You know I am without a vehicle for the first time in my life. Sometimes have something just OK is WAY better than nothing to eat. Thank you for these tasty ideas. I especially love spring rolls.
Thank you so much! We've been in those rough financial situations, and my goal is to show how you can still eat fairly well even with dollar store food. =)
When I was growing up,my mom always made an amazing tuna noodle cassarole...when I was a single mom I relied heavily on the food pantry for our food...often the staples included, government butter, boxed macaroni and cheese, canned tuna and canned peas...I put them all together in the pan and hoped for the best as I had never made mac and cheese in that way before. I figured that it couldn't taste that much different than my moms tuna casserole. My kids loved it surprisingly and to this day...my grown son still asks me to make it on occasion😊😊😊
Try adding diced fresh tomatoes to the Mac/cheese and tuna mixture. They bring a fresh flavor and texture that goes well with the creaminess of the other ingredients.
I love your honesty and also the fact that not everyone can do $100++ meal hauls and you don’t see anything wrong with that which for this single mom is great, so 😊
I love how honest you are. You are very aware that it's just doing the best you can on a budget at the dollar store. I think you have done great making the meals as healthy as possible. My dollar store just got a frozen food section so trying to figure out reasonably healthy meals
I think it is great you are showing people that this can be done. These are hard times and people need to stretch their $. Reasonable food is much better than none.
Thankyou so so much for all your recipes! My family loves my cooking more than ever!! You saved my life I ran out of food to buy as our Supermarket has gone up so much in price! You saved the day by day! Thankyou ! You are a Godsent!
Wow. Just found this video and I love how you put things together with the food you purchased from DT. You're amazing and a life saver. I need simple and inexpensive meals. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi I live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and this is today is Wednesday I mean I'm sorry Thursday the 21st and I sit in there scrolling through RUclips and I watched five of your videos today I appreciate you explaining everything breaking down with the Dollar Tree calories healthy issues considering you know you can still eat from the dollar store concerning it's not going to be healthy but you can't get some sort of healthy things there I thank you very much for what you are doing as far as explaining in your videos and your little girl is adorable but I thank you for what you're doing I appreciate it I'll be watching more often thank you
Wait, whoa....what an awesome idea for dumplings!! Do you know just throw them in at the end like your standard dumplings or so you pan fry them a bit before?
If you do spring rolls again try the air fryer. I spray just a little and they are so good. Dollar Tree spring rolls are very good but don’t like the broccoli. Love the yellow rice. Thank you great job.
The pretzels are always sold out at the Dollar Tree I work at. I think there is a Sports Bar that buys a case or two at a time. 😄. Love the Spring Rolls. I have taken the Garlic Bread to my brother's house for spaghetti night you really can't tell its only a dollar. Good stuff.
The spring rolls are by far my favorite from DT. I haven't found them in over a year in our stores. Okra is a Southern dish that tastes best battered in cornmeal and fried until golden brown. That seems to help with the sliminess. I'm impressed with your creations. They give me ideas for some foods I already have on hand. I'm looking forward to finishing your video collection. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Okra should be made with a fish/tomato spicy stew. Try with crushed tomatoes, tuna, sausage, okra, cajun spice if they have, red pepper and onion, garlic, over white rice. Also, their broccoli is good, I think it's just your store.
My husband is from New Jersey and has missed fresh soft pretzels. We were ordering them from a company in Philly until we got a dollar tree here in town. I bought some and he was a happy camper. Especially when he found out the difference in cost from ordering them and getting at dt. 😆
I make fettuccine with shrimp from there for 2 dollars a person and also shrimp fried rice I make smoothies with their frozen fruit almost every days cuz I can make 3 or 4 smoothies out of one bag of fruit.i bought most of my holiday feast there except the turkey or ham and the cream cheese for the cheesecake
I have learned that if you ever buy frozen broccoli, make sure it’s the broccoli florets. The frozen broccoli you had was mostly the stems and that’s why they taste bad. Even at other stores, I always make sure it’s broccoli florets. I enjoy your videos! You are doing an awesome job!! 😊
I never eat frozen broccoli as a side. I mix it in with something. As someone else commented, you could do fried rice with spring rolls. You can make your own fried rice.
I am going to make the tamales tonight. I have everything but the okra. I might add in the hunts fireroasted tomatoes I picked up from dollar tree last week. Thank you for the new recipes. We love all of your videos
the large pretzels are very good...you need to wipe each frozen pretzel with a small amount of water before baking, the salt will then stick to the pretzel (otherwise, the salt comes off before baking)...dts
Ok it’s official! I’m totally convinced you’re a magician and I am now addicted to your channel. It’s such fun to watch and admire your creativity! I’m trying dollar tree dinner shopping for sure now. In fact, this just might be my new meal plan strategy for 2021!!! TFS. 👏
Wow! I’ve never heard of canned tamales or yellow rice - looked so pretty! I could see why you had to supplement the gnocchi - were there like 10 in a bag?? Lol and omg that mac n cheese tuna casserole looked AmaZing! Thank you! 👍🏻😎
Put in a bit of olive oil and salt when cooking your rice. This rice flavor comes from the cuisine of Spain. Sometimes DT has roasted red peppers, that is a good addition to some foods. The cans of veggies are really good such as sweet corn from Green Giant and the canned green beans.
Someone i know, showed me how to cook the rice, couscous and quinoa, well you toast you grains of rice, couscous and quinoa in a dry pan, no oil, just roast it for a few minutes and put it in you pan and use COLD water or broth and cook it as usual. I do that with my basmati rice and it's really good. It's not sticky at all. I always do that now and i use those old cast irons pans to roast my rice and then transfer it a small pan with my water or broth.
If you cook the frozen vegetables in vegetable broth it really ups the flavor. They have it at DT usually with the soups. I love your videos and share them with my daughter. ✨⭐️✨
I am new sub as of today so I haven't watched all your videos yet. You can make red beans rice with sausage and jambalaya too using all Dollar Tree products.
My personal tip: when using canned tomato sauce, simmer it for as much time as you can afford to get rid of the tin-taste. The longer, the better. I prefer the unflavored versions, but that's just me being a control freak lol. And the only way I eat my pasta is swimming in "too much" sauce lol
