Ever since Maddon has been with the cubs, it feels like he understands the strategy of getting thrown out of games, more than actually being pissed off.

He really worked over his career at being more of a hothead in key spots. It's definitely not how he generally rolls but he knows there are moments he needs to do it and go hard at it. He's done a good job cultivating that ability.

Wow poor Joe! Maddon has gotten screwed a lot by the umpires! Didn’t realize just about every time he argues he’s right.
As the video shows he got screwed a lot when he managed the Rays. MLB umpires games with a clear pecking order: Certain teams get favorable calls over certain other teams. It still clearly happens to Joe from time to time with the Cubs but definitely not as much.
Thing is…on most of these, Maddon’s anger was righteous.

Maddon is one of the best managers of the game. He does not go out just to argue. He is usually correct when he does argue with the umps. He knows the game well though.

Poor Joe. I'd be pretty upset too if I knew the rules better than the guys who are supposed to be enforcing them on the field. I feel like Joe gets the call right more often than almost any other manager- and he gets tossed more for being right too

Lan-Ham I would like to see that too as a dipper myself. But sadly the game now has tried to get players not to do dip/chew as much on the field. Though I still do see players doing that on the field so not sure how much they enforce that rule.

Lan-Ham I honestly don’t think the MLB really enforces that rule too much. It is one of those ‘on paper’ rules that aren’t really followed. And I know umps don’t enforce it at all. Hell a good portion of the umps have dip/chaw in during the game too haha.

Don't you love it when umpires make up rules like lets go ahead and think of a bullshit reason to help the Reds. I have watched a lot of baseball and old baseball videos before and I have never heard of throwing to an unoccupied base before. I think the fix was in.
