For a door that opens outward, how high over the door should the bracket be mounted?

Are the mounting bar and lock castings screwed directly on (over) the vinyl siding? Shouldn't the siding be removed first?

mounting bracket 3 inches above door? what you did is more like 12 inches give or take

The 1100 Series (includes only support arms) requires 3" of mounting space over the door, whereas the 1500 series (with sides) requires 12 or more over the door.
