This video was taken at Butler Range, a training site about 30 miles outside Baghdad in summer of 2004 or 2005. This is 3rd Platoon, A Co 1-161 Infantry "Warpigs" of the Washington Army National Guard during OIF II.

One time i was coming from my primary school in 2005 in Baghdad and there was a line of Us troops passing through the way. I waved to a soldier who’s head was in the top of the tank, he went down for a second and came up again, then he threw me a baseball, i took it and went home. Now I’m 24 i still have it with me. Sometimes when i take it out it makes me sad or depressed because it brings me back some bad memories. Sometimes i see it and laugh and remember that particular day and that soldier. But i think i will keep it forever. I hope that man is doing well right now and have a family as i hope so, and i wish i knew him personally under different circumstances.
I’m sure right now if he knows that you still have it with you he’d be amazed and happy.

Did you ever see combat? Do you have any cool medals?
When I was a high schooler, I had a philology tutor who was a reserve officer in the Greek SF Paratroopers. Sometimes he would show up with a new MOLLE backpack, or new gloves, in MARPAT or Multicam. Whenever I asked him: damn nice gear, where did you get that?
He always answered that he got it off of a US Marine or grunt with whom he was doing a joint-exercise with (Greek SF/Marines often do joint-exercises with US Forces in the East-Med).
Basically, after the exercises were done, Greek troops would eat at the chow wagon, with Greek bean stew cooked on the spot, handmade chicken schnitzels, and freshly baked bread from a local bakery. The Americans would sit there with their crappy C-rations, staring and drooling at the bean stew and chicken like hungry jackals. That's where my tutor got his gear, since the grunts would go and willingly trade gloves or a pack just to eat some hot cooked Greek food.
Made me wonder what type of crappy food US troops would eat on deployment, and seeing this vid I got a valid answer hahaha. Thank you for your service guys, cheers from Greece..
“It says orange juice, but that could really be just about anything.” If that one line doesn’t describe my entire Army experience, idk what does.

Straight up time capsule right here.
So crazy to think where we were at this time. Basically all the wannabe 90s kids who make up the college campus now were either just hitting elementary school or where no later in 3rd grade by 2005. The true 90s kids were in Jr high- early grades in hs. The kids that graduated or literally just graduated last year didn't even know their basic addition/subtraction math yet. Dawn Of The Dead just struck the world about scary fast zombies. Hit stick still wasn't a thing in EA games yet. It was normal to still see people with cd player's in their pockets. Ipods and MP3 were basically nonexistent until 06. Shit Michael Vick didn't serve time in jail yet and ESP magazines were still popping to read in the library.
@@andrettitalk9535 I was class of 2001. Pinnacle year, I guess. lol. I loved reading your comment. Resonated deeply.
Lol good, my point of my comment was to give some minor nostalgia for the OG's while I shit on these lying kids with meme's on fb about how they were in school when 9/11 went down. Yeah we were in different worlds when that happened. I was only in 3rd grade by than. Yes 2001 was a HUGE year for the history books. I was old enough to have a conscious mind that our world as we knew it will never be the same but young enough to be brain washed very easily that we need more security etc, smh. I got out of hs in 2011 and by than we had the first black President, Xbox360/PS3 were basically our future desktop CP's that we could use on our 50 inch flat screens. Go back to 2001 and we were happy if you had one of those fat television with a Ps2 that only had a built in DVD player ( for some console's). Meanwhile Will Ferrell, Paul Judd, Steve Carell, Seth Rogan and them were about 3-5 years from taking over the comedy side of Hollywood. I have a older brother who graduated in 2002 so I can easily tell that you were born in 1983 and rn you must be between the ages of 36-37 years old lol. 80s babies rocked but boy are we from different time zones. I can only wonder what 2020s have in store for our politics, technology etc.

idkchocolate have you heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise?
@@Blballerboy Tell that to Kanjiclub
Inventory Darth Plagueis was a Dark lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise, he could use the force to influence the mitochloriens to create life.
"2004-05" this guys lunch lasted a year
It brings back memories when I was there in OIF 2. We use to do convoys going from FOB to FOB seeing all the different types dinning facilities. We had to stay positive we had no choice. Thanks God I was able to retire after 24 years of service.
It's so weird watching this as someone who joined the army in 2019 so much has changed but so much is exactly the same I swear I can smell this video.
I really hope these gentlemen got home safe and are enjoying their time back home with their families they seem like some nice guys
the camera guy said in the description of one video that everyone shown in the video got home safe and he also did another tour in 2009.
I hope he is enjoying better food at home
@@loreexplorerhistoryandgami668 Well, better food on the field, I don't know, but if he went to another tour in Irak I guess he wanted to escape his home's food really bad 😂.
@ Home's food = wife's cooking skills, therefore I agree with you.