Love your dollar tree meals! Going to make the mac n cheese one and pretzels tonight. Only thing i don't have is the can tuna. Do you think can chicken would work instead?
U could have air fried ur okra in the air fryer and then y'all would have loved them . I grew up eating okra my entire life and just love it .I like it in Jambalaya the best tho ...Yum
Nice!! I found your channel yesterday and it inspired me to think of some other options. What do you think?? 💕 Ideas: Fried rice: Rice Soy sauce Eggs Peas & carrots mix Shrimp Chili: Rice* Chili (2 cans) Black beans Corn bread mix (use eggs from other meal if needed) *if you already have the rice from another meal you can buy cheese to put on top! Chicken Soup: Can chicken Rice or egg noodles Broth or bullion Veggies Saltine crackers Chicken broccoli Alfredo: Pasta Can chicken Alfredo sauce (maybe get 2) Broccoli Pizza: Pack of tortillas Pizza sauce Cheese Pepperoni Veggie side - broccoli Or Tortillas BBQ sauce Can chicken Cheddar ch Veggie side Or Tortilla Sauce Cheese Veggie mix - peppers & onions Olives Or Tortillas Can chicken Alfredo sauce Broccoli Cheese Swap for whatever you want.. Soup and grilled cheese sandwich 2 cans of soup - your choice Loaf of bread Cheese Choice of can fruit (pineapple or peaches)
Oh my gosh, I love these!! Thank you so much! I haven't done a video in awhile due to the pandemic, but you've inspired me to go out and search for meals! =)
Like ur food menu creative & got real protein..reminded me of my uni years living oversea in a dorm. Lucky that a dollar store there have more interesting good stuff. Here in my hometown its way cheaper to buy fresh stuff at farmer mkt. Made own dumpling & spring roll
The other night I made cheesy. Alfredo pasta with Italian meatballs and peas...I wanted bread to go with the meal but I didn't care for the choices of bread at the time so I chose everything bagels and spreadable cream cheese. Ingredient List: (#1.)1 bag of egg noodles( haven't seen egg noodles at Dollar Tree before but they had them this time) (#2) 2 bags of Italian meatballs( green bags)one bag could have been enough (#3) Mozzarella cheese brick (#4)can of Green Giant peas (#5)2 cans of Prego Alfredo sauce...although 1 may have been enough ... PREPARATION: 1.Boil egg noodles, drain and add butter or margarine 2. Add in pan ( I used an electric skillet for this meal)with noodles, meatballs, Alfredo sauce, peas and grated cheese 3. Mix well and heat 4. Put cream cheese on bagel YUMMY...YUMMY!! Made 2 meals for 2 people😊😊😊All ingredients were found at Dollar Tree. My grown son and I are trying to be frugal si we can save money to rent a house...try this dish...you'll like it...although my son didn't like the meatballs...I enjoyed them...they kind of taste like Italian sausage in my opinion
You could also do the spring rolls in an air fryer they come out really crispy as well and I would so totally try the mac and cheese with the peas and carrots and tuna fish my son wouldn't like it cuz he's an extremely picky eater
The black beans u pored in the pot look like red beans lol Other than that...i love ur dollar tree series! I wanna try all the different meals..thanks for the inspiration!!
I would’ve done the spring rolls with some Ramen but some vegetables added to it and you can also make a really good tamale pie by layering those tamales with some chili and the beans and some cheese or some salsa on top I appreciate all your efforts I just feel like these meals were a little bit random and a little bit starchy. I mean gnocchi with a rose on the side and it does seem just a little bit odd ball
Hi there, I encourage you to check out my other Dollar Tree meal videos. =) This is one of my first ones and I was still getting the hang of things. My more recent videos are a bit more appetizing!
Unfortunately, there is no Dollar Tree where i live in Canada. We have Dollarama. It's similar. There's no dairy products or frozen foods like those Dollar Tree. They have Silk soy Milk. I like Soy Milk. Those veggie meatballs looked good.
I like your comments about Dollar Trees frozen veggies. Canned ones better huh? I use the canned potatoes corn and carrots with chicken and cream of chicken soup plus spices into Jenny Can Cook pie crusts which you can roll or pat. Check her out. You stated you haven’t tried pie crust yet. You’re ambitious enough gf! Good luck. Ps. Loved the lipstick over holidays.
I still buy the egg rolls and fry them for my autistic son and it is awesome! Also if you buy there broccolli and the chedder cheese in a can and a box of mashed potatos my four sons love it and have no idea it is from the dollar store! There potstickers are awesome also. BTW I have the same oven that came with my home built in 99 and still kicken love your cookin! BTW part 2 I am new to your channel and I love it lol from Chandler AZ
best way to eat okra is to fry it, if you are going to eat it without frying, then mix it with diced tomoatoes, that helps okra a lot--I would never eat it just by itself...
Love the gnocchi and pretzels I get them all the time. My kids are gluten free and they hate those meatballs 😂 they fall Apart too easy when cooking too :/
To cook okra, southern style. Rinse your okra, place in a plastic bag with 1/4 cup flour and salt and pepper. Heat enough oil to fry okra, add breaded okra and fry, turning over frequently in the pan. When it’s done, it won’t be like Golden Corral breaded okra. It will be more like fried potatoes. You can also add a bag of yellow squash to the okra. Another great way to do okra is in vegetable soup or gumbo. Just use about a quarter bag in your soup. Again this makes southern style vegetable soup. In gumbo you have a tomato, rice, beans mixture with shrimp and/ or polish sausage. Don’t give up on okra. It’s a bit of an acquired taste, but over all it’s a great vegetable, that originally found it’s way here from Africa along with the slaves.
Yellow rice, black beans, and cheese...sounds good.
I live in a rural area and a Dollar Tree just opened last month. I’m so excited to have one near by.
You know I am without a vehicle for the first time in my life. Sometimes have something just OK is WAY better than nothing to eat. Thank you for these tasty ideas. I especially love spring rolls.
I'm in the same boat and yes!
Plus I never have any dinner ideas so this helps lol
Thank you for never being judgmental and compassionate instead. Your love for Jesus shines through that way so thank you ❤️ Jesus bless you.
Thank you so much! We've been in those rough financial situations, and my goal is to show how you can still eat fairly well even with dollar store food. =)
Thanks for the ideas for dinner.
Finally someone else who eats Mac & Cheese with Tuna! My Nana made this for me and my 4 cousins when I was little. It's my comfort food 💓
🙋🏼♀️ raised on it. Still my fave 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you, that's awesome!!
To get the small cheese blocks to shred better, try freezing it first. For me, it shreds best about 75% frozen through.
I think it is great you are showing people that this can be done. These are hard times and people need to stretch their $. Reasonable food is much better than none.
This is so helpful for those of us on an extreme budget. Thanks so much for sharing 💚
Thank you, Korey! I'm glad it helps!

