Great story, just sad she is donating money to the oppressive religion of Christianity. So sad when young people are brainwashed into believing fairytales and make believe sky daddy
As a bee keeper myself, hobbyist, I applaude this young person! We need more like minded people to keep our bee populations going. I hope we can keep in touch with her to watch her hives grow.
Great job Elizabeth You go girl Keep on buzzing for those bees I just started this year as a beekeeper and I’m 67 Wish I started at your age God Bless You and keep you strong and keep on buzzing❤❤❤w🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
I'm an Iowa beekeeper and I was delighted to see this piece. Elizabeth, you're an amazing young lady and I wish you all the success and happiness as you work with these magical creatures! (Bees will keep surprising you each year you keep them. Never be afraid to experiment with new beekeeping ideas and question what more experienced beekeepers THINK that they know to be true. For example, when I began beekeeping, I was told by all the experts that bees in the Northern United States during the winter NEED at least 2 deep boxes filled with honey and that they MUST be wrapped to protect them from the winter wind. Well, I discovered that wasn't true for my bees. I overwinter my bees in just ONE 10 frame deep and I do NOT wrap them either! Each year, I average between 80% and 90% winter survival rate!) Good luck and I wish you all the best!!!!
Me too. I save bees in distress and put them on flowers. They are an amazing insect. You should watch the PBS story about bees on Channel 50 in CA. It's about a photographer that films the lives of bees in his backyard. You won't believe how smart they are and intuitive of humans.
Omg I don't think I've seen Sunday Morning do a story on something so cute & precious! I'm so happy that she found her calling at such a young age! Most kids her age are still trying to figure out who they are.
This is inspiring, Elizabeth ! I have a friend who was a bee keeper and have a small idea of how much work is involved, the expense and the things that can go wrong. You have my utmost respect and I hope to read more stories about you in the future. All my best from Wisconsin.
How extraordinary for a young person to find such a strong connection with the natural world. She has discovered the satisfying beauty of being a steward of life around her. Brava ragazza!
Bee keeping is a passion that is disappearing at an alarming rate. It gladdens my heart to see young people becoming the next generation of bee keepers.
Young people like this fine young lady give us hope for a better future! Thanks to her, those who nurtured her & this channel for sharing this wonderful story of hope & love. God bless all who are improving our environment and our world.💙🙏🏻
I couldn't agree with you more. I feel the same way about bees as she does. I'm glad her parents and neighbor have encouraged her to do her life's work. Being in nature is a gift from God. 🙏🙇♀️✝️🐝🏵🌻🪻🌲
What an inspiring story. It’s great to see young girl find a passion in life at an early age and have the ability to pursue it with her parent’s blessing and support. Makes all the difference!
I'm so glad that there are kids, our future, that are so smart and know already, what their passion is in life. I'm also glad that their parents are helping them to achieve their passions. This is a great story!
Great story. We need more positive news like this. Thanks Martha. Read your dog book. Fab. Made me smile. It's such a warm feeling to know there are caring people out there.
OMG - During the pandemic, Penn State Extension offered many online courses for free - this was one on them. I signed up and did one lesson and never went back. I wonder if that is when she found the class. Nice job young woman.
great story, it is awesome that her parents support her in this hobby of hers since it is not the typical hobby a young lady would do. Keep up the great work you are doing, and the life long learning about bees.
My goodness, beautiful light honey! It's wonderful that Elizabeth is learning how to keep bees as a youth and fostering such great knowledge. Next step - consider loosing the heavy leather gloves that keep you from feeling the bees under your fingers when you inspect the frames. These gloves often cause more crushed bees, which means more alarm pheromones released and more irritated bees to try and work with. Less squished bees equals less stings in the long run.
The one thing that was never said as how the bees make the honey they throw up in each other's mouth until the honey is just right and then they put it in the cell
Some people search their whole lives for their calling. Who knows where her future will take her but i bet, whatever that future might be, it will have something to do with bees 🙂
Oy. Giving money to a church. Don't get me wrong, community centers for special occasions, emergencies and such are necessary, but the oooga booga stuff is detrimental.
She's only 11, and she's already learned to bee amazing. That's inspiration for us all!
What a blessing to find your calling at such an early age and have parents that support her in her passion.
So agree. This is her calling. Thank God she is motivating the youth to take up beekeeping. We need more kids like her. 🐝🏵🌸🌻
Great story, just sad she is donating money to the oppressive religion of Christianity. So sad when young people are brainwashed into believing fairytales and make believe sky daddy
No kidding!
Neighbors helping Neighbors helping the world!! ❤❤❤
I love everything about this. Fostering children’s passions are one of the greatest joys of life.
What an amazing young woman, with fantastic parents and neighbors.
That's the big score in this story. Adults that cared enough , that were willing, to let a child in. Bravo for good neighbors!
I love that she hums as she cares for the bees.
What a way to live, humming at doing what you love to do
I think by humming unconsciously she wants to communicate with her bees. What a fantastic and inspiring story!
As a bee keeper myself, hobbyist, I applaude this young person! We need more like minded people to keep our bee populations going. I hope we can keep in touch with her to watch her hives grow.
"When you see your kid light up about something..."
Beauty. ❤
I just love stories like this. Thank you CBS Sunday Morning for engaging us with a few moments of civility and enjoyment every weekend.

Wow! Girl you rock! Keep doing what you love......!
Love this, I've wanted honey bees for so long
Because I too love bees, though I am not a beekeeper, I love this story.

Impressive young girl. I admire her vision and determination.
May Elizabeth inspire many more to follow in her footsteps. Bees are the pollinators, but Elizabeth is sign of hope for the future of the world.
It's nice to see a positive story about a child.

Of all the great things here (parents being #1) I adore that the meeting group elected her Youth Outreach Coordinator.

Awesome!!
I has been proven that Vets with PTSD are calmed by the buzzing, as well.

So neat!
She's grown up.
Natural honey is great for treating burns
The one thing that was never said as how the bees make the honey they throw up in each other's mouth until the honey is just right and then they put it in the cell
Interesting. I never knew that. Thank you for informing us. I love bees and any new information on them is greatly appreciated. 👍🐝

Some people search their whole lives for their calling. Who knows where her future will take her but i bet, whatever that future might be, it will have something to do with bees 🙂
Sir Edmund Hillary fitst Everest ascender was beekeeper
Well, her name is Elizabeth. That says it all. :) Go get 'em kid. From one Elizabeth to another.
Someday Elizabeth just might be teaching a beekeeper college course.
role model to other kids. way better than than the fake influencers.
Her folks should connect Erika Thompson from Texas. Just to collaborate and visit.
Can you post a connection to her honey site? I only see Facebook connection.
i just learned honeybees are not native to the US, and are in fact considered invasive.
I don't think it'll be 15 years?
Last time in Maine, every Bee Keeper was in their 70's.
I wonder if she knows how bad southern state need Bees?
Takes a village to raise a child.
Well I’ll be…
Well, does she live in Old Town or Eddington? They are on opposite sides of the Penobscot River.
I thought the narrator was an SNL character
Oy. Giving money to a church. Don't get me wrong, community centers for special occasions, emergencies and such are necessary, but the oooga booga stuff is detrimental.
The host at the beginning can’t possibly be a real person?
Mo Rocca? Yes, yes he is real.
Why is it no longer acceptable for little girls to grow up to be loving caring women that do not want to be a man?
She is being loving and caring towards the bees and in turn our planet. That not good enough for you? She’s just a kid.
