My father worked at Southern Motors from 1950-1984. In 1966 the dealership changed the name to Madison Cadillac. My father was known as "Buddy". He knew Elvis Presley. Elvis bought a new car every year, one for George Klein, Elvis's best friend.
Great video, and what a gorgeous Caddy! It's like a work of art. Shame what American Cars have become now days compared to what they were. Thanks for sharing!
Again Elvis giving away all them cars to friends and strangers. Which of course he carried on doing for the rest of his life. Great car they have there and it's a great looking car. Thanks for the upload
My late father once owned a 1958 Cadillac Series 62 hardtop coupe in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It came from Detroit basically stock, with few options. It had a white exterior, with aqua/green interior. Although it was the lowest-priced model, it attracted attention wherever he drove it. In my opinion, Cadillacs from this era seem to look more elegant in “white.”
Amazing that a previous owner painted it from its original two-tone, all because his wife didn't like the base color. Pity he wasn't big enough to tell her no-way !
1957 Cadillac Coupe De Ville is a Classic. Now give it a nice factory paint restore , it's worth a good new paint job. There's not many of them around,
I think that's the Car Elvis bought for Marion Keisker at Sun Records to thank her for really being the person responsible for getting his career started. She was the person who told Sam Phillips that she thought he had something special and he should call him and hear him in person. If this is that car the value could be in the 7 figures.
Southern Motors in Memphis turned into Madison Cadillac. The old building was still there until fairly recently. There is a photo of Elvis walking around into the back entrance with Linda Thompson and some of the mafia. Also, if that was a gift to a “woman who worked at Sun”, would that be Marion Keisker’s car? It could be argued that Marion pushed over the first domino that started Elvis’ career. That car belongs at Graceland or Sun.
It's a beautiful Cadillac... Possibly given to Marion Kiesker at Sun? The Autronic Eye history however, is a tad different. A beautiful car, nonetheless!
@ 4:04 The Autronic Eye is mentioned as also being able to detect (and warn of) red stoplights. I've always understood GM's Autronic Eye to be a device that could automatically dim "high beam" headlights as an oncoming car was approaching then restored them as that car passed. I owned a 1959 Cadillac CDV w/an Autronic Eye. There were no warnings for "stop" lights, nor were there any buzzer-indicators. Can any "GM Autronic Eye Experts" (I am not an expert) substantiate this guy's claim? THANK YOU in advance!
He was famous for also buying a Cadillac for a lady who was in the showroom just admiring the cars. She was to have told him that she couldn’t afford to purchase a Cadillac and he just bought one for her. Does anyone know about this and has that Cadillac survived?
There’s a story that says that Elvis’s car had broke down one night and this little old lady picked him up and gave him a ride, she didn’t know who he was. About a week later she had a knock on the door and learned that Elvis had sent her a brand new Cadillac !!

Elvis lineage aside, this is one gorgeous automobile! A work of art!
Maybe Elvis didn't drive it but he definitely eyeballed every inch of it and kicked the tires. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed it.

Wow never knew they had that technology to put in them 50s cars those days. Elvis was a very generous man. Great video very interesting. Thanks man.
I wish they made cars these days with that old style. They really had class and character.

That’s the first person I thought of when he said it was bought for a women at Sun.

Elvis believed in paying it forward that's forsure
Great episode!!! Who was the Sun Records employee who received the car from Elvis? Keep up the great work!!!
He was famous for also buying a Cadillac for a lady who was in the showroom just admiring the cars. She was to have told him that she couldn’t afford to purchase a Cadillac and he just bought one for her. Does anyone know about this and has that Cadillac survived?
so this was Marion Keiskers car?
How much is this car worth today
So who was the car originally given too? It wasn't Marion at Sun? Why was the name of the owner of the car lot beeped out?
I got some blue suede shoes too
I'd offer the car to Graceland for 5 million dollars !!!
Auto dimming just turned the high beams off.
That's all.
I hope they don't touch the interior its only original once.

I would never do a full teardown for a full restoration, I would just do the exterior paint back and keep the surviving interior untouched
They all say there gonna do a complete resto until they get the estimate...lol
That is a beautiful car
