Hi Paul. Sorry this has happened. May I suggest that you strip out the Caravan of everything and go around the van and check everywhere. Also check around the wheel arches. The soft furnishings are a top target for them. Good luck Phil.🙂👍

Hi Phil. Thanks for watching the video. Yes we have checked all the soft furnishings and mattress and duvet which is clear with no Pooh or wee that can be seen or nests. We are going to do a complete tear down of the caravan. And give her a good clean with cleaning products that will combat mice wee and any other pathogens they might leave behind. Thanks again. Paul and Sarah

I think it would be much better if you took all the excess stuff piled on the seats home , let the caravan breath , also then you could see if any mice were in as it looks impossible to see at the moment.
Also when air doesn’t flow around seating etc it’s not good over long periods.

@vicdunni hi. The. Excess stuff you refur to isn't as bad as you might think. Yes, it's piles up, but a lot of what you see goes within the black box that sits between the cushions. So, in reality, there's not as much as you think. Thanks for watching

That mesh is just the job. We had mice in our static a few years ago and I used that to cover every vent in the van. Never had a mouse since and not only mice, stopped flies from getting in as well. Worth the coppers the mesh cost.

@davidwilkin5100 Hi David 👋 thanks for watching and commenting. We looked at many different products, and this Mesh came out on top as one that was not only affordable but would do the job too. Thanks again, Paul and Sarah

Peanut butter works really well to attract mice, use a humane trap, bait is awful stuff as it affects other species that may eat the mice. We’ve just bought a shed to store everything in when we’re not using it. We bought some rodent proof mesh to put all around and on the floor. I’ve seen too many stories of awnings with holes in.

Hi 👋 thanks for watching and commenting on the video. The mouse that we found has been got rid if so not to cause harm to other animals that come into contact with the body. Human traps. Yes your right I could have I'll admit I wasn't thinking straight at the time I bought that others. But on reflection I should have tried better. I promise you that if the traps have not been set off I will take them up and not use them again. Thank you again Paul and Sarah

Hi Paul, sorry to hear about the mice problem - we have been putting down some cotton balls soaked in peppermint in various places around the caravan - under the seats, in all the corners etc and so far have not had any sings of them - I also put ant powder around the base of the steadies to ward them off.
Fingers crossed they don't reappear - Take care both from me and Jeanette, and catch up with you soon mate.

Just a thought wouldn’t it help if your raised the front legs to try and prevent them from climbing up? Looks like you caught it at the right time though before they did to much damage!

Hi 👋 thanks for watching and commenting on the video. I could raise the steady but. You still have the jockey wheel down. And to be honest, without the steady partly down if the wind gets under the caravan, it will get blown around by the wind. Don't forget if you're. Long-term subscribers we've said plenty of times the our storage yard is high above sea level on the side of the downs which can be very windy. But I do ge what you mean. Thanks again, Paul and Sarah 😉

I feel your pain Paul but PLEASE don't place those traps outside. We has a cat many years ago that lost a paw from one.

Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting on the video. Because of the many comments we have had, I can tell you I've asked the storage manager to remove them for me. I don't want people to think I don't care as I do about all animals. So, for that reason, they have now gone. Thanks again, Paul and Sarah

We stayed mouse free because we had cats in the van. Not sure Grace will do the job LOL.

Those traps will kill birds as well when outside

unfortunately you have broken crru guide lines one traps should be placed in boxs to stop non target species getting hurt the mouse you caught was a field mouse poison should not be used to stop secondary poisoning

    • @paulandsarahcaravanlife
      @paulandsarahcaravanlife  2 месяца назад

@davidgresham458 Thanks for the comment. As I understand it yo can use traps but only for some amount of time so as not to be exposed to other animals to the traps for too long. As regards bait, these are only as the traps a short term exposure no guide lines has been breached as for as I'm aware

Your comments are noted and I will be using the traps and bate for a short amount of time.

I would not have used those traps externally as they are not enclosed which could cause harm to other animals. Mice are an issue that we have to control unfortunately as they can get through the smallest of holes. Hope you have got rid of them.
