I've been a fan of The Knife for a long time, glad to see that the show The Handmaid's Tale has brought over new listeners.
Its a good soundtrack
THANK YOU THE HANDMAIDS TALE 😍😍😍😍😍
Kristen Hernandez the best thing this series did was introduce me to this band
Handmaid's Tale brought me here as well!
Me too!
Last week, it was the brilliant track 'Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby' by Cigarettes After Sex.
Katherine J. Legry no, she meant the tv series because the show introduced this song to her, not the book. :)
+Gabiel ~ Yes - and Nick. ;-)
This is such a weird song but I love it ! Portishead, Massive Attack, Bjork vibe yeah!!!
I can't get enough 😃😃😃
I forgot about Portishead and Idk MA so Ill have to check them out, thank you

Amazing use of this in The Handmaid's Tale. I screamed IT'S THE KNIFE when it came on.
Got so happy when I heard this on The Handmaid's Tale 😄 always good when awesome artists like the Knife get recognition 🤗
HOLY FUCK. Very Portishead..... AMAZING. Under his eye..... praise be ... thank you Handmaid's Tale for this gem
Very, I heard The Knife on Portishead radio on Pandora. Handmaid is so well scored!
hmm i could hear Beth singing it..
Sound like good old fashion Dead Can Dance stuff. I love it :D
It really does. I suspect Karin is a fan!
one of the best songs ever made
Wow, what a song. Great addition to The Handmaid's Tale episode 9.
This was my exact reaction while watching the The Handmaid's Tale:
"Whoah, this song is awesome! It sounds like something "The Knife" would make. The singer even sounds like Karin Dreijer, but it obviously can't be her, because no one's ever heard of...wait a minute."
_mind explodes_
Lol
My SAME thought process!!!
Basically my reaction!
absolutly the same !!!! behind the horizont.
holy fuck this comment is pretentious
that voice + that sound = goosebumbs
The music immediately mesmerized me and I had to do some digging to find out what it was. So excited to find it!
Same!
My favourite song from the album
I started to listen The Knife sometimes around 2008-09 . I would like to thank my friend for sharing this with me back then.
i love Karin n Olof! u Rock!
This is sublime music
So I had a surreal time with my very hot boss at work one day, passionate playing that started with a simple embrace... Already knew this song but it happened to play on the radio on my drive home, what are the odds? Awesome.
Immersed in The Handmaid's Tale. Loving the music. In particular this one. Never heard of them before. Loud applause to the soundtrack - it adds much to the menace and tension!
"Praised be, bitch. Here's your damn package. Xoxo, Moira."

The Handmaid's Tale brought me here. Brilliant track. hadn't heard of the band as I'm dreadfully uncool
I've never heard of the band, and I'm cool.
Naahh, dude! You are cool, since you like that song and The Handmaid's Tale ;)
I'd heard of the band before and I am definitely uncool.
Uncool is the cool of these days. Listen to Fever Ray. Very uncool.
It appears you're receiving a gift from Moira. First time listener. Can't wait to hear more.
Nearly leapt off my sofa! Brave Moira!

