    You guys do the best reviews IMO. Always very thoughtful and detailed. Good to see Chris B. and the Bent 120's still doing so well :)

      It's more textured than glossy as well, so it also just feels different.

    Sitting here in the shadow of the Cottonwood Canyon where it was 105 yesterday, basking in the powder glow of my computer screen. Great review!

    We need to get him on the Cardiff powgoda, that ski is ridiculously fun to ride. Low key blows the bent out of the water

    1:43 "You didn't tell him he was wrong about any of his ski design?"
    Bob just earned a month's wages with that one!

      Ha! Just because someone's name is on the ski doesn't make them right about it, right?

    My favorite pow ski of all time is the Automatic 117, still using it and hoping to find a suitable replacement. Always liked the Bent Chet in hero snow but found it too noodly and a rough ride when things get chopped up. Glad to see they made the tips stiffer, that's a great start. Like to see that weight come up to smooth out the ride, they already have a light option with the Backland.

      Definitely check out the new Maverick 115 CTi. We touched on it in this video, but it's basically what you're looking for.

    Tbh the removal of the carbon just seems like something they did only for cost cutting purposes. The carbon was THE thing that set the 120s apart from the rest of the lineup. And the springy-ness of carbon in powder is amazing, so really sad to see that go.

      You could be on to something there. For me though the new one will likely work better as I weigh 250. I felt the old one would likely have been too soft for me.

      @SkiEssentials  Месяц назад

      I've wanted to try the narrower Bents with the carbon backbone forever. While I don't foresee that happening, the new construction of the 120 and the 100 are beefier and more solid-feeling than ever before.

    Hello guys you talked a bit about not having enough nose in some lenghts.
    My question is I own the black crows animas in a 194 lenght and I‘m about 6,4 183 pounds. I‘m fairly strong but I want something softer with a more forward stance. Would you say that the revolt 121‘s may be a bit short for my height?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  5 дней назад +1

      They're pretty hefty skis, so I think that the Revolt makes sense in the longer lengths for your height.

      $850 retail. Not insurmountable. Reduce coffee, alcohol, and snacks for three months. Put all that money in a separate account and see what you come up with. It can be done!

    I tried the 2022-2023 version and loved it, and I intended to buy this one but am hesitant due to the stiffness changes. I'm fairly lightweight, around 145 lb, and am afraid the extra stiffness will have a larger effect on me than it does for others.
    Should I look to get the 23/24 version or is the difference too small to matter?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  24 дня назад +1

      The difference exists. I don't think it's a catastrophic change, but is fair and accurate to note that lighter skiers will likely get along better with the previous version. Then there's the cost! By getting the older pair, that likely suits you better, you're saving a few hundred dollars. www.skiessentials.com/products/2024-atomic-bent-chetler-120-skis?ski%2520size=176

    Honestly, I dont like the new construction. I absolutely love my BC120 because of the extremely low weight. That is something I was afraid of at first, but loved it while doing the first turns with it. There was no comparison. So playful, poppy and you couldnt really feel any weight at the foot. Yes, 2000g is still very light, but i cant imagine it still feel the same

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Месяц назад

      Are you speaking from experience or theory? They still feel light, it's only about 100 grams spread out through the whole ski. I do think the pep has been reduced a bit, but the sturdiness has increased. As always, we encourage skiers to use empirical evidence whenever possible when it comes to new ski models. There's still nothing quite like it out there.

    Just wondering, how would a Volkl Blaze 106 do in that kind of snow?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  Месяц назад

      Pretty good! The Blaze 106 is one of the better floaters at that width. The Blaze 114 would be the ski for me in that snow, though, as it has the more directional character with the extra width. But for the other attributes of the Blaze 106, combined with its good flotation, it's a sweet ski.

    5:44 okay that was cringe. I don't care about saving 1 gram of CO2 it's about having the best skis at the lowest price point.
