I grew up in Texas and have struggled with the 'hard r' sound my entire life. I've had lessons before and was told "open your mouth, depress your tongue" but it never really had the effect I was looking for. I don't know why, but the ng-ahh-awww exercise is the first time it has clicked so drastically for me. Thank you so much for posting this video!

This made so much sense! I only hear the nasally sounds when I hear feedback of myself, but not when I'm just regularly talking. And you made a perfect example of what I'm trying to avoid which is speaking TOO deeply because then it just sounds fake and pretentious and like I'm trying to change it. Gonna have to practice.

But when I was younger almost every time I told someone my name which is Sunita, they would confuse it for Samantha. And half the time in my recordings of myself, I can’t even understand what I am saying. I think I might be getting surgery to help with my voice because the last one doesn’t seem to be working because I still sound the exact same!
