If I had to guess why people hate Sabaton is because a lot of the rift sound very similar and after you listen to them for a while you kind of start to think that all their music the same and people don't understand history so they think it's all surface-level and maybe they don't understand why Sabaton is such a powerful and awesome band
I think most metalheads listen to metal for the musical variety ('cause we're a very cultured group under the surface) and if you're listening to Sabaton for the first time, like the guy above me said, they use the same riff, so all their songs will start to sound similar after 6 or 7. Personally, I don't come to Sabaton for the musical variety; I have other bands for that (e.g. Blind Guardian, Insomnium), I come because they are all awesome dudes who have a great respect for history and want to give the same energy for every historical figure (and that may be why they don't experiment with their sound). Plus, they're a super-fun band who loves what they do and how can you not find that level of enthusiasm infectious! P.S. I think another reason is that power metal is among one of the more hated metal genres and their are some trolls who just look for bands in the subgenre and then say they suck because they dislike the subgenre as a whole (I do not understand why though; power metal is the perfect outlet for my geeky self!)

MyYTwatcher is right. I saw them live at Graspop in July and the choir made the concert one of the best concerts I've ever been to. It's absolutely nuts how good it sounds. This recording at Wacken doesn't do it any justice.

The chorus of Price of a Mile gets me every time. No matter the side, a human, a life, someone's son, husband, father, friend, pushing the agenda of those who are not on the battlefield. Very saddening and sobering song.
If you listen to all of Sabaton's WWI and II songs in order (someone did a playlist on RUclips!) "Race to the Sea" represents the last gasp of this idea of leaders leading their own troops into battle, and it's a sad enough song to start with! (Though sometimes said troops were press-ganged or effectively paid in getting to pillage whoever they conquered, war sucked back then too!)

And playing on two stages at the same time! Plus special guests: Tina Guo and the Great War Choir! That was EPIC 🤘😎🤘
Honestly, I just re-watched this and it made me ball my eyes out that they have gotten their WHOLE line up back for this special moment. This is so precious. These guys are so kind. Childhood dreams have been fullfilled that day, and it was epic, sweet lord. SO good!

I would probably add Fields of Verdan with Thobbe, but I understand that selecting three songs from such bombastic concert is very hard.

Såå kul att se de med de gamla medlemmarna. Great to see former/still/ existing members of the band. I have a drumstick at home from Daniel Mullback which was handed to me directly from Oskar at their new year´s gig in pub Engelbrekt in Falun 2006 after the stick bounced back to the stage. The stick has got a printed autograph with his name on and the text Sweden´s fastest drummer 2006. I loved Mullback´s drumming. The new drummer is also very good. All the members who has contributed to Sabaton, thank You!
I've always like alot of metal but not like this. Then I started listening to sabaton as a joke fore crusader memes and its started to grow on me and now I actually enjoy them.

I have a drumstick at home from Daniel Mullback which was handed to me directly from Oskar at their new year´s gig in pub Engelbrekt in Falun 2006 after the stick bounced back to the stage. The stick has got a printed autograph with his name on and the text Sweden´s fastest drummer 2006. I loved Mullback´s drumming. The new drummer is also very good. All the members who has contributed to Sabaton, thank You!

I've always like alot of metal but not like this. Then I started listening to sabaton as a joke fore crusader memes and its started to grow on me and now I actually enjoy them.

I never likes heavy metal bands until I heard to he'll and back being blasted in my workplace came on RUclips to find the song and im proud to say I own 3 of there albums and as soon as sabaton are going on tour in the UK I'm buying tickets to my first ever concert