I would try fried rice and spring rolls

I am!! She's pretty awesome, and definitely inspired me to make some of these meals. =)
@@NoGettingOffThisTrain yes, she is quite awesome. I just found your channel and subbed. Your Dollar tree food videos are great! Tfs 👍😊

That's how I fix them
Thank you for this video.
Thank you for the introduction and review of spring rolls. They are awesome!!! I ate the entire package for breakfast/lunch ;)))
Yay! I think I need to buy them again soon. =)
I've ate yellow rice for over 30 years and love it. Good video
Those veggie meatballs are delicious
slightly freeze the cheese and it will shred better.... love the economy of your meals

Thank you! And yes, I've learned my lesson, LOL. I can't buy broccoli from Dollar Tree ever again because of this.
I never eat frozen broccoli as a side. I mix it in with something. As someone else commented, you could do fried rice with spring rolls. You can make your own fried rice.
Put the cheese in the freezer for a few minutes and then grate it
That meal with the pretzels remind me of the charlie brown Thanksgiving special when snoopy was cooking

Roast the frozen veggies at high heat 400 to 450 with olive oil garlic salt and pepper, do not thaw first. So much better.

We Canadians are jealous that your DTs have a cold and frozen food section. 😢🇨🇦
I'm sorry! It's weird how each store differs!
If you bread the okra with egg and bread crumbs, then put it into the air fryer, it comes out delicious without the sliminess.
That's such a good idea, thanks!
the mix veg look really good in mccheese.tuna.

Adding lemon or vinager to the okera (?) will make the slime go away all you need is a table spoon it works very well and fast !

Fried okra and pickled okra are the best ways to eat okra! So yummy both ways and no slim.
Good to know!! Thank you! =)

Love the gnocchi and pretzels I get them all the time. My kids are gluten free and they hate those meatballs 😂 they fall Apart too easy when cooking too :/
Yeah, I did notice the meatballs kind of "melted" when I put them on a plate. 😂
I just added butter on the broccoli ass they are boiling in water
That's a good idea!
Have you ever done shepherd's pie?
Not yet, but I'd like to!
The Mac and cheese is a meal already, you pretty much have a fourth meal if you think about it
Yeah, you have a point!
Their more on meals you can make with dollar tree
Just be created and improvised
Thank you for this! That sounds really good!
