Billy Gibbons is the literal definition of cool 😎
quite opposite
@@Markustajahoyrylaiva why’s that? Curious as to what your definition of cool is...
No he’s cool. I met him Jan 2020 and I was working but he still had time to talk to us for a few minutes. Even handed me a sizable tip. He’s so dow to earth even as he ages gracefully.
@@carriewatkins313 Like fine wine
If you say that a person or thing is 'cool' , you are saying that they are fashionable and attractive. You know who actually WAS cool? James Dean. He kinda defined it. James Dean is the king; nobody is cooler than James Dean.
This was way too short of an episode for such a legend, need more
yes thats a fact
Check out their Netflix movie . The title is something like Best little band from Texas .wow ! I just watched it couple nights ago . Must see for ZZ Top fans.
My brother had an exact replica of the eliminator. He met zz top after a show and said they were the nicest people.
True!
Billy is nice indeed. I had a 63 ford fairlane. After a concert we where drinking a coke and had a burger when one of thier limos stopped. Billy opened the window and stuck his head out. "That's a nice car you got there." Talked a bit about it. He actualy took a picture of us and the car and gave us a cd he signed there on the spot. "Drive carefully and I realy like tha car" and than they drove off.
@@gp. yeah it was a few years ago for sure
@@cellpat7392 unfortunately he sold it then got a 98 Toyota supra instead! I'm still sad about it haha
@ Hugh Janus - Everyone who has met any/all 3 of these guys say they're cool down to earth fellows. Talking to them is like talking to a neighbor over the fence.
Haven't met them myself, but I wouldn't mind.
Who here remembers when MTV played music videos and all of ZZ Tops videos with cars?
So true but this video could of been longer and showed the car more and guitar collection that im sure he has
This cat right here
@Timothy Mckee really
@Timothy Mckee......If you have to ask, why did you come here?
Musta been the 80's, when white people were still allowed into the music industry.
Billy has worn sunglasses probably longer than Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder; and he ain't even blind.
legend. He even wears car cleaning mitten on his head.
Richard Petty: Hold my beer.
lol
Right on brother lmao 🤣
Yeah z z top wow.
Absolutely love Billy Gibbons... the epitome of a car guy!
Same three guys playing the same three chords... love it! Iconic band with iconic sound 😎
Bass player passed away this year. 😢
Anything with Billy Gibbons in it garner's a 👍 from me !
I've met Billy a couple of times. The first time in west Houston he was getting into that Mercedes Convertible. He could not have been nicer
Had the absolute honour to watch the magic of ZZ Top in person when Dusty was still with us. It was such an epic show! RIP DH!
Pretty ingenious idea, with the aircraft landing light.. A real rod with rattles, squeaks & vibrations. Hats off to Billy & Jay, for a great ride!
And Jimmy Shine who built it
Landing light be awesome if on the 24v system. On 12v kinda weak.
@@freakindawgen I’m sure
@@freakindawgen The bulb was likely swapped to one made for a 12v system.
My problem with it is that, to use it, you have to put it right up in your line of sight. Sort of defeats the purpose. It's a really cool idea though. Guys might start searching for accessories designed for aircraft when building or designing their hot rods.
@@robeddy3722 it's a sealed beam with a large heavy duty filament that requires the 24 Volts.
Billy Gibbons and Jay Leno...Two Class Acts!
Ya gotta love Billy Gibbons, it doesn't get more real than Billy, and the music is flawless, whats not to like.
I actually saw Jay Leno a week ago tomorrow on a Hollywood tour van I've got video and pictures of him near our van it was awesome to see him he's the nicest guy you could ever meet he actually spoke to me and waved
Sure he is
I got a picture with Billy gibbons in 2017 and that photo has had more influence in my life than a lot of things. As a Texan he's my hero! Thank you so much!
"If you can't hear it coming a mile away,it ain't worth building!"
Jimmy Shine.
He failed to mention exactly which Mexican restaurant he was headed to from point A. It's called Tres Amigos Cafe y Cantina (cantina is Spanish for "bar" for those who are tex-mex impaired). It's opening on April 22nd in Houston and it will be full of zztop memorabilia. They (of course) will be pouring endless amounts of Pura Vida tequila for everyone. This restaurant is also a charitable one, 75% of the proceeds will be donated to the St Jude Foundation. Nope I didn't get paid to say all of that. I'm just a Houstonian. It's how we do things down here. This town is like a gigantic family. We love hard and we love long. I can't wait to fall into THAT food coma! God bless
Jay is in California the restaurant they were going to is in BAHA. Tres Amigos www.houstoniamag.com/eat-and-drink/2021/04/tres-amigos-zz-top-billy-gibbons would be a long drive.
it's just taco bell. i saw some diapers in the back.
Will definitely put it on the "too see list" next time I get into the Space City!
Jimboy's woooohoooooo
I'm from Houston, too. Thanks for passing that along.
My favorite band of all time, it's how you feel when listening to they're music that puts you there.
I don't mean to question death....but Dusty Hilll having to leave is CRIMINAL...these guys are saints of the blues- rock music genre...and the world is a lesser place without him...God bless billy
A haw haw how? aww
Absolutely my favorite band.
Sad to think we lost Dusty about 3 months after this was filmed.
When I was driving tractor-trailer over the road in the 70s, the ZZ Top 8 tracks were some of me favorite driving music.
RIP Dusty.
You don't get any bigger legends than these two. Rock On
Billy for sure. Who’s the other one?
Billy has been rocking that car drying mitt as a hat for 20 plus years. Bloody legend.
I think all the hats Billy has worn have been hiding the fact that he's probably been bald since the early '70's. I can see that he was losing it in pre-ZZ Top photos. I started losing my hair at about 18 also.
@@leonardhudson3810 don't worry about it. My head is shinier than Billy Gibbons hot rod collection.
Yeah, and Dusty Hill and Stevie Ray Vaughan were baldies, too.
Some guys are self conscious about that sort of thing.

