- Hey guys and gals, I get asked this question quite a bit and I wanted to give you my experiences with commuting on a motorcycle. This isn't a video to tell you that you SHOULDN'T commute, this is just MY experience and opinion on the subject. I know there are pros and cons to commuting on a bike, but for me personally the cons outweigh the pros. Thanks for watching! =)

What’s your take on the subject? 🚦 🏍
You guys are some weekend warriors. I jump out of bed at 5am like a kid on Christmas & crank her right up! Gear, lunch & all .
Riding my bike to work makes me want to go to work. Fun coming and going, not in between.
I wear a backpack with a change of clothes/underclothes in case I get soaked, lunch, 2-3 water bottles and a couple tools. Kinda heavy but hey, I work better when I ride my bike.
1. Weather unpredictable
I ride my bike to work & my work hours are flexible, The only prob is I never end up going straight to work & back home 🤪
Here is a different perspective... I love the daily 2 hrs of commute (including winter riding) and lane splitting adventures. For spirited stuff, I go to the track - doing twisties and touring seems really boring (and unsafe) after that. Commuting is kind of a guilty pleasure, something is always happening (there is always a fool in a family sedan or hot hatch trying to race you :D) and you have to think at least 1-2 steps in advance. It's the best training for defensive riding, and I still can have a lot of fun on my MT-09. I always ride in full gear with a Kriega backpack and change at the workplace (I keep the bulkier clothing under my desk). On a hot or wet day my gear has plenty of time to dry. My bike is fully insured and I lock the front and rear... Wouldn't give up commuting for anything else, TBH.
To each their own. I commute year round and have for years. I can't disagree with your points and understand those that won't or can't. To me riding is a big part of my mental health and I feel better riding then driving even on bad days. I've also commuted on bicycle up to 15 miles each way for years and the hassles are the same. I guess I got used to it. I've found it's nice to have a cheaper smaller second bike or scooter for commuting on instead of my nicer bike. You can't be to proud to do that though, and many are.
You are right about convenience, I just want to put my stuff in my car and go! Haha! I ride to work and all over town. I personally think danger is anywhere you ride, just more risk riding in town. Almost to 100k! 🙌
Always some great video....keep up the good work
These are all good reasons. The convenience is probably a biggie for me. Getting ready for a ride is a little big of a chore. But hey, I’m retired living in California on the coast. No complaints. 🏍💙👊🏽
I ride all year round unless there is snow or black ice on the ground. I always bring a backpack with me, and can fit my bike cover, a jacket, and even riding pants all in it when it's over 80 degrees. Helmet, gloves, and boots are a must. Lock your tire up with a disc brake lock, cover it, and that's all it takes to keep your bike safe. Screw everyone else, ride til you die. Why else did you get a bike if you're not gonna ride it whenever you can? And if rain scares you, you must be the Wicked Witch of the West or something... just silly
Commuting on a bike is worth it for me. I live in California and since we can lane split, any amount of time I spend putting on gear is easily saved from less time in traffic. Easily worth it for me.
Agree 100% almost got into a accident in NYC going 80 mph on a highway when some altima thought it would be a good idea to merge into my lane with me in it, I just thank god I had ABS and didn't panic. After that I saved up and got me a 2005 infiniti G35 for commuting, and now I solely ride my motorcycle for fun, instead of commuting. Stay safe salt!
Hey bud really enjoy the information.
Congrats dude!! That’s so awesome!
For me the worst part of commuting is that I'm always wearing the same few things all the time. It's more of a fashionable lady problem, but sometimes I love when it rains and I don't ride to work because then I get to wear something fun!
I ride to work sometimes 1 at most 2 days a week weather permitting. Those days I will go out with buddies to lunch. Works for me I'm a mechanic so I have everything i need at work.
Since my town isn't really that big going about 6 or so minutes from the house isn't that bad and I only need to bring lunch and my job is fenced in so you can't really get through without an id or parking pass. Unless it suppose to rain that certain day or week then I take my truck
Exactly why I don't ride to work, convenience, lol. Have to wake up earlier, just to pull my bike out and put all my gear on. Especially being a diesel mechanic I don't want to put my helmet on after getting oily and greasy all day.
