Warms my heart to see a parent and child cooking together. I know I've said that before but it's awesome. She probably doesn't even know that she's learning math and life skills while she's helping you out, but that's exactly why we need more kids in the kitchen at younger ages. Plus, it's just fun! (Even if it takes twice as long with "help" lol)
My mother taught me to make cakes from scratch when I was 10 yo and I became the baker for our family. Your daughter did a great job. She will be a big help for you.
Everything looked delicious! You may want to add a bit more water to the bread and then brush the top with melted butter before baking. This would help with the golden brown color. God bless 🙏🏼❤️
My Dollar Tree regularly carries actual Hunts brand spaghetti sauce in a couple different flavors. It’s pretty decent sauce and the cans are 24 ounces!
Love this dinner! I think the chicken strips are a great idea. It is portion controlled, which is wonderful. I so appreciate that you substituted the chicken strips as substitutions are frequently necessary when I am cooking.
Allison is absolutely precious. I’m a divorced and single mother of three and I always do a “Special Valentine Meal” with my babies. I make mocktails to go with the meal and they always feel so special. I love seeing a mom and child bonding in the kitchen.
Thank you so much for making a Valentines video! What a great meal! I like how you film in order of what to do/make. You have a great bond in the kitchen with your daughter. It would be cool to see healthy snacks for kids video Or another video where kids can help make something fun!
Your Dollar Tree meal videos are my favorites!! 💗And your daughter has such an amazing personality. How about a birthday breakfast and dinner Dollar Tree challenge?
I loved this,...I love that you can put together atasty and inexpensive meal, and that you consider added sugar, salt, and portion servings...and try to balance it all.

You did great, your daughter is darling and tall! Great job Jamie and Allison. When you do your bread crumb add melted butter to make it moist. Happy Valentines Day! ShanaaRae
Nice job 👍 You did great at creating a balanced meal from solely using items from Dollar Tree. When you mixed up the ingredients for the bread it reminded me of biscuits. And of course it would be denser just using baking powder. But it seems to have worked out fine. As someone else said, you could have gotten the frozen garlic bread but since you were creating a special dinner, it makes sense to go the extra step of making bread from scratch. I search the frozen section every time I go to Dollar Tree and it seems to be different every time I go. And this does make it hard to plan and execute a menu when the items you need are not there. After you fixed the ravioli from there I picked up a package to try them. Then I decided I wanted another package to make a specific meal. And when I went back, there was no more ravioli. I checked at another DT and still couldn't find any. So now I'm altering my recipe to add a different pasta. I found the same thing with the 3 frozen eggrolls you had gotten but when I tried to find them in my store they didn't have any. So I ended up getting the 10 mini spring rolls which worked out fine. Now the only eggrolls I find are individual ones. Since you've spent so much time in Dollar Tree you have a pretty good idea of what they have. You've also learned how fast they change out items and something you found yesterday won't necessarily be there tomorrow. I probably spend as much time as you at the frozen food section. That's why I'm glad you try so many things and if you say they're okay then I'll try them. If you were not impressed or just didn't like it then I won't get it. It has been so helpful giving your viewers important information about products so we don't waste our time and money trying them. We've been going through this pandemic for so long and so many people are struggling to make ends meet. One thing I've found very helpful is the food bank we have here. This is provided by the county and you can get it every month. It contains frozen meat, fresh produce, pasta, rice, dried beans and an assortment of can goods among other staples. There is an assortment of bread and sometimes pie or cookies. Some items are donated by our local grocery stores. I encourage anyone who is having trouble buying food to check this out in your area. Check with your county, most have a food bank. Here we have to provide proof of residency by showing a piece of mail sent to us, as well as our driver's license. Another group provides extra can goods and other staples. Here we can go again any time of the month to pick up just produce. You can get this every week if you need to. This month there were a lot of tomatoes, bananas, apples, oranges and lemons. Often nuts are included. I read the comments before I write a comment. The food bank has been a life saver for so many people. Please check it out where you live. It exists because people need it. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed to go. You are not judged. They don't make you feel bad about being there. This need is serious and is treated that way. I hope this helps someone who's reading or maybe someone you know who needs it. Have faith, help is there for you. Thanks for sharing your special dinner with us. You are an inspiration and help us with all you provide. I hope the information about the food banks also helps. Bless you all!
Love the idea of the chicken parmesan and seeing Allison cook with you!!!! I’m so excited for the challenge you’re doing when you hit 10k as well!!!! Congrats!!! :)
Love seeing this video!! The frozen broccoli,Winter Blend and California Blend at Dollar Tree seem to have hard "Woody"broccoli! oh my goodness I loved it!!!! Although I have a bigger family I cook for, I can just add the extra items in easily. I love that you show how to do dollar tree meals. I am going to look to see if you have already done this, but what about a completely healthy dollar tree meal - well as healthy as you can get there that is.
Thank you so much! A lot of my DT meals are relatively healthy. I'd rather use fresh vegetables for them or even add extra; but hopefully they give you ideas on how to modify for your own needs!
Allison is a great help. Really enjoyed seeing her help out. She should cook more. Your valentine's meal looked good. Loved the addition of the bread crumbs and cheese on the vegetables. Definitely going to try that. I need to make that cake too.

One trick to the frozen veggies is defrost it, rinse it then squeeze out the water like what you would do with frozen spinach. I bake it after tossing it in olive oil and salt and pepper and it comes out as a lovely crispy roast broccoli
I love this video, I'm one of those subscribers that watches the holiday dinner videos over and over. I must say Allison does a great job mixing that batter. Jaime, I hate to tell you this but when I make a cake I use milk for water, 2 extra eggs, butter times 2 instead of oil and a pudding mix. Ugh, way too fattening I guess. Love your videos.
lol. You literally made baked bannock the way Native people do it. Except baked bannock tastes better with a bit of fat in the dough, like a bit of lard or butter worked in before adding water. Then flatten it like a foccacia, and let the top brown a bit in the oven. Tastes better fresh n hot with butter but it's good cold too.
Your dinner looks great! 💕 Did you really find brown eggs at Dollar Tree? I've been buying eggs there for years (same brand) and NEVER found brown eggs. 😉🤭😂
