Thanks for clearing this up! Note: On the newer versions of VirtualBox the Network setting is in a different location so you must press the icon that is located right of the pin icon in the "Tools" menu(the one with the wrench and screwdriver)
Thank you sir, My clarifications was cleared now, 😃 for next video explain all the network and how it working in virtual box sir. with regards Arulkumaran.
Great video! It helped me a lot. I would like to add something. If you are trying to nmap via kali and you cant find the other pc just close the firewall of the other Vm machine. It worked fine for me.
That was great bro, keep up the WORK, you save the day, I was stuck there for a while, having used to working with VMware workstation. Once a teacher is always is teeacher. (I gave thumbs up to the video as well)
Thank you for this excellent teaching. I followed your instruction, and it worked; I decided to configured another IP address on the Xbox. To my surprised, the window can ping kali successfully, but kali cannot ping the window despite being on the same network. Please, I need your advice. Thanks
@@vinayakmate1317 On the windows machine: Open up the Windows Firewall from within the Control Panel or search for it. Click Advanced Settings on the left. Right-click each rule and choose Enable Rule.
How would I go about creating two different Nats with different subnets and then connecting them so that the virtual machines can communicate across subnets?
Wonderful tutorial! May I know if there is a proper way to set static IP like you would on a router or I just configure the fixed IP on the OS and that is it?
Had an issue where my WIndows 7 could ping Kali Linux buy my Kali Linux machine couldnt ping Windows 7. Firewall on the Windows 7 machine was causing the problem.
Every tutorial on setting up a virtual lab environment that requires comms between hosts should begin with this presentation, most people never go over this step. Thank you.
its works, but its important in windows to make a rule for the FIREWALL for the network you choose, like 10.0.0.0/24 and permit ICMP if not, you don't ping.
Oh man I love you so much, I've been cracking my head all afternoon trying to figure it out and it took you less than 5 min to fix my problem, thank youuuu
If you run into the same issue as I did and have the same IPs for cloned VMs: Go to Network Settings > Advanced > Refresh the Mac Address for one of the machines. The Virtualbox Host assigns depending on MAC (Hardware) Addresses and as cloned machines have obviously the same MAC (D''oh), they will be assigned the same IP eventhough theyre different individual machines. After the change of the MAC Address, reboot the changed machine (or wait, but I'd reboot) and you should be there with two different IP's. Otherwise, a very nice tutorial and of course there is no need to explain this particular error as it might not be common!
i dit it. both came under same nat network with ips 10.0.2.16 and 10.0.2.4. but cannot ping each other. (kali and win10). when i run netdiscover in kali, the other ip is showing though.
I agree with Yann (below) there are so many videos that drag out every last detail! Yours in ON POINT everything we need to know in a short period of time. THANK YOU!
Thanks for the great guidance. I was also wondering how I could possibly set up two NAT Networks and have Host A (Network 1) be able to communicate with Host B (Network 2)? Do you have further insight on this?
I had some trouble with the current VirtualBox version even following the directions. If you are having trouble, try making a second NAT Network and connecting to that one instead of the first one you made. Also, if you are using cloned VMs, make sure they have different MAC addresses because DHCP doesn't seem to work otherwise. You can clone a VM but give it a different MAC in the "Clone Virtual Machine" menu.
have gone through several tutorials trying to get two VMs on Virtual Box to have unique IP addresses and ping each other. None of these tutorial were straightforward and precise on solving the problem as you were! Thank you very much for this!
its works, but its important in windows to make a rule for the FIREWALL for the network you choose, like 10.0.0.0/24 and permit ICMP if not, you don't ping.
hello dear sir how to connect metspiolatable and kali Linux each other when i put metasplotable IP address in kali Linux terminal for example ( ping 123,456,789) it show error Destination host unreachable Kindly Help me thanks
For somereason mines are still no communicating. I created a new network via prefference, configured both vms to the new nat network option. The IP addresses comes out exactly like yours, however when pinging one another, They don't communicate.
How would I set these up so that they can talk to EACH OTHER but not have access to the internet / outside world to basically create a sandbox of just these two?
thank u for this solution , it's worked for me . but for an external ping (ping 8.8.8.8) didn't work , it's like i have to setup two network adapters ??
Hello, so it worked but I had to enable somethings in the win10 firewall. The problem is both of those virtual machines can now ping my host machine. How do I disable that?
Sounds like you need to enable icmp in windows firewall: www.osradar.com/how-to-enable-and-disable-ping-icmp-in-windows-10-firewall/. At least that worked for me.
This works great - thanks for the short and to the point video. Except, I lose internet connectivity when Nat Network is selected. I don't see Host adapter being set up in the video. Is that what enables you to keep the internet connectivity or am I doing something wrong?
I am on Windows (HyperV disabled) & using Docker Toolbox on top of VirtualBox. I followed the procedure to setup a NatNetwork. But as soon as this "TopGun" network is setup, all my existing containers VMs stop running (They run again if I removed this NatNetwork). I wonder if anyone has similar experience and how did you solve this dilemma?
