I wish I could have shared a message like that with all of then. I would snag my parents CDs and jam out when they came on the radio. I am happy to say my children enjoy them too.
I lived in a town called Seabrook which was about 25 minutes from Dusty hills House in San Leon. Anyway me and a dude were in our work truck and we stopped at a store. We saw a nice Mercedes pull up and out comes Dusty Hill and he's pumping his gas. We pulled up at the back of his car and asked was he Dusty and he said ya. After about 15 seconds he asked so what are you guys up to and that conversation lasted like 10 minutes. We took off he went into the store. About 5 minutes later he zoomed passed us and honked his horn and waved. The dude was so down to earth that the conversation we had seemed like I'd known him for yrs. I mean he was just cool and nice and don't have to talk for 10 minutes. God bless you Dusty for being a special human
I just went and seen them last night in Harrigton Delaware, a bucket list checked off. I wished Hill was still there, but I was very impressed with Elwood, though he seemed a little scared at first, last night he and Gibbons were just like Hill and Gibbons were, and his playing is extremely good. ZZ Top are Americana to my opinion. Every song they play makes me think of Texas blues, because to me thats what they are, and every song I hear brings back a big part of life I have lived, freinds I knew, some past on, and a whole mess of good memories before aches and pains, grey hair, pot bellies, and when I used potions of my past. They were there in my good and bad times, being a hero and a villain, they helped me grow up, and Ill always be forever thankful for them......

As my brother played with Dusty's brother Rocky Hill n so we had after show passes n I said to Dusty in his dressing room, I'll trade you my Texas hat pin I had on my vest for his autograph n Dusty said ok n he put the hat pin on his vest. Billy and Dusty - real nice guys met them when I was in Radio in Houston, hung out and down to earth guys. will never forget when they invited me up on stage to play with them, at The Galanent Knight - a club that is no longer around, but the late 80s was fun and so were Billy and Dusty. God bless you Dusty RIP
I never got to see them but I did have the pleasure of meeting Dusty and getting to talk him for a few minutes, and was super awesome, and I've loved ZZ TOP ever since I was a kid.
First saw Dusty at The Cellar in Ft Worth with his brother Rocky. Just the 2 of them. No band. Rocky on guitar & Dusty on bass. Playing, singing, & telling jokes. I was with "The Other Group". Me, Frank Beard, James Adams, Jerry & David Pool. Still in high school. Frank quit our band to join "The Cellar Dwellers". That was where he got to know the Hill brothers. Later joined them in "The American Blues". They travelled back & forth between the 2 Cellar clubs in Ft. Worth & Houston. Where they met Billy Gibbons and the rest is history.
That is so cool ... the boys rocked edmonton canada tonite with Elwood getting more confident with each show ... of course we miss dusty but I'm glad zz top are still ripping it up !

You mentioned that they had been together as a band for a long time, but what you didn't include was that according to the Guinness book of world records. ZZ Top was the band who had been together the longest while keeping all the original members. No other band has even come close

Much respect and props to these guys for skillfully and successfully navigating the treacheries of Fame, Fortune and the Music Business for 50-plus years, amazing. RIP to Dusty Hill, he left us way too soon.
I was in line behind Billy Gibbons at Kmart Third and Fairfax, he was wearing his green cap....I thought I was dreaming 😆 Saw them in Detroit around 1977 fantastic show. Had Rick James in my taxi...another fantastic show 😆.....Saw Bob Marley and the Wailers 1976....these are the rewards of being a 62 year old fuck...🤣
Rest in peace Dusty!
Dear Grunge, I thank you making this Video!
Great film, I knew next to nothing about the man until now. Cheers.
Loved Dusty I have a canvas portrait of him on my recroom wall
Ian Hill(Judas Priest) and Dusty Hill.Same last names and similar technique on the bass.Strange but love both of these guys.Very underated players
they alway seemed like regular guys you could talk to or get really lucky and jam with. i glad to know that Dusty wanted to prove that by having a " regular" job. thanks for the video
Seen them in Berlin Germany back in 1981 in a little place called the Nuevelt theater. It held about 1000-1200 people and didn't have any seats.
Dusty Hill., Always Loved, Never Forgotten.
🙏 Legendary 🌹
Awesome back story!
Was so glad I was able to see them live, man it was loud, great concert !
I had wanted to see them since I was 10. I finally got to see them a few years ago and they were fantastic!
I always loved it when he and BFG swapped parts.
Thank you thank you thank you! I got to see these guys in 1967 in a place called the Stardust ballroom in Corpus Christi Texas. Admission was a dollar and I could reach out and touch Billy Gibbons Boop I was so close to the stage which came up to my waist
Dusty can not be replaced
Fuck I didn't know Dusty had passed until right now. Oh man. So glad I saw you in Cork City about 8 years ago. May you rest in peace you true rocker and thanks for all the music and songs.
Saw them several times over the years. Does anyone else remember their 'World Wide Texas Tour'? They had a revolving stage with cactus and animals like a coyote and a longhorn steer. Before Jimmy Hendrix passed he said in Guitar Player magazine that Givens was one of his favorites and he had learned a lot from his playing.👍☮️
It's GIBBONS, not Givens. You should know that, since you've seen them several times over the years... Numb Nutz!
@@henryshockem9242 stop picking up on typo's ya gob shite
@@henryshockem9242 I have to use talk to text because of a eye injury. I'm a combat vet and nearly lost my sight in combat. I'm extremely sorry that a typo from the talk to text app caused you so much discomfort. I'll try to do better in the future.👍☮️
@@sonnypate6808 Oh c'mon now. You don't have to play the victim. It's not that big of a deal, I thought it was funny. What your doing now is passive/aggressive guilt manipulation. Just stop it before you embarrass your self. I am also a vet. ok? But I'm not gonna throw it out there over a silly "typo" on youtube. If you really are a wounded vet, I would sorta expect you to be a little tougher than that. It seems that your hyper-sensitive over it. Maybe go to the VA and get a good shrink. I did, and it worked wonders for me. Discomfort? Hardley. Maybe just go listen to some music or meditate and I'm sure you will feel better.
Wasn't the stage in the shape of Texas or am I remembering that incorrectly??
The "Little ol" Band from Texas. ❤
Best G. D. Band in the World!
He also worked at a airport as a guy named joe
This band is why I got into metal and rock and roll
They certainly got a lot to choose from for one hell of a band up there. The Allman brothers with Dusty Hill.... so many more. It’s been a rough few years
Allways Loved This Band
ZZ fan since Tres Hombres. All in thereafter.
Saw them for Tejas, Cow Palace.
The loudest clearest bass ever (first, LZ,,,,about a dozen Winterland gigs and more).
Rest In Peace, Dusty Hill.
Seeing ZZ Top was as exciting and as heavy and slayer and Metallica! Amazing musicians, loud precise and entertaining as hell!!!
I loved zz Topp glad I got to see them in concert

Glad they're still bangin. What Dusty wanted. Wish I was Elwood Francis. RIP Dusty. Maybe I'll get to see em.
Bass players are usually the unsung heroes of many a good band 🎼🤘🏻
Here lies Dusty Hill. His base gave us a thrill. No Hill, No Thrill
