Had the Build NRace game, played it a few times with my brothers, a bit easier to control with nunchuk than tilt controls. Seeing you clip through stairs and vault off the track at every decline was a good hit of nostalgia for me.
I remember I had Build N Race. Hated it but the manual booklet was like "these are the backstory of the characters and their vehicles match it" and LJ's is just "He's a fair cop in his mind" and one dude's whole bio is "He likes to cruise in his Camaro from highschool"
BIT OF BACKGROUND about SUPER PICKUPS · It reuses assets from the PS2 era of Milestone games (makers of RIDE nowadays) - All tracks used in the game had appeared in games like SCAR, Evolution GT (SCAR's sequel) and Superbikes Riding Challenge (prequel to Ride and semi-sequel to SCAR). There are 3 very different types of tracks in those games: real racetracks (Hockenheim, Valencia, Donington Park, Albacete, etc), real street circuit (Milan, Berlin and Barcelona) and fantasy tracks that mostly use the shapes of real circuits (you can find Imola, Kyalami, Nurburgring GP and Phillip Island if you pay attention). The game itself seems to be heavily inspired by Australian utes combined with the couple of muscle trucks that arrived to Europe during the 2000s (Ford F150 SVT Lightning and Dodge RAM SRT-10).
I was gonna comment about this. So much of the game screams "Milestone", from the very first second I thought it looked like a PS2 game then realized it pretty much was just a PS2 game ported to the Wii, and reusing assets from a few PS2 racing games I've played when I was a kid too...
If you're up for a sequel video, I'd be interested in seeing licenced shovelware racing games (things like Bigfoot Collision Course, Indianapolis 500 Legends, even M&M's Kart Racing).
You are quickly becoming my favorite racing /NASCAR game content guy on RUclips. I just love your sense of humor and the way you articulate is amazing. Nobody else is crazy enough to play these games on RUclips except for you and it's highly entertaining cuz I never knew of them cuz I never had a Wii. Now I want to get a Wii just so I can play them!!!
The massively successful Maximum Racing: GP Classic Racing is a virtually unchanged Golden Age of Racing, a budget-tier 2005 game. Circa 2007-08 there was a promotion here in Hungary where some General Mills cereals had racing games in it if you bought a pack of 5 and somehow that thing was one of the games alongside genuinely decent titles like Total Immersion Racing or Ford Racing 2.
In Portugal I think it was the Nestle cereal who had the games but they would come individually. 1 box = 1 game. They had Ford Racing 2 which was awesome, Crazy Taxi, Total Immersion Racing and Starsky and Hutch
11:22. "Perpendiculous" isn't technically a word, but if anyone can come up with a phrase that better describes some idiot being parked sideways on the road in a manner that will inevitably cause a crash, I'd like to hear it.
As soon as I saw the XS logo and BF Goodrich sponsor on the Super Pickups cover, I could tell from my experience with DT Racer that we were in for some serious stinkers.
Build N Race feels like a wannabe Trackmania with NOS and Collisions... That's probably why I liked it when I was little. Probably one of the reasons I got into Trackmania in the first place along side of Trackmania Wii. This was a fun video to watch! Thanks for the laughs
I remember playing Golden Age of Racing or GP Classic Racing on the PS2 and thinking that the physics for a cheap nasty bargain bin game about single seater racing was pretty good. I mean there wasn't many other games at the time where you could climb over people in a crash like you'd see in real life. Then I played Noble Racing, another game they made based on Sports cars, and I seem to recall you could climb over people just as easily...
Hey bro, I just wanted to let you know that I’m loving your content, you came up in my feed out of random one day and now your one of the only RUclipsrs I watch right now, your extremely underrated and I’m just saying, keep up the awesome work and you’ll be going places for sure, keep it up brother!
I had Build 'n' Race as a little kid! My grandparents bought it for us because it has an award on the cover (can't remember what but it definitely wasn't reputable). I used to spend all my time building custom tracks that only I would understand so I could win. The AI would all fail the jumps/trick turns and crash. It was the funniest thing to 9-y/o me. Glad to know that the game is unplayable and it wasn't just me.
So, after you build your track you have to do a verification lap on the game right? The devs of the game made it so that if you played a race on your custom track, the AI would follow every line of your verification lap, down to your crashes (if you had them). Funny af
I actually loved build and race as a kid. It was one of my favorites. I probably put hundreds of hours into the game. Not because it was a good game but only because it was one of the only racing games I had. Still because the nostalgia of it all it holds a special place in my heart
All I see is Dan Avidan, the far more composed of the Game Grumps, absolutely losing his sanity with how broken Action Girlz is. "SUNUVABITCH I can't get up those stairs at ALL!"
