    No roll on our fairways, the grass is way too high and wet.

    I'm 72. My good drives carry about 175 to 180 and end up about 220. I'm guessing I can do this about 6 out of 10 shots. My misses are block slices (i think caused by reverse weight shift) and of course the occasional pull. Yes, it would be great to hit a draw. I'd probably add about 10 yards to my average drive. But then I always ask the question, how bad are my misses?
    It is awesome to hit the high, towering, running draw that gives me 235 yards. After all, I'm only searching for another 15 yards, right? Well, when I hit it perfectly, it's great. But meanwhile, how bad are my misses? I have to ask, is it better to hit one out of 10 shots 15 yards further than normal, if your misses (9 of 10) lose 30 or 40 yards?
    This is a topic seldom discussed in these coaching videos. The "miracle cure" produces a dramatic result, but we focus on that one shot that gives us a glimpse or our true potential at the cost of sometimes a huge control or distance loss.
    Despite my diatribe, I loved the video and will probably give it a try. Thanks for posting.

      That is a really great point Ron. Also, a lot of men hit their Three wood on average longer than their driver. The misses on a Three wood are straighter and do not lose as much distance as a poorly struck driver.

    Show the grip close up. Can't see what you're showing. Talking about initial hand showing V.

    Mike hi this so far is good BUT WHAT IF LIKE ME FOR YOUR FADE YOU BUY AN OFFSET DRIVER , AND NOW THE BALL LEAVES THE TEE IN ANY WHICH WAY I HAVE NO IDEA , Its scary so it stays at home.

    • @MikeSullivangolf
      @MikeSullivangolf  4 года назад

      Hi Paul,
      The offset driver can be offputting to look at for a lot of golfers. I personally would never want to use one just because of the way it appears at set up. You have to keep in mind that your ball will fly based on the physics of your golf swing though. So if your club face is open relative to the path you’re going to hit a fade or a slice if your club is closed relative to the path you will hit a hook or a draw. Back to my original statement though, if the club sets up in a way that gives you a problem with your confidence, it’s not going to work. Almost all of the newer drivers are marketed as either better players clubs or game improvement clubs. If you’re struggling with directional control or distance look at one of these more “game improvement“ drivers. You don’t have to buy a brand new one you could buy one that’s three years old and save yourself a ton of money. I would also highly recommend hitting the driver before you commit to it. If you can take it on the course or a couple of rounds of golf that would be even better. Hope this helps.

    SORRY !!! My mistake. Of course it curves to the left. Humble apologies.

    Mike I play with a lot of seniors. My observation is they are mostly all arms and hands with very little body rotation. They throw their hands and club at the ball with no real power or whip which is caused by proper use of the body. Just my opinion..

      Yes, I think you're correct in how most seniors swing. In an upcoming video, I'll talk about turning the hips and shoulders more.

    Show how the legs work. Show wrist snap. Let everyone know about only arms do not give the power. It's hip, turn, wrist snap and finish. Show the finish. Very Important. Thousands don't finish. Their right foot doesn't pivot and is stuck preventing power of body turn into ball.

    What about ball position

    • @MikeSullivangolf
      @MikeSullivangolf  6 лет назад

      Hi Dave, we want to position the ball forward of center with the driver. But if we position the ball too far forward, we'll probably start to see some slicing taking place. If we position the ball too far back, we'll see pushes and hooks.

    The crack of a whip IS due to the fact that the tip travels at supersonic speeds. I suggest you do a little research before making "I don't believe..." comments that are demonstrably wrong.

    Pretty basic stuff, been doing these things since my mid 30’s. So there is no real help for me to be found here. I still have a very good swing, but I am hitting my drives 50:yards shorter than years ago. Still have a single digit handicap, but that’s because of golf IQ, not physicality. Age catches up to all of us. I will switch shafts and practice the short game more. LOL.

      Yes John, this is very true. I certainly don’t hit it nearly as long as I did 20 years ago.

    No much info here. Guess he wants to make a series of videos covering this topic so they’ll be more views/comments and more Y/T money for him.

    Mike, I hate to disagree with you , but the reason seniors don't hit it far enough is because they don't have a shoulder turn, they pick it up and swing it with their arms. I am 71 and can hit it 270 all day! reason>>>>a shoulder turn and then let it go! 8 iron 152-155 reason>>shoulder turn. Don't know who you studied under by learning the golf swing and teaching it, but maybe you should re-consider!!

    Sorry Mike, you say it curves to the left and just rolls. If it's a draw don't you mean it curves to the right ?

      For a righthander player curves to the left is a Draw
