- [Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for the For All Mankind Season 4 finale.]
Creators Ronald Moore, Ben Nedivi, and Matt Wolpert brought their acclaimed Apple TV+ series, For All Mankind to its Season 4 conclusion with the thrilling Episode 10, "Perestroika." Before the finale aired, Collider's Steve Weintraub hosted an early screening where fans got to see Happy Valley's rogue techs harness Goldilocks and ensure the Mars colony a thriving future, all on the big screen. Following the sneak-peek jump to 2012, Moore, Nedivi, Wolpert, executive producer Maril Davis, and stars Joel Kinnaman, Krys Marshall, and Wrenn Schmidt joined the stage for an exclusive Q&A.
During this spoiler-filled Q&A, the cast and creatives talk about the behind-the-scenes of their alternate history timeline and progressing into more science fiction this season. Moore, Nedivi, and Wolpert talk about those we lost along the way, changing the course of their For All Mankind road map, those we almost lost in the writers' room, and maintaining the show's grounded nature as they venture further into the unknown. They also break down that final shot as we jump ahead on the timeline. Stars Kinnaman, Marshall, and Schmidt discuss the challenges faced in these roles, especially throughout Season 4, the struggle with their characters' choices (earning the writers a strongly worded email from Marshall's on Danielle's behalf), whether we'll ever see aliens or starships, what Star Trek series exist in the alternate timeline, and tons more.

Hi Bob
Wren Schmidt nailed the physical movements of the older Margo.
Indeed LOL she must be close to her grandma 😂
Joel's Swedish is showing.. lol he sounds so different than in the show. That man is charmed for sure. WTG
Krys is THE loveliest omg😍such eloquent and empathic answers, too. And-- "I think you need to continue to take jobs that scare you this much" !!! T H I S!! It makes sense for Wrenn to feel terrified before and during the shoots, and have the occasional self-doubt creep in because her task in s4 was HUGE. But at the same time it's wild hearing her talk about it because it never ever shows on screen, not once. She was incredible this season.
Wrenn was phenomenal this season, Margo is my favorite character by far!
True. All the female characters are written in a way i want to see women in tv-shows/movies. As equals, neither eye-candy, plot devices nor overbearing smart-a$$es. Love it.
@@peterpain6625 marvel character writing has wreaked havoc in the industry with every single character having the same quippy smart-ass personality... Im glad the writers in FAM are more competent than that.
@@RetoskiCat The MCU overdid it for sure. With content and also with "everybody is the same". The saturation with MCU-Everything is far worse though. I'm fine with edgy, flamboyant or agressively "non-cis" characters AS LONG as they fit into a decent story but making that MCU-stuff basically inescapeable is kinda vexing.
So was danielle
@@peterpain6625tbh its rly well written for the female leads
By far the most rewarding and enjoyable experience in series nowadays. Every season rised the bar to the next one. Can’t believe looking back how much i love this show. Cast, acting, special effects, drama, politics, the complexity of human behaviors and of course the science ❤️ You made us care about every character in every episode. Kudos for all of you from a truly fan from Peru 🇵🇪
may I sign this?
Wrenn is adorable 💚🇬🇧🌱 she knocked it out the park in season four...
Strongest and most interesting character on the show
@@DisappearingBoy2010 agree
Absolutely love this show. I absolutely love space exploration stuff. Think Wrenn Schmidt did an absolutely phenomenal job with Margo’s character. Brilliant.
Well after season 4, I'd forgotten how handsome Joel is when being his own age.
Danni (next to Molly Cobb) would have to be my favourite character.
Wren Schmidt deserves multiple awards for her performance!
Ronald D. Moore - should be in charge of the flailing, failing and under-performing Star Trek franchise (pls God, I'd a happy man!)
BRILLIANT SERIES - amazing creatives and stunning cast.
It's unfortunate that your network is among the limited major news outlets covering this show. I look forward to seeing your continued coverage, especially for when and if Season 5 is released and many more seasons!
Who killed Sergei? If we assume KGB, that was a massive miscalculation on their part. Once Sergei was out, the person for whom Margo effectively sacrificed her career and, really, life, there was no way for her to come back to USSR. So maybe it was CIA, after all? To ensure Margo stays in the USA, stops aiding the Soviets to undermine their program. I wonder if we'll ever get an answer.
I think it was implied it *might* actually have been the CIA when Margot looked at Eli during her emotional outburst after she heard Sergei was killed, and completely fell silent. Almost as if she realised it might not have been Irena after all. I really hope we get an answer to this next season
@@thespacepeacock The more I think about it, the more CIA makes sense. They certainly had constant tabs on him, after all they most likely played a part in setting him up in the USA to begin with.
If it was KGB, it was a moronic move, based on completely miss profiling Margo. Sergei and his safety was the only thing even remotely tying Margo to the Soviets.
Of course it was the KGB and of course it was Irina. They would do it out of revenge and to set an "example" of what would happen when you desert the Soviet Union.
@@mariaayala9415 Then they are dumb! The only reason that Margo defected was because she wanted to keep Sergei safe. Once he was out of the picture, what was there to stop Margo from telling everything to the Americans, reveal the circumstances of her defection and add some juicy insider knowledge of the Rosscosmos and the Star City? CIA stands to gain much more from removing Sergei than KGB.
@@thespacepeacock yeah I also though Eli looked guilty af in that shot, he's been giving me the vibes of being a selfish coward all season.
S4 ending makes me at the same time smile widely and also feel a little melancholic that we are not there yet and probably won't be within my lifetime.. I so often catch myself thinking that I would love to be living in that timeline instead of ours..!
