Great video. I believe the problem is the boat race is too commercialized with vendors and the actual race activities takes a back seat. The same thing happened in my area. We have the Bethlehem Music Fest. Over the years it’s gotten so commercialized and overcrowded that I stopped going. I always have to mention that your 2 young ladies are gorgeous as ever. This festival looks bigger then the one i go to here in the states. petted lamas said hi to the rabbits sung tunes into the night.(love the music in your videos) i always have a blast. point of interest, the year of covid the last song i heard at the festival was REMs its the end of the world as we know it. I'm not physic or psychotic lol but, that was weird. Anyway that sounds like a road trip for me CLEANING UP. At the festivals here they hire a crew every year. I've never worked a crew but i personally know people who work on them. You get the crew give each of them a section rotate the shifts its definitely doable. great video. i just heard that while typing A winga lol😂
Your completely right about the rubbish, there is no reason for it. If they have no respect for the land, others or future generation. What's the point of helping them with water filters and food if they are just going to pollute the water and soil intentionally. There's no need to have rubbish, most things can go into compost, bokashi bin or recycled. If it comes in plastic just don't by it. The only thing I can think of that I buy other than high end electronics so they last. Probably rice but that sack can be upcycled, used for ages in the garden or a sack for fish you catch, a cover for something. I still drive a car when needed, still ship things like fert that I can't get locally. But aim to have a light foot print.

No problem to retire in Thailand, Philippine or Indonesia but not possible in Laos or Vietnam because there is no contract with them. I was surprised that I did not see much trash during one of your Taht Luang Festival videos. I wonder if it was because of the difference between the Temple and the river. Lao people are very flexible. Generally, you and I admire that. But a string is also flexible, and you can't push a string. Lao people will passively resist. I know that some time ago the government passed a good law requiring motorcycle helmets. Look at the end of the video from the night before to see how many people were wearing helmets. Not many. There was no identifiable resistance, but unfortunately the law did not work. The Road Warrior farang crew went to the boat racing festival in Pakse and enjoyed it. Maybe you should put together a list of Lao festivals that are good to see and others that travelers should probably pass on.
Agreed on the garbage issue there in Laos. I was disappointed when I visited there last year. Lovely country and lovely people but all the garbage everywhere does make the country look bad. My opinion only
They should have pushed the mound of mud down closer to the water edge. Would have covered all that trash tell the next flood season. Or they need to build a new floating board Walk. Mate I could not believe the rubbish in the streets., dam shame. We enjoyed Laos but I was happy to get back to Nongkhai . And girls, put your seat belts on, massive fine back in Oz if you’re caught.