Oh! Another great suggestion is NFS hot pursuit on the Wii. 11 year old me genuinely believed that thethe Wii version would be identical to the X360 version. It was not
The first game I noticed in this intro hit me like a truck once I noticed the publisher. They’ve released other types of shovelware games on the PS2 I think. You should check those out when you can! I remember I had one game from that publisher when I was younger! DT Racer and DT Carnage! Feel free to check those out if you plan on looking at shovelware PS2 racing games! Continue the great videos btw!
I bought build and race through the scholastic catalogue in early 2011. I think that’s all you need to know about it. Thank you for giving me a twinge of nostalgia by reminding me of this lukewarm kiosk sandwich of a game.
I've played the PC version of "Maximum Racing: GP Classic Racing" where it was called Golden Age of Racing (also on PS2). And it's actually a great game. Don't know if handling was changed for Wii but crashes still look superior to those of Codemasters' F1 2010-2022.
I actually have Maximum Racing on Playstation 2. But its a different cover on the box, it’s actually the cars that you play on the cover. Remember loving it when i was a kid.
Both GP classic racing and Drag and Stock racing are PS2 games btw. They originally had different names too and we're both made by Midas entertainment, gp classic was golden age of racing and maximum racing drag and stock was race way: drag and stock racing. So those two were possibly plagiarised or even re-released under this company
loved the video better than the others racing youtubers videos for sure been waiting for a channel like this. you are the RealRadman replacement for me.
Build N' Race was interesting, I remember building tracks of my own and then purposely driving terribly when finalising the tracks so that I could clap the AI every time LOL
3:22 LMAO is that a Sea Ray sponsored Super PickUp, did the game devs just call anyone who put a engine into stuff and ask them for a sponsorship? I'd love to know who at Sea Ray approved on this sponsorship.
The makers of Build N' Race also made my least favourite game of all time: Chrysler Classic Racing. It's an absolute joke, and if you ever make a sequel to this video, please check it out.
I had another game of the caliber of these, but it actually felt fairly competent, it had a 1970's Toyota Celica.. Remember trading it in for a copy of Mario Galaxy, because I was getting to the point where the game got too difficult for me to play at 9-10 years old. Wonder what that game was called...
Sad to seen't Flatout here. That was a dumpster fire with the name of what was, at the time, a legend. Also, Crash Car Racer looks like Stock Car Crash on the PS2. Very similar, I thought at first glance it was a port for the Wii.
Yo I got a question, never played any Nascar game which one should I get? Nascar 5 or Ignition 21? I have Xbox Series X, is it okay to get Ignition 21 or is it still a broken thing?
GP Classic Racing is a directly copied and pasted port of "Golden Age of Racing" for PS2, published by a completely different studio! It wasn't good on that console either.
I'm more bothered by the fact that the German roads have the American "STOP" markings on them. (Unless of course they actually do that in Germany despite being a different language, in which case I'll eat my hat)
I remember having Build N Race, every time I went to build a track and went to test it I would softlock… “great game!”
I never really understood how to actually play it and remember thinking it sucked
V-rally could do it on the PS1, GRID could do it on the DS, so it wasn’t the hardware, it was just plain incompetence
I actually LOVED that game, building a track was my favorite thing to do!

Evolution GT was a really good game
If you're up for a sequel video, I'd be interested in seeing licenced shovelware racing games (things like Bigfoot Collision Course, Indianapolis 500 Legends, even M&M's Kart Racing).
AND excite Truck!
Hot Rod American Street Drag!
I bought Indy 500 Legends. Haven't played it yet.
hotwheels beat that or the cars games.
ford racing: off road.
You are quickly becoming my favorite racing /NASCAR game content guy on RUclips. I just love your sense of humor and the way you articulate is amazing. you put it just how i thought it lol, this humor is perfect for me and i can't help but love your delivery SS

I mean Ford Racing 2 isn’t bad for a cereal box game, in fact I’d say it’s a damn steal
In Portugal I think it was the Nestle cereal who had the games but they would come individually. 1 box = 1 game. They had Ford Racing 2 which was awesome, Crazy Taxi, Total Immersion Racing and Starsky and Hutch
I had super pickups as a kid on the PS2
Not the greatest
But honestly I had my fun with it
Definitely got Nascar catfished though
11:22.
"Perpendiculous" isn't technically a word, but if anyone can come up with a phrase that better describes some idiot being parked sideways on the road in a manner that will inevitably cause a crash, I'd like to hear it.

