These are a few pictures and videos I took while deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan. Also included are some shots from our trip home and me holding my son for the first time.
Came to your channel for the amazing JDM cars but decided to start way back in you videos and found this. Thanks for sharing this, found it pretty interesting... oh ya and.. looking forward to catching up on your car vids!
leaving your cop after 10 months and getting to experience the fabled boardwalk was like heaven! My favorite was the hajji pizza shop that played spanish music because I think they thought pizza was mexican or something hahaha good times
Bro! Literally just sittin here having a beer and thinking back on KAF. I was there 2011. You ammo? Saw the MAC pad and the dragon and figured I'd ask. Man the memories of that boardwalk too lol. Not sure if it was there when you were but we built the gym with the marines next door and the crows nest over the bunker. Good shit.
Was there in 2008 Canadian Infantry and although I didn’t spend much time in KAF I recall having a hell of a good chai Latte at the Green Bean, also recall a small insignificant rocket attack as I sipped my tea
Also in KAF 2003-2004. Boardwalk was being finished. All we had was the green bean cafe. When we left then things changed. They got the good stuff to eat lol. But thats ok, glad i wad there during my time. Had some very times but also some good times.
Nice man! I tell you, boy did they downsize when I was there. Nothing left on the boardwalk except jewelry and rug stores, plus kabobs pizza (made me sick for almost a week). Not even Canadiens to play on their hockey rink!
+TheRotaryman I heard talks of downsizing even before I left. Was the TGI Fridays still there at anytime while you were there? I went to that place one time and never stepped near it again. I swear the boneless "chicken" wings I ordered had to have been mice or something else other than chicken lol.
arghandab river valley and sha wali kot '09-'10. got some very fond memories of time spent decompressing at mid and end-of-tour at kaf. stay shitty, shit pond left my heart in kandahar
KAF 2003-04. There was not much there back then. They were just starting to build the boardwalk in 2004. And there was no vendors like BK. An Afghan coffee stand was there, and a one embroidery stand. I remember the minefield was not cleared around the airfield as well until 2004. There was signs posted not to continue go past the sign. And the shit pond. Ugh. That was nasty...lol. The good ole daze. 10th MTN DIV.
2002/2003 my buddy and I, like a couple of dumbasses, walked right into that minefield on the way to the bazaar. We were so caught up in a stupid conversation that we missed the signs and just kept walking on through. Lol stupid shit.
I was there from 2003 to 2004 it looked nothing like that... but got to see Robin Williams R.I.P I will always remember how hot it was and on Sundays walking through the mine field to the Mart for pirated movies lol
I'm a USMC Veteran....and I am beginning to think there isn't a single country in the Middle East or the World for that matter that is worth helping anymore....In Particular Iraq and A'Stan...if they haven't gotten their Shit together by now after as long as we have been there when will they ? We spent a lot of $$$ and lives on them...what have we gotten for it ? Why can't Europe protect themselves from Vlad ?...why can't China , Japan and S. Korea stop N. Korea ? Saudis are filthy rich and have young men that can fight so why can't they stop ISIS /Jihadis ?
Anyone can say something about Bulgarian contingent as they been deployed there for quite long time. Will be appreciated to see what our allies think about our boys. Thanks
thanks for posting. I'm going in 6 weeks and can't find many pics that are less then 18 mos old. any suggestions on what boots to buy or other hints? internet? cell? .
I guess it depends what your job is as far as boots go. We had free internet when I was there and it was pretty decent too. They have cell phones you can buy there but they can only call other phones bought there. I enjoyed my time there for the most part.
Yea the Army still ran the ASP when I was there 12-13. We ran the bomb dump right beside it. As we were leaving they were talking about the ASP going into the Afghan hands soon.
Thanks for the vid. We got to go to KAF for R&R once every three months for 2 days. It was heaven compared to the COP we built and defended. I was there in 2012. Milkshakes!!
I am from Kaf, thanks for your service we appreciate it,
i hope the war ends once and forever.
Was at KAF in 2006 and 2007, looks like it's really been built up. Thanks for the nostalgia!
Was there 2012 -2015...nothing like the smell of the "Poo Ponds" first thing in the morning while going for Breakfast !! Thank You for your Service !!
Thank you for sharing this! I was at KAF as Air Force Ammo 2011-2012, and again in 2019 totaling over a year’s worth of time.
