sarah would have been his tour guide ! They featured many spots you have shown us in the past. Have a good day.
My mother had a green vacuum like that.