Easily one of the funniest videos I have seen in a while. Really, you should do more of these. Just your matter-of-fact nature, it's hilarious 😂
"A depressive version of Grand prix Legends", great quote!
For some unknown reason I'm starting to really appreciate Wii racing games like NFS ProStreet, TrackMania, GTI Club Supermini Festa! and even Cars...
Build N Race feels like a wannabe Trackmania with NOS and Collisions... That's probably why I liked it when I was little. Probably one of the reasons I got into Trackmania in the first place along side of Trackmania Wii. This was a fun video to watch! Thanks for the laughs
finally a new video, my favorite content creator at the moment. Love ya speedstation, review some more old nascar games just for the funny
One of the funniest videos I've seen in a while, this is some top tier content
I remember playing Golden Age of Racing or GP Classic Racing on the PS2 and thinking that the physics for a cheap nasty bargain bin game about single seater racing was pretty good. I mean there wasn't many other games at the time where you could climb over people in a crash like you'd see in real life. "A reverse hill climb, a hill fall." You can just say a Richard Hammond hill climb lol
I had Build 'n' Race as a little kid! My grandparents bought it for us because it has an award on the cover (can't remember what but it definitely wasn't reputable). @@testdrivefan1 oh yeah that's right!! I had some cross-sections in my tracks and I was always bummed that they always took the same line...
Your commentary is amazing. For $5 have a used Wii racing game on me.
Thank you so much!
the philips head screws are actually just black tape over the glass sealed beam headlights. a common thing in vintage racing.
2:09 made me laugh more than it should've.
Underrated yt channel right here. Great content man, keep it up
This is gold, why isn't there more views man. You just earned a sub.
2:06
Bro did not hold back
I actually loved build and race as a kid. It was one of my favorites. I probably put hundreds of hours into the game. Not because it was a good game but only because it was one of the only racing games I had. Still because the nostalgia of it all it holds a special place in my heart
You haven't seen the worst yet. Play Action Girlz Racing.
We don't say that name here...
It was not

Not only life goals, but you managed to beat Robby Lyons 23:04
the car throwing itself on the roof after hitting the kerb was spotless
Super Pickups is actually a modified version of Corvette Evolution GT.
That and that Suzuki TT motorcycle game and the Alfa Romeo one
I bought build and race through the scholastic catalogue in early 2011. I think that’s all you need to know about it. Thank you for giving me a twinge of nostalgia by reminding me of this lukewarm kiosk sandwich of a game.
Me: Mom can we have DTM?
Mom: No, we have DTM at home.
DTM at home: 1:03
Ah yes my favorite view in racers: Semi-Chase Up Above Too Close
This is hilarious! Love your commentary and edits, and would love to see you play more hot garbage like you've showcased today. Great video!
I've played the PC version of "Maximum Racing: GP Classic Racing" where it was called Golden Age of Racing (also on PS2). And it's actually a great game. Don't know if handling was changed for Wii but crashes still look superior to those of Codemasters' F1 2010-2022.
Probably better on the PS2 where you could actually have analog gas and brake functions.
GP Classic Racing was also on PS2 and I happen to have a copy, same with Dragon Stock Racer, and I believe there was other games made by this company
There’s an Indy 500 game for the Wii you should try, it’s actually not too terrible but it is a Wii racing game, worth checking out though!
Man, you’ve got a good channel going here! Keep it up!
I actually have Maximum Racing on Playstation 2. But its a different cover on the box, it’s actually the cars that you play on the cover. Remember loving it when i was a kid.
YOUR SO FUNNY I BEEN LAUGHING AT YOUR COMMENTARY ALL THE WAY THRU THE VIDEO
Both GP classic racing and Drag and Stock racing are PS2 games btw. They originally had different names too and we're both made by Midas entertainment, gp classic was golden age of racing and maximum racing drag and stock was race way: drag and stock racing. So those two were possibly plagiarised or even re-released under this company
Got a subscription out this. You're very funny and clever.
Several people were murdered in this video. Alot of people landed on their dome piece in open wheel cars lmfao
Emergency2 was a fun wii only racer
What I see now is that Super PickUps shared the same gameplay and some race tracks with (Corvette) Evolution GT due to the same developing team.
loved the video better than the others racing youtubers videos for sure been waiting for a channel like this. you are the RealRadman replacement for me.
