Another of my favorite piece to work out to at the gym. Sometimes I look around at other people listening to music and wonder if any of them are listening to Bach, or any classical music, or is it just me LOL.

This harpsichord concerto by Bach was an, open palm, slap in the face of every musician when composed. Like: "look what I can do, and now you go home, eat some bread, and see you in 10 years". *Deep bow to the floor*
Many, many years ago I used to have a recurrent dream in which I found myself out Zimmerman's Coffee House, heard the music, and went inside to see Bach and two of his sons playing this with members of the Collegium Musicum.
This was the first harpsichord Concerto of Bach's that I fell in love with. I knew the Brandenburgs and Violin Concertos, but when I got a Nonesuch LP with these concertos in 1970... this was the one I always played. I also love the original violin version of this concerto.

Wonderful, superb Like so many Bach fans, I have been waiting for my favorites to performed by NBS. BWV 1064 has been one of my favorites for near 50 years. Most worth the wait to hear your performance. Also, like so many I am sure, I have been enjoying not just the music but also the commentaries as well. You may not know me but you all are like old friends to me now. I am and continue to look forward to being wowed by your great endeavors. I am most grateful!
Again, this is one of the first pieces of Bach that I ever heard, so many years ago. It still moves me almost to tears, from the opening notes to the end.
Is there anything more heavenly than this masterpiece? And could this masterpiece possibly be performed better than by the Netherlands Bach Society? Not the slightest flaw, Bach at his best. Tempo, sharpness, harmony, expression, devotion and inspiration so fundamentially divine! You are touching my heart and my soul. Thank you so much!
Yes, to your first question. It is one of Bach's least interesting compositions. Harpsichords are not violins and it makes no sense to compose for more than one. Piano's are different because of the tones and the fact the sound does not have a double frequency, but even then , more than 2 pianos adds nothing. in fact, i wonder if Bach really composed this piece of musical noise. Its as though making three means zero value to any one keyboard instrument.
This piece is quite ugly and nonsensical, which is why I am confident that JS did write this. But YES, there are many many pieces far more heavenly than this piece.
Don't listen to these dummies. Bach re-orchestrated Vivaldi's "Concerto for 4 Violins" into his "Concerto for Four Harpsichords". His concertos for 3 and 4 harpsichords is some of his best work. ruclips.net/video/sUqXpbSR7yM/видео.html
Listening and watching this fabulous concert by the genius, I see directly the oriental meaning of "being-one-with" in particular with the three harpsichordists and rest of the players who mingle at perfection. Thanks!!!
What a delight it must have been to play in ensemble alongside with Maestro for his family, students and friends, and to bring to life and of course, to witness the emergence of his musical “Nevertheless... “ along with musical “comforting tap on the shoulder and reassuring nod”, yet followed with surprising “winks” just when a sad reminder might have tried to interfere. Time to be grateful for all of the gracefulness of the dance that is always in the air for us to be grasped... Time for not merely knowing, but instead, for experiencing with all senses that this too ...shall ...pass Thank you very much for brining to life this, yet another unfairly lesser known gem that must have been enjoyed so much by the inner circles of humble Maestro of all times, being treated by him like royalty, tenderly and most lovingly... Much awaited and certainly medicinal!

This is an arrangement of a lost Concerto for 3 Violins in D major, BWV 1064R (Bach, Johann Sebastian).
J. S. Bach broke the mold when he wrote this. 3 harpsichords (even at the time of their prime) was very unlikely. The sound is just THICC!