Well done!
Saw ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd in '75, what a concert.

The word 'Cool' just doesn't even cut it !!!!
Awsome 👍
Thank you so much!!!! I love hanging with my Hot Rod Family!!! I always have a blast!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Who else can wear a car wash mit on their head and still be cool?

Great concept, and legendary get together. Thanks guys!
I'm pretty sure most of us who watch this because of you jay and those awsome
rides you keep sharing with us. ZZ TOP is a bonus and Cnbc is a mail pigeon delivering the video.
My wife and I met the band after a show in Laughlin NV .......... each of them had their own diesel pusher bus. Very nice and cordial guys !!
I don't expect any kind of response from Billy I doubt he ever sees it but I think he is the best guitar player I ever seen or heard. If I could ever meet Billy F. Gibbons in person would be a true blessing. I have tried to learn his style of playing guitar but haven got it yet Billy is my guitar picking idol.
When musicians like Jimi Hendrix and Prince think you're good - you're good.
I Met Billy Gibbons here in the UK at our Supernats.... and had a beer with Jimmy Shine too...they are both Cool Guys, and Billy even signed my book (The man his cars and guitars) I will always treasure it.
Always loved the music.....& the cars!
By far, this episode is definitely more unusual, than the rest of all the others. But, I like the car and it’s always nice to hear from ZZ Top. Billy Gibbons âges pretty nicely and he still looks very young too! Thank you for this downloaded RUclips vlog. Nice show! Stay safe, Jay Leno. Johnny, Montréal, Canada.
Now that’s a nice ride.
Classic
3 classics in the same scene. Outstanding!
Lol old people 🤣
I smiled the whole time I watched this, mission complete. 😁👍👍👍👍
Two iconic legends and a bloody nice ride! 👌 John from Australia 🇦🇺
if any one of us had Leno's collection we wouldn't want to drive anybody elses car...his collection is one of a kind

That classic key toss made me crack up.

Billy & JAY you guys have it made .you both love your jobs and cars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is one of the best top chop tops 33/34 fords ever !

Class of '83. Cruising and racing. I'd do it all over again, if I could.
Thanks guys. I really, really needed that!
I met billy gibbons,in Houston Texas. He is so awesome, cool, humble, and kind. 👍😎
Jimmy is a legend, one of the most decent guys in the car and TV business.
He didn't chop that top! My good friend Rudy Rodriguez started that coupe and chopoed the top too! No mention of him anywhere! Jimmy don't take credit where it's not due. Rudy's the best in the biz!
I couldn't help but notice that all the music was sorta like ZZ but none of it actually was. That's licensing for ya!
True dat, pretty sad when you can’t play your own music in video
Billy can play his own music. Jay could pay ZZ for the use of their tunes but the show producers won't want to pay extra for something we gonna watch on RUclips for free. I'm just pleased to see it. 😎
Agree! Sad, It's lacking... the essence. I remember going to this place, Four Aces Movie Ranch close to Lake LA, so many nice memories there..