Wren Schmidt calling out the VFX team. Thanks Wren 😍
Fantastic interview! I couldn’t love this show more and I think it will build a wider audience over time…I preach it to everyone I know. It deserves more seasons.
Makes alot of sense for this to lead directly into the events from The Expanse. They colonized Mars and then captured the first asteroid, basically creating the start of the MCR and Belters.
amazing show probably the best on AppleTV
Let's make it clear. For All Mankind doesn't lead into Star Trek. The 4th season made it abundantly clear that For All Mankind is a prequel for The Expanse.
right... star trek is literally a show in the show. that's so dumb
i thought thats what he was gonna say when he started asking that question, but maybe he didnt wanna give a mention to a show on a competing network
You're right, and Ed and Dez are the first permanent citizens of Mars, with maybe Kelly and her son joining them soon after.
@@ttomkatt1 I think the Baldwins will stay, it was mentioned repeatedly that Alex is better suited to living on Mars than on Earth. And there are also all the significant others that Miles managed to smuggle to Mars, I'm pretty sure they don't go anywhere either.
Don't you ever say that in the FAM reddit
Living on Mars, mining asteroids for Earth! Forget Star Trek. This show is obviously a prequel to _THE EXPANSE_
That's a popular fan theory and also my personal head cannon :)
Hope we get some Season 5 news soon!
Ah, I loved this interview! What a brilliant and inspiring group of creators! ❤
Season 4 ending shot is epic art, I watch it daily for enjoyment.
Love this show so much. Hope we get to see season 7!
The best show on TV hands down. Always a joy to watch the show.
21:51 ... Season 2 Finale was intense ... I watched it on my phone and I was seriously absorbed to the screen and man it was intense.
And in the end the boots on the Mars scene was something that kept you wondering, Is it Soviets or Americans .... You kept on wondering, what's coming next.
I would say better than season 4 finale for me.
to be fair, it'll be extremely difficult to beat season 2's finale. And if you were like me, you binged the show the first time (just now) and saw the season 2 finale and season 3's opening episode (the space hotel) back to back. Both were freakin master classes of cinematic television.
Hi Bob.

Thanks a ton for the interview! Love this show
Have to comment that it was a surprise them so youthful again, their acting and makeup was so effective
It’s a prequel to The Expanse
My thoughts exactly : D
I love Krys/Daniiii 🫶🏾
Great interview! Put a huge smile on my face!
The show is a real gem, thank you for this great interview.
I think they're great. Season 5 confirmation please.
By far one of my favs
GREATEST SHOW ON TV!!!
It's such a relief to see them looking young and healthy!
25:26 - Does anyone know to what they are referring in the final shot? I have it on pause. I see the crane (just to the right of the center of the screen) and its carrying a square container--no easter egg there. I do see a few astronauts just down from the center of the screen )off one of the pipelines) hovering--that just seems like a normal thing. Right above the astronauts, there is some sort of logo on the silo-type building but it's hard to make out what it is. Outside of those possibilities, I have no idea what they are talking about unless they are just messing with us. But the host legitimately fan-boyed on it, so I assume there's something.
Are we talking about "FREE MARS" here? Can someone confirm the easter egg on the asteroid please?
Beltalowda!
How do people hear about the opportunity to attend these Q&As in the audience?
Read Collider. We announce our events in the featured section at the top of the website for at least 24 hours, so if you check the site once a day you will always know what we are doing.
@@ColliderInterviews awesome thanks
I love this show just like Stargate. Was based in current day and the actual science, for the most part, held up and thats what makes to whole thing more grounded and believable
Good shows never last long I would have like to see another 10 episodes
Joel Kinnaman should go to NASA with his Ed Baldwin suit and walk around lol
Let make this clear: Ed Baldwin is the GOAT!
Joel kept fidgeting with his mic.. making extra unnecessary noise. lol his pants remind me of the 70's anything goes jeans. lol
this channel is always awesome
Wrenn is great! I love her. Krys is too! I do love the show for the most part although there are many things I don't like about it. The good outweighed the bad. The ending of season 4 was pretty great although feels like it was missing something. what a group of actors on the show!
Its funny how all 3 act like their characters irl 😂❤
I love this show & these characters so much. ❤
absolute kino!
it is a real hard science fiction not blended with bullshit phantasy and lightsabers.
I am waiting for Season 5 of FAM, and GTA6 which will we get first?
Can we please get blu rays?
All 3 Awesome
It's so good.
It’s the prequel to the expanse
TBH, 4 seasons and so many decades later, I still prefer the OG cast!
Amazing show, incredible finale and spectacular panel.
It’s funny how fidgety Joel is.
Wow
Krys is so beautiful and sweet.
Free Mars was a Babylon 5 thing too.
Joel is the best.
Hey Bob
FREE MARS!!
For all mankind is the prequel to the Orville😅
i like how he introduce Joel as if he’s just an up and coming actor.
Can we stop bringing up starships? Just watch star trek. Jeez.
Why does Joel Kinnaman speak in accent here 😭? Can he squeeze it out or were there audio mixing things or so?
He's Swedish
@@na8571that wasn’t the question.
Not really sure what you mean by “can he squeeze it out”
Really interesting and good TV show with minus all the WOKE garbage 😐👎
What’s woke?
@@TheBroz If I had to guess, probably that Ellen Wilson was gay. Some shows are so heavy-handed to be fair, that we've reached a point where the mere presence of a gay or black character is enough for some people to call a show "woke" even if it isn't. Sad, but there you go..
The Expanse is great but GARBAGE compared.....wish I had watched it first....Pissed.
True title 'For all WOMANkind' the most man-hating TV series there has ever been !
