Thanks Tank, great analysis and reaction as always!! I generally avoid purely harsh vocals (regardless of the insane instrumental talent- like with Arch Enemy). But, if there is a decent smattering of clean vocals - like with Epica and Fear Factory- I can definitely dig it. This song will be added to my playlist for sure.
I am shocked by how long the hat stayed on in this one, When I first heard this song, i was headbanging like a maniac within 5 seconds of that main riff kicking in!
I read an interview where Alyssa said she didn't want to step on the toes of old arch enemy and Angela fans and so she chose to just do harsh vocals. It was actually Angela herself that's tried to talk her into using her amazing cleans. Also I had the same reaction the moment I heard her cleans, definitely got a little emotional.
There it is. A f*ing masterpiece. One of the greatest compositions of all time. Just magical. Such a f*ing intense atmosphere. Every single second. There are just soooooooooo few songs on THIS level. Goosebumps on goosebumps on goosebumps.
Alissa's vocals have improved tremendously on this record. I wasn't the biggest fan of her growls, but they are definitely the best she has put on record to date. The whole band sounds amazing.
Oh man I didnt want to state this in public, but after you said it I am somewhat proud to claim that I shed a "water in the corner of my eye" when I heard Alissa going for the clean vocals. Dont know why, it's just the way it is. I feel you man! She is the beast and a beauty what comes to vocals and appearance.
The musical combo of all these great musicians has transformed Arch Enemy. It’s straight up God Tier with this band. I can’t wait to jam the whole album too Tank. I thought Angela departing years ago would be the downfall and I’m glad I was wrong because Alissa is a beast. 🤘🤘
I absolutely love your take on things and I agree 100% on Alissa and the prowess of Jeff and Michael. My favorite Arch Enemy song to date! Adding the clean vocals has not only changed the dynamic of what they can do musically, they now have the ability to gain a whole new audience of people who dig metal but just can't get behind all harsh vocals. If they can mix in more of this, it will be the most successful album of their career! So many people in metal circles say that it has to be this way or that way because that kind of metal is not like this kind of metal and there are rules to define genres. Here's the thing, real art has no rules. Sometimes musicians remember this and that is when you get songs like this one!
Looking forward to seeing your reaction to this Tank, I have a feeling you are about to lose your s*** on this one. I absolutely love this song and can't stop listening to it. :)
Deceiver, Deceiver already blew me away. With that little black-metal-esque riff it immediately became one of my atleast top 15, maybe top 10 arch enemy songs. Then came House of Mirrors and holy shit... it was soooo fucking catchy... my power metal heart fell already in love with it within the first minute.. since then it is on repeat and already my most listened to song over the past 12 months and definitely a contender when it comes to my favourite Arch Enemy songs ever... And now this... the perfect intro to an album or a live show. like you mentioned.. this last solo part of Amott / Loomis at the end is just orgasmic... again probably one of my favourite AE songs ever. I'm so hyped for July. We might have a real masterpiece ahead of us :)
I love Alissa's clean voice. The mix between cleaner and growl voice is so awesome. That's a breath of fresh air. They should do more of it. The song is my new favourite form Arch Enemy
I've never been Arch Enemy's fan, I knew only few songs. But when Deceiver, Deceiver came out I decided to check it out and... damn, I loved everthing about it. After this 3rd single I'm fucking obsessed and I can't wait for the full album!
I did see an interview with Michael and Alissa where he said that her abilities to also sing were opening up writing options they didn't have before. So it sounds like a direction and I fi king love this!!!!
I had never really gotten into Arch Enemy before and then I really liked Deceiver Deceiver and then this one is just way more up my alley with the guitar riffs, leads, and solos. Add in the mix of clean vocals and I think this will be the first Arch Enemy album that I will buy. Will also have to check out some of their older stuff.
This band is just ridiculous and still getting better and better. The musicians are amazing and Alyssa is possibly the best female vocalist in metal. This song has pretty much been on repeat since it came out. Also great reaction video!
In an interview from the Will To Power album, Alissa stated it was Michael Amott's decision to use her clean vocals on Reason To Believe. So I'm sure it was the same for this song.
What an awesome introduction to this band! Never heard of them before, but I'm an instant fan! That was epic and so much better than the vast majority of "music" being released currently.