Coolest dude alive. Hendrix told him how talented he was and he is still down to earth . Think about that.. I miss the 80's man. Best music and movies . Born in 83 the year the eliminator ..the record for zz top came out wt that year
The 60's & 70's were far cooler, especially the music, cars & movies...do your homework and drop the bias.

My best friend from high school Larry, designed Cadzilla For Billy. He’s a great designer. But even more importantly, He’s a truly great lifelong friend!

Fun fact, Billy performs the solo on the Queens of the Stone Age song Burn The Witch. Immediately after recording it, Billy remarked that something sounded a little off... Then he realized it was because his beard got caught in the guitar strings.
Anyway, they used that take on the record because it still sounded awesome.
Thanks for that, love both bands, I did not know about that solo, great song and even better now that I know that back story.
Do you know if it's Billy playing the backing track for this video? It's a bit changed, sounds like Phil X maybe???
He's often talked about his "beard harmonics".
WOW - I was the 1st person to introduce them to each other Jay and zztop, back stage in Houston - when I worked at 93Q - Jay and I were friends for 8 years and I sang with Billy and Dusty in a club in houston later, The Gallant Knight club = NICE guys.

Jimmy Shine was a character in the 1980 movie 'Hollywood Knights'.
He says the body is all held together with clamps , Jimmy shine most of loved that line ,only J could get away with that line .
It sounded a little "loose" when they were driving.
Came for Billy and the 34 but seeing Jimmy Shine step out of the car was a fantastic surprise!
I'm curious to know what happened to the relationship with Jimmy and So-Cal Speed Shop? Given his attention to detail and work ethic, I figured that Jimmy Shine would be a natural to follow Alex at So~Cal.
Thanks for the fun. Guys
Nice touch at the very end.
Billy so cool to even open the front that he get a mechanic to do the job. Lol
Imagine if Billy cut his hand doing something like that. It happens.
Perhaps he didn't know how to open it.

@@GregKrynen Yes, I'm aware of the ZZ Top song Cheap Sunglasses, I just find it odd Jay would choose to use the term while at the same time making it visible that Billy is wearing Ray Bans. But who knows, maybe for Jay a couple hundred dollars for a pair of sunglasses is cheap.
Ray Bans lost it for me with Bausch & Lomb got rid of them and Luxotica took them over.

This is so cool!
Why is Jimmy Shine running the Milwaukee body grinder on the tire sidewall?
Laughed out loud!

Love the car so far minus the engine.
I’ve never been a fan of mixing Ford, Chevy, and Dodge together in any fashion. I’d rather see that Ford with a Ford flat head. That would have completed this ride.
That’s my two cents anyways.
Well, my two cents (sorry, 2 pence. From the UK.) is that different manufacturers at different times have different areas of excellence. One will produce the best body, another will produce the best engine of a particular type, and other will have the best gearboxes, or some other key parts. If you're creating a custom car, which is already something new out of something old, then why does it matter if you combine the best components to get the best vehicle you want? If you're modifying components anyway to optimise them for your particular application, then whichever manufacturer produced the base component originally matters less than what you actually do to it. And in most cases when you tune up a car you tend to use specialist parts from a whole host of smaller parts manufacturers who specialise in performance parts - better inlet manifolds, filters, carburettors, exhaust systems, brake callipers, dampers, springs, wheels, and so-on. Why then must you suddenly not use a gearbox, for example, from another manufacturer who also makes whole cars, just because they were a competitor making whole cars and not just components for other manufacturer's cars? It doesn't make sense.
@@herseem i love the rivalry between these makes. i happen to be an unapologetic purist when it comes to the holy hot rod trinity here in the states which is FORD, CHEVY, CHRYSLER.
think of it has having pride in your favorite sports team. do i need to explain team loyalty? logic's got nothing to do with it!
