You're correct. I think the smartest way to go is to spread out your investments. By putting your money into different asset classes like bonds, real estate, and stocks from other countries, you can lower the risk if one part of the market goes bad.

Interesting analysis and very useful for retail investors, both new and seasoned. It was surprising to note that MO scheme with a concentrated portfolio was doing better than its peers. This definitely speaks volume about the fund managers stock pick and his entry exit strategy. From the analysis presented in this video, I would place my bet on the MO Large & Midcap scheme and revisit the analysis same time next year. Keep up the good work. Best wishes. Somanth

Regarding ET Money Genius - Is rebalancing a portfolio on a monthly basis truly beneficial? I'm particularly curious about their strategy, which suggests investing solely in index funds across large, mid, and small caps. While I agree that index funds are great for large caps, is the same true for mid or small caps, compared to actively managed funds in those categories? I'm aiming to invest in a goal-based manner, so as I get closer to my goal, I want to ensure my allocations shift toward more stable assets.

The trouble with all such data analysis is that there is no fund which performs very high in all time periods and it is always cyclical. Assuming you buy Motilal Oswal you will end up buying at a high nav based on recent performance and you are most likely to see diminished returns in the next 3 to 5 years. So stick to one of the better funds identified over a longer time horizon based on risk and return profile and do not jump ship just because it has not performed well in the shorter time period (< 3Y). I hold Quant L&MC fund and though it is not performing as well as the top funds in category, it will turn around and I am willing to wait.

They have their own random filters to remove filters every time and then compare the remaining ones. Even if the comparison looks ok, the first part of the video itself goes wrong many times with ET money.

At the outset, I love the analysis ETMoney team gives in these videos. However, in this video I don't understand the criteria of selection of these 3 funds. Firstly, what's the merit of selecting the funds with highest AUM growth, and that too in just last 1 year? Secondly, the 4000 Cr AUM filtration seems also suspicious, as Motilal Oswal has about 4900 Cr. It appears that MO fund needed to be picked for analysis, even though it's less than 5 years old. Hence, we can't adequately and comprehensively judge it's performance for the pre-Covid phase i.e. before this liquidity induced bull-run, which seems to be at it's peak.