This is exactly what I was expecting when AWG and Loomis joined Arch Enemy. Alissa isn't Angela, but that ain't a bad thing. She's a phenomenal vocalist who produces her screams and clean vocals spectacularly well. It gives AE the same "Beauty and Beast" dimension that Epica, Nightwish, Delain, and so many other bands have used... But with one singer. A beautiful beast. And you don't even have to be watching to just KNOW when Loomis takes over the solo. His phrasing is great and his picking is so damn articulate, even at breakneck speeds. I'm absolutely excited for this album.
i knew you would love it dude. i got exactly the same thougts listening to it first time. on the original video i commented this: "Love that oldschool heavy Metal/ thrash Metal parts. Great you Guys are finally taking a step Back from the Classic Arch enemy Sound, your individual Talents are worth to be heared. Theres a Bit much going on Here, but i cant wait for your Future Work! 아치에너미 최고 !!!!! I LOVE Arch Enemy !!! I enjoyed watching the cool new song video! This song is really sensational. I remember when I went to a Korean performance. Be sure to go to the concert! It's best! - Thank You (KR)
Honestly, I've seen so many reaction videos on youtube in general and yours are always the best. It's so much fun watching you actually enjoying the music, headbanging, tearing up and smiling so much that it's simply contagious. Please keep doing it because it spreads so much joy and makes me want to listen to stuff I hadn't even considered before.
What in the actual fuck? This track is absolutely on fire 🤘😎 the sound and feel of this is sitting right in my happy place. Arch Enemy is climbing my fave ladder. Cheers brother.
Since I listen mostly to power metal, this is probably my top song from Arch. Can't wait for album. Amazing sound, amazing vocals and whole song is great
Great reaction! 1st off... love that u pointed out the throwback vibe of this tune. Bro, the entire into is an homage to old school British heavy metal. Next... Alissa FINALLY gets to shine at being a hybrid vocalist. She's a 👹 at clean & aggro vox & hybrid vocalists run the game. And finally... AE, this is how u guys should've brought Alissa in from the beginning. Tank in regards to what u were questioning about that, I'm wondering if Angela being their manager now said something.
These 3 tracks have been so friggin' good. Really looking forward to the album, but looking forward to the tour even more since I'll be getting a ticket to their 4/30 show in Worcester, MA.
This single just doubled my excitement for the new Arch Enemy album. This year is going to have so much kick ass music! New Sabaton, new Star One from Arjen, new Arch Enemy and probably a new Devin Townsend album too.
Very happy that Alissa got to use the clean vocals for Arch Enemy. AE I’ve always thought were on par with all the Swedish greats (At The Gates, In Flames, Opeth, Katatonia) and aside from At The Gates they all included clean vocals to some degree. This definitely gives them a new dynamic. Why wouldn’t you utilize her full talents? Great stuff.
I love this progression of AE. Been waiting for Alissa to sing. Now here's to hoping that Jeff just starts tearing the doors off like we know that he really can.
As I'm getting quite used to it :D awesome reaction, you took the words right out of my mouth. Alissa's combination of cleans and growls is insanely good and I hope they continue embedding this mix in their upcoming album.
Ahhh bro not gonna lie I was a little disappointed when u said that u know that there were clean vocals but it's still a banger. Thx again and...see u next time!🖤
OMG. This is like my Third listen and each time it gets better and better. Since the first song came out in early October I keep waiting for the next one. 3 songs and 3 different melodies but all signature sound. The power and feelings I get listening to them is what I think we all need. Keep up the great tunes Tank.

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I just love your videos and I've found so many great bands through your channel. Keep it up! And while I'm at it. Yesterday I got an email about all the bands playing at Dalhalla Brinner (Dalhalla Burning) this summer here in Sweden. The venue is built within an old limestone quarry - a really cool place and yes I've got tickets. I guess you would kill to get to be here @TankTheTech. In Flames are the main band and playing before them - Tesseract, Lorna Shore and my new house gods Orbit Culture!!! I just can't wait to be there!

Not unusual at all to catch me listening to Thomas Dolby to Testament to Techno and many other avenues in any given day. (Currently playing "Crushed" by Front 242 as I type this.) @byerenny Totally get what you mean! It's good to listen to all different kinds of music and accept all genres! My God...It's like listening to early In Flames mixed with some 80's Iron Maiden and a touch of some nice cleans. Very out of the ordinary for Arch Enemy. Looking forward to their album.
Finally clean vocals from Alyssa, she not only has the voice of the devil but also the voice of an angel!
But here, it's more like a warrior freaking angel
Hah! The question is, which is which? ;-)
How can people not like this..... Its AWESOME
This song is fucking AWESOME I Love Arch Enemy.
