The scammers tried that with me but unfortunately for them I had the watsapp 2 step verification set up on my phone so even though they ;logged me out of my phone they could not log into another phone using my number. The 2 step verification is really important. Thanks for sharing
These dangerous and dishonest individuals are adding to your reputation at half mast and severely shaken since you were clumsily involved in the schemes of these crooks who collected thousands of $100 from people for so-called H1 visas.
I have been a victim of this scammers, it’s very painful and I don’t wish anyone to fall victim- I was scammed off 500k naira , I thought I was speaking with my fellow nurse coworker, don’t be a victim guys. Thank you Adeola for sharing
Two things I've heard of to help prevent this. 1) Because phone numbers can be spoofed (or hidden), hang up and call the person back with the actual contact that you have for them. 2) If possible, especially with immediate family, have a code word that only you all know that you can use to verify. If you are suspicious, ask them for the code word (and vice versa). It should be something not common.

A guy asked me to send him a code, then over the phone he heard me telling someone, please bring me that AFOSE lol, then this guy heard me and he disappeared over the phone! Of course he understand what that mean in our language 🤣🤣🤣 But of course I was just bluffing lol Fear catch am.

Exactly what happened to me. They couldn't get to log into another phone. Took me like 2days to reenter my whatsapp

One thing scammers hate is video calls. If in doubt ask them ro get on a video call. They'll give you all kinds of excuses why they can't do it.
