In this video we are going to show you how to make leather drawer pulls!
If you have an old worn leather belt that is not used anymore. Do not throw it away! It can be used for other things and we will show one example in this clip, when it can be used for DIY leather drawer pulls.
We got hold of old leather straps from a horse saddle that we used for another project. The leather straps were a bit worn and dusty, but could be refurbished and made them look good again. The leather straps we have are old and solid, but it is just as easy to use a leather belt.
The leather belt was cut into pieces to be used as a handle on a wooden sofa. A material as nice as these leather straps not only provides a functional function to the sofa. They also become a decoration that gives an even more rustic expression on the sofa/bench.
We started by looking over the leather and seeing where it looked good and cut off the pieces that could not be used. Then we measured into 17 cm long pieces that we cut with a sharp knife.
The leather straps were held in place against the drawers of the sofa and we marked where they would sit. Then they were nailed in place with black furniture nails on each side. We chose a nice nail skull because it is so visible and forms part of the design.
