I'm happy to see the technology develop as it's essential. In 6 months this thing will be like half price. No competition for it at the moment, you know by February there will be like 40 different companies all doing these same-spec mini PCs.
7:47 I just tested my Radeon 780M (12 CU) at 2.5 GHz and LPDDR5X-7500. This Radeon 890M (16 CU) at almost 3 GHz and LPDDR5X-8000 generates 29% more fps. Coming from almost 60% faster compute and 7% bandwidth. AMD making a bigger NPU instead of removing it for Infinity Cache (iGPU L3) because of AI hype is just sad.
The real issue is that amd made this chip for thin laptops aimed at AI market which is where the money is currently, for gaming they should do a different custom APU with no NPU and much less cpu cores in favor of more gpu cores and faster ram, but they won’t do that cause it’s not worth it to them, they will just rebrand this laptop chip as Z2e disabling some cores…pretty sad indeed, only Valve has the means to ask the to produce a custom gaming APU, since they can afford to sell hardware at loss but sell more steam games thanks to Steam OS, i hope they will do that with Steam Deck 2 soon
Good video. Very impressed by the performance in most of the games. I would recommend having non-frame generation results when you're showing performance. At best it's just a misrepresentation of the real performance of the chip. That's without mentioning the input lag that can't be showed through a video. If the game can only pass 60fps with frame gen, that means the real fps it's in the 30-40, then you add the render time of the generated frames and you end up with an imput lag that (I believe) most PC gamers aren't going to be happy with.
Hopefully Valve won’t screw up and will use a cheaper custom APU which will deliver even better gaming performance at lower cost without having to use all those cpu cores and NPU, plus i hope and think they will keep a 800p display which for the size of 7/8 inch is still good and allows more performance in games while still using the native resolution of the display, keeping it Oled will be the main thing to do
Over $1000 and no dedicated gpu. Not worth it at all. I'm sorry but minisforum and AMD need to step out of crazy and get their crap together. They are smoking something if they think people are going to buy this when the 780m is almost as good.