2:10 earned you a subscriber, i grew up on wii shovelware lmao
I remember a dodge racing game for the Wii, I don’t remember much about it except having the worst controls imaginable
1:29 the nr2003 spotter I laughed so hard 😂😂
I got Build 'n' Race from my grandma but jeezus I can't remember it being THAT goofy
3:10 Even though this is a budget racer I was still happy to see a juicy dub
Build N' Race was interesting, I remember building tracks of my own and then purposely driving terribly when finalising the tracks so that I could clap the AI every time LOL
About the second game: I think they were trying to mimic Rumble Racing. But failed terribly.
I got some M&M racing game from my neighbor for my 10th birthday, I kinda remember it being a decent game all things considered.
The GoldenEye gag killed me 😂😂
An actually good game for the wii that I highly recommend is Excite Trucks. Literally the most insane, badass racing game I have ever played.
Build n race had a 1 in 4 chance of crashing when you finalize a track you built
Idk if it counts as shovel ware but the Wii game titles "Excite Truck" was my Jam back in the early 2010s. Would love to see you take a look at it
Definitely not shovelware, they made excitebots also on the wii
3:22 LMAO is that a Sea Ray sponsored Super PickUp, did the game devs just call anyone who put a engine into stuff and ask them for a sponsorship? I'd love to know who at Sea Ray approved on this sponsorship.
Good lord those tracks on the British game, Tilke wouldn't dare
I'm pretty sure Crash Car Racer was Stock Car Racer on the PS2 in PAL, I kinda had fun with it back in the day
and Drag and Stock Racer being Raceway Drag and Stock Racing. The PS2 had a whole lot of tut
You should try super karts its made by the same developers of gp classic racing and to be honest its atcually pretty good
Jarrett and labonte stock car racing was my first tricked into playing a game.
still fun though but at least I was able to play toca as a kid
I loved Build N Race
the Nintendo Switch has tons of shovelware too, but it's mostly on the Eshop.
12:20 u flip the car with the left front wheel and roll on the right . That was to funny
The makers of Build N' Race also made my least favourite game of all time: Chrysler Classic Racing. It's an absolute joke, and if you ever make a sequel to this video, please check it out.
This is hilarious because when i was bringing my wii to college a year or two ago my dad bought me build n race
the cover for the PS2 version of super pickups is even more misleading, since it's literally a flipped image of trucks at martinsville.
I know f1 09 (official licenced by the FIA) was released by codemasters on the wii but it was so poor it could have been classed as shovelwear
This needs to be tossed into the speed run universe, it already is I bet.
I love old janky games, sometimes you find a hilarious good time that wasnt meant to be.
I enjoyed this a lot
Sad to seen't Flatout here. That was a dumpster fire with the name of what was, at the time, a legend.
Also, Crash Car Racer looks like Stock Car Crash on the PS2. Very similar, I thought at first glance it was a port for the Wii.
Crazy that the last 3 games were made by the same people that made Indycar Series. How does this even happen?
Yo I got a question, never played any Nascar game which one should I get? Nascar 5 or Ignition 21? I have Xbox Series X, is it okay to get Ignition 21 or is it still a broken thing?
NASCAR 21 Ignition is still really broken. Heat 5 is actually better.
I bought an Xbox 360 for racing games. I picked the wrong console.
GP Classic Racing is a directly copied and pasted port of "Golden Age of Racing" for PS2, published by a completely different studio! It wasn't good on that console either.
A game i loved from the wii would be Indy 500 Legends
Take Indy 500 evolution and its just focused on the 500
For shovelware... these games' got a nice damage engine.
No bad game can come close to the crap factor of a bad Wii game.
21:09 l0l i had this game on the ps2
When are we getting a new video!?
Fairly soon, I'm working on the 2,000 subscriber special at the moment.
YO I ACTUALLY HAD CRASH CAR RACER ME AND MY BROTHER PUT LIKE 200 HOURS INTO THAT GAME JUST MESSING AROUND OH MY GOD THIS IS A BRAIN BLAST
Great video!
All of these games somehow have better physics than nascar ignition
Second race looked like big rigs
Rush Rally is a blast
British racing game actually reminds me of some old ps1 racer.
Gas station / pharmacy gaming !
I'm more bothered by the fact that the German roads have the American "STOP" markings on them.
(Unless of course they actually do that in Germany despite being a different language, in which case I'll eat my hat)
Heh Super PickUps uses the engine from S.C.A.R.: Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo and Evolution GT games
god i played the hell out of Build N Race lol
I love you vin ❤️
LOL
These games reflect the overall quality of wii games to me, i had a hard drive full of 500 wii games and 5 were fun :D
That super pickups game stole some assets from Evolution Gt
