An LZ0 diesel truck is so far superior to any EV truck on the market. Range, durability, payload, towing, extreme cold and hot weather, etc. Diesel is artificially inflated in price solely out of politics, (because everything we consume is transported by diesel,) it's otherwise the first crude out of a barrel of oil. EV's give people who don't know and who don't want to know much of anything about internal combustion motors and vehicles in general, a reason to get excited. EV's are not the answer, they are carbon neutral, and they are not saving the planet.
The uniparty globalists are the ones pushing EV's, primarily here and in Europe. VW TDI's had to go first before they could push EV's any further than they did, so they concocted the silly notion that VW was programming their ECM's to pass the test on the bench. Imagine that, go figure?! You rev the motor higher, you emit more exhaust?!

Well done GM for being the last to still offer the diesel in the 1/2 ton segement, and yes GM's SuperCruise system is by far the best semiautonomous hands-free driving technology in the automotive industry currently.

There is an interesting article from JB Powers on the added cost of the EV vs gas vehicle (i.e. maintenance and operating costs. Basically, it said the gap was within a few thousand at the higher models, but at the economy level, it was 10k+ depending on what vehicle you own, meaning the EV would cost more to operate. The big debate is environmental impact. And currently from what I can tell there is no drastic difference. Keep in mind you have to factor in the pollution from mining, producing, charging, and maintaining the battery. This will get better over time, but the big push to change right now is a little premature.

I have same duramax LZ0 and I get 37 MPG on highway at 70 or 75 MPH and turning off traction control I got around 6.4 seconds 0 to 60

Wow I appreciate this comparison. Not enough savings or range. Plus the added extra spending on impulse eating or shopping while you wait to charge 😂 Thank you!

My neighbor has a ford lightening. He said ford has a contract with Duke Energy and he pays a flat rate of $20 a month to charge his truck. I’m not sure if that’s a Duke Energy only thing.

The worst thing about lightning is the way it was marketed. It was sold as the replacement for the gas truck.
Instead its like a 50s v8 muscle car. These ev are the factory muscle car of today. Like those v8 car from the 60s, you are not buying for range.
The lightning's huge advantage is its on a proven platform. Ford set a high benchmark for its first gen ev.
I have been driving it for 8 months and it still very fun.

I wonder what it cost per mile to run electric vs a diesel. Eventually the government would have to put a road tax on electricity if they haven’t done so already

    • @LakeLake123
      @LakeLake123 11 месяцев назад

That’s the thing. If you run to 200,000 miles and can charge off-peak overnight. The EV will likely save you at least $30k in “fuel” and maintenance.

@@LakeLake123The diesel truck would still be good for another 200k miles, but the ev may need a $30k replacement battery.

You do realize that very few use DC fast chargers unless they're traveling long distances? The vast majority charge at home for a third to a fifth of the cost of gasoline or diesel for equivalent mileage. You were being very fair up to that point but that is grossly misleading.

Run the same test and parameters while towing a 6k pound trailer, and let’s see those numbers change

When you have to force people to buy something, it’s shit. Give people a tax break on ice vehicles and see which they choose 😂.

No matter what they do to EV trucks, you will never get the towing capacity that you would get with a diesel truck or a gas truck. The more🤨 weight you add to a EV truck the less mileage you're going to get and that's just the way it works simple math if you're out somewhere and your battery dies on you. You have a problem. Also EV mechanics are the only ones that can work on them.😩 PS I've own a EV car. They're nice for the city, but not great. On the highway . There is not a lot of EV chargers when you get out on the highway.

Nice video. The EV trucks just make zero sense. You couldn’t depend on them for being a primary vehicle and they are not remotely feasible to use for towing.
Last weekend I had a racing trip that ended up being 238.6 miles. That just wouldn’t be possible with an EV truck. So I don’t see the point and I really don’t even know who wants them lol. And then add in their price and wow! Pay a huge premium to have a part time vehicle. Pretty dumb.

It's about saving the planet, not cost or convenience. Never mind you get to the only charging station within a 100 miles in rural areas and a mob of gangsters are lying in wait.

Its not the EV....the infrastructure, capability and constant worry of where your gonna charge it is the problem......its not even close yet
Time at charging stations, looking and hoping they work and not miles out of the way, spending 2hrs waiting to go few hundred more befire repeating that same process, retrofitting your house and you need a house.....
What a PITA.....not to mention extra cost and still no one really knows longevity cuz they just came out....batteries are expensive af....
They arent there yet and agreed, EV isnt the future.....
    Small compact commuter car, sure
Seriously doubt ill ever be in one b4 i check out

I’m willing to bet that if you throw a boat trailer and boat behind that electric vehicle that Ford pick up electric pick up, you’ll be looking for a charging station in about 85 to 90 miles it won’t go past 100 miles before it’s completely dead dead on the road Out of power as for the Diesel Chevrolet pick up tone the same trailer boat assembly you’re probably 200 miles if not 250 miles big difference I’ll take your diesel pick up any day of the week better yet I’ll stick to my 1997 Chevrolet diesel pick up my 1 ton diesel pick upmight be old but it’s easy to work on when it needs to be worked on and far between don’t care for electric vehicles. They catch fire too easily. I’ve seen them burn up even while charging burning houses down as well. Don’t need them.

I'd rather have my hybrid F150 don't have the high price of diesel or high service cost. I get 20 to 23 on the road and 21 to 26 in town.🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲🫡
