Blegh, yes, why must it be so difficult to find things to love without worrying the people who made them were being secretly tortured or something? /_\ Pouring your heart into something only to have it broken by bad actions is so painful.
Yeah it can definitely be hard to separate the games from the people who made them in some cases. It sucks because game development is a team effort and one person at the top shouldn’t be able to spoil a product that many passionate devs worked on. But I do think at a certain point a game can just become a part of you in some sense, especially if you grew up with it. In that case, I don’t think you should be forced to give up your love for that thing, because it does hold importance in your life. But I do try to avoid buying new games that have problematic creators just out of principle. I think a good way to enjoy a game you love while supporting good people is buying fan merch. I’ve been doing that a lot recently and it feels so much better buying something from Etsy rather than GameStop.
No ethical love under capitalism :( Or patriarchal catering to predilictions for problematic art. Or weird racist fanboys. Needless to say I have no answers, but as a fellow enjoyer of deeply problematic industries I sympathize. I guess at least James Stephanie Sterling is handling the angry leftist critiques of Triple A so no one else needs to.
ive heard very good stuff about the jimquisition! yeah, hopefully this video made clear i don't have a lot of energy for topics like these but ended up with a bushel of very.. emotionally confusing data??

Totally! I feel all of this, especially games becoming part of you...
