I like how you reference Labyrinth Warriors, the best event in the game’s history… that should have been the permanent endgame, whereas this feels no different than any one week combat event… agreed on the difficulty curve not working for the variety of AR’s attempting this

My issue is the character restrictions. There are situations where I no longer have a DPS, too many DPS, no support or too many supports on the field. I never felt like I had a balance. Then there was that thing where they force you to have 4 characters on the field. What if I see that it's my last turn to use one character, and I wanted to keep them for later, but I have no one else to use instead of them? Welp, I can kiss them goodbye.
There is also the fact that which favorite characters we wish for and get constellations are the ones we want to use everywhere. None of my favorite characters that I have are available to me currently. Even if they were, I would have no guarantee to play them. I felt frustrated seeing that.

Absolutely! I feel like this game mode was one that was made from someone in marketing rather than their combat designers since it really feels off in terms of balance. I know Hoyo does extensive playtesting, but this is ridiculous to have had this mode pass. I think what happens is that the devs and testers all have access to "good accounts" (you can see my Hi3 beta vids, we have access to a lot of characters) and it divorces them from the reality of the people actually playing the game

The only thing didn't liked about it was getting the characters so randomly, i can take the fact of having them very restrictive to use but not allowing the players to pick characters it's quite annoying, on my case i had to re do some acts due to lack of characters needed for specific acts, also by see'ing your video i noticed something, act 7 it's different from what i got, you got multiwave enemies while on my case was 2 flying dragons and 2 flying robots (i don't remember their names atm but i'm sure you probably know which ones i'm talking about, they used to be on Liyue).

Yeah, it would be good to play off meta teams but that’s not what occurs… you have to play scuffed teams with no synergies and it’s not fun …

@@deathmetalalchemist5861 that's part of "prepare an strategy".

one thing is that for a rouge like game mode is that the buffs gained aren't that fun to use or interesting and just x stat buff or do x condition and deal true damage in an aoe, this problem isn't helped as mihoyo has reused these buffs for many of the combat events for what feels like the past two years. and the x condition buffs are usually fine for the events as you can keep using the characters you have but being limited to 2 uses makes picking those buffs very unappealing especially early on and pigeon hold you into building around it which is fine except for the limited control over your roster (I feel a change to three charges per character would mitigate this complaint a good amount). its just buffs like faster charge attacks, faster movement speed, uncapped attack speed, less stamina consumption, cooldown reductions are severely underutilized fun buffs.

maybe a buff that could be added to alleviate the elemental restriction is adding an elemental companion similar to a samachurl or slime that applies an element to enable reactions, as it currently feels like just playing mediocre mono teams.

I remember the first 2 laps I did of that: first was in easy. Done in like 4 minutes. Then did it on hard. Done in like 3, cause the game said "FU, not gonna give you a character unless you spend the coins-thingy" Which made me wonder: Why then choose like 15 characters if I'm gonna use only like 6 or seven? Just like, again, the spyral abyss.
I'd rather reduce the number of characters forced to half (maybe 10 at most?). Remove F-ing randomness.
And not make it specifically element restricted, but rather reaction/goal restricted. This way, you can change the "Do 8 battles as always" into "Do a certain amount of X reaction using said elements" and then those ones give the rewards. Why? Because newer players are learning the core mechanic of the game, while old get to experience newer characters without spending. Thus making your mind to "this character is a must in my account" or "ZZZkip, let's wait for a rerun or something".
Cause let's be real: the "challenges" are only meant for when you play in hard, and mostly to get random characters which will sit half of the time in the team doing nothing, wasting the 2 chances they have to do something, just so you can get 4 more wishes...
And the most important: for low rank players, loan a character, like the trials, but have it decently strong.
Hey, I'd rather take it as a battle per turns for a change. All FF style. (Even HSR I think has that combat style?)

They can do all the changes we demand and want. But remember: MHY only cares about the people that invest in the game, other than the CCs, newer players are basically forced, because: "Look! That CC cleared the whole thing in like 5 minutes! I need those characters as well!!"
And this is basically another way to get them to roll for more characters and weapons...

Definitely lots that need improvement on this mode and it is frustrating that players are basically baited into getting more units, but by the time those are ready then a new season starts xD. Hoyo really flopped on this mode xD.
I think something like the Elysian Realm could also resolve the issues and incorporate some of your suggestions. It gives a difficulty scaling that can be appropriate for accounts at all ranges.

The game mode feels weird to me. It feels like a limited time combat event that's been made permanent.