Handmaide's tale, first season chapter nine. 6am... you tube...then.... (looking for this one). Makes me remember some of Dead can dance....some of Bjork....some of Portished. Even Loreena McKennitt...
Cool song, and it reminded of Lincoln Park's instrumental 'Sessions' the first time I heard it.
Please come to Taiwan !
The Handmaid's Tale brought me here ❤️
Me too.
Me also!
Al Saphir me 2
Pete Dorey Praised be!
Blessed Be
Still awesome
Raging Lung is also magical
This is a great song to watch The Villa of Ormen to.
This is good but I would much prefer another Fever Ray album! I can honestly say that I have seldom been stunned by an album as much as that before or since. Maybe Fat of the Land did it last.. but your Fever Ray tracks have so much detail that the longevity is infinite. Concrete Walls is the underdog! I love how it's in 10/4 & has a protracted instrumental finalé at the end! Pleeeeease do just 1 more Fever Ray record.. I will mail you my soul!
*****
Well, I know which I'd prefer! With the Knife, I can tell where they stopped creating/performing & just started copying & pasting the rest. Not just the infamous 16 minute long song! But others that lack that spiritual almost feral edge to them. Having a 20 minute long song is FINE if it offers me something I can differentiate from the rest of the track as it progresses. But like all electronically produced tracks now.. you get about a minutes worth of material.. & the rest becomes repetition. Fever Ray on the other hand is faultless! If you listen to "I'm Not Done", listen carefully & you'll hear a cello that contributes only right at the end! And it's a Waltz too! Which you don't hear much anymore. :( Also many of Ray's tracks actually have endings. Opposed to just fading out, which is just a cop out really. The Ending is what *makes* "Triangle Walks"! And then there's the percussion, which on Concrete Walks for instance is just astonishing. Lastly, the vocal dissonances are addictive somehow! Apart from a track by Samaris (Góða Tungl) you don't hear that anywhere else. The Knife are hit n miss for me.
Abominable Love
Fascinating. I think you may have an extra ability of interpreting music that I may have capitulated inadvertently. o_O Granted, I haven't listened to STH as much as FR, but I still think that a careful balance is achieved more on FR. The tracks on this album tend to be abstract in terms of sound, but still lack the cohesion & elegance, the melodic genius & almost genre-defiant mood swings that keeps you guessing. Stay Out There has just been added. Listen to it, & you'll notice that the beat never stops for a moment. Not once. It feels like they made a beat, looped it, added some gorgeous analog sculpted synths to it, sung to their cues, & let it roll until they were satisfied! Now I'm not saying this is bad, on the contrary, it feels very natural & 'Live'. Many like this approach to song writing. :) I however, appreciate a more perspicacious approach; a conscious effort to consider every variable. Melody, Sounds, Rhythm, Structure, Layering, Chord Progression, FX, Etc. Fever Ray excels at this! I mean to an obsessive extent! For instance at 26 seconds in to Concrete Walls, the spoon stick slap back required these steps to work:
2 on the left pan,
2 on the right pan,
1 hit through Multi-tap pan delay, reverse it, & place before the final hit!
Something I call Parry, Nary, Tarry! :p Now, you can't do all these little things in one go per a live recording set. There is a cogent esoteric awareness for tiny detail as a sort of 'heads up' to producers out there that is just absent in the Knife. I can only assume it was made with more .. erm.. élan?
*****
Hmmm, I think whereas I seem to focus more on theme when judging an album, you seem to focus on sonics. I am no expert, as you seem to be, but I will concede that Fever Ray has a level of nuance that seemingly can only be achieved when Karin is crafting on her own. I mean, you can literally hear every breath and lip smack with each line delivery on the opener and that cello you mention in I'm Not Done is one of my favorite musical moments of all time. There was clearly a profuse amount of care that went into that album, but I think STH is more about, as the title suggests, forgoing norms, which manifested itself as a centerpiece of improvisation. The Dreijers wanted to create something new and bold, and while that might mean that they renounced perfection in their uncompromising ambition, I think they've succeeded in their aim and are more commendable for it. Again, I am not firm in my opinions. I've been living with FR for 5 years and STH less than 1. I honestly, probably have more love for FR, but I have greater respect for STH. I just don't think STH should be disregarded as "not as good as Fever Ray," because while that very well may be true, it's because it was so much more of an enterprise in my opinion.
Fever Ray is certainly flawless. Every step one takes while listening to that album is monumental. I can see pointing out similarities, but to compare it to any Knife album is silly. It's a totally different project with a different concept and feel, though again, there are similarities. That's why we have been blessed with choices. Enough choices where we can spin the A side of FR and then throw on side D of STH, etc. I would love for her to follow up with her solo project, but because we have already been given the greatest album, we can't complain.
To comment on this song, though; It's superb. Enjoy it or don't... but I feel You would find it difficult not to.
therealKINDLE your wish has been granted
full of fire
Thank you Moira.
special thanks to handmaid's tale 💕
Variation of Birds brought me here but hey the handmaids tale was good

Yes Moira
This is what Fever Ray should have gone for in her second album. This is more Karin's solo project vibes than The Knife's.
Here from handmaids tale. Good shit

You are so special

Under his EYE
May the Lord open
what genre is this? i love it!!!
It is considered to be an experimental electronic music, as its production is quite unconventional and the sound itself doesn't suit any other genre
Of course you might hear some traces of trip hop, ethno, drone music, etc., but The Knife have always had their own sound that simply can not be put in a single category
@@deniseshaharkrivosh thank you!
The Handmaid's Tale brought me here!!!!!!!!
This single-handedly raises the score of THT from abysmal to something else. Thought at first it was a cover of New Dawn Fades by - Joy Division of all things.
Ni borde verkligen göra en Shaking The Habitual-spelning i Sverige igen.
CARINO
The oriental melody reminds me of n early 00s song but i cant seem to figure out which one! Any guesses?
Beginning sounds like some of dead can dance song
I agree this is amazing!

"Praised be, bitch. Here's your damn package." XOXO Moira
I came from the handmaids tale ❤
why so short? :(
i think they should try highlighting certain elements in their songs, when she sings "i'm free.." they could have emphasized that in the music a bit more, brought it more to the forefront. Just bringing the voices more to the fore would make this better in my opinion. Adding more contrast to the phasing in and out would be good.
come to syria
Alex Burgess Why? Wanting a fantastic set of persons to come where You are and play their music is horrible?
Sounds like lord of the rings
It's sad that it took a lame Hulu series to bring you here!!!
This is quite Bjorkish.
Please...make a better video
HAHAHAHAHA LOL!
