Nice to see a review not paid for by Toyota or swayed by Toyota loyalists like 4WD Action. Looks like a reasonable assessment with pro's and con's for both.
As a reviewer your job is to be "Unbiased", clearly in your presentation, your heart shows through toward the Home brewed Holden and that is just not good reviewing.
Thanks for this review! I think the SR5 and the Z71 are definitely the choice if you can't afford a Wildtrak like me but still want a top range ute. Having a comparison between the two is a great choice and very helpful. Both awesome vehicles and well priced. I am sold on the hilux because of the interior where I'll be spending most of the time in and also its off road capability. The exterior of the Colorado looks nicer though and it has more power. So it's a very hard choice but can't go wrong if you go with one or othe other.
Trailblazer & Colorado are built as strong SUV & Ute in fact they are BIC. However, the problem is the "after sales market" in ASIA. After warranty, you cannot find the parts easily in the auto parts supply shops and this will have a big concerned to the customers. The quality, performance & safety are very good. Unlike Toyota the customers can have the parts available at once anywhere esp. in the Philippines, even if you go to the provinces, they are available. If GMC and FORD, these american car makers for after sales market will follow the same approach as Toyota, then Toyota will be scared of them. 3 things I observed like FORD cars, the parts so expensive compared to Japanese cars. For ex. 1. The AC compressor, the magnetic clutch, stick bearing and the motor compressor, if one of them broken, you have to replace the whole assembly and this costly, unlike Toyota if the stick bearing or magnetic clutch, then you can replaced that particular parts and not the whole assembly. 2. The power side mirror of FORD, if the lens is broken you cannot buy that lens to replaced it, you have the whole assembly. 3. The radiator fans, if it rotates abnormally, you have to replace the entire assembly and this is costly because it is sealed type, unlike toyota you can replace the silicon oil only and its very cheap. I have no idea with GMC on their Trailblazer and Colorado if they are the same with FORD. That's why the customer needs and satisfaction were meet by Toyota and I believe this is the reason why they became powerful in the market. You will notice that Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, ASEAN countries, Toyota is leading as no.1 in the market in terms of sales. I am not saying that Trailblazer and Colorado are not good, they are one of the best. But many customers are more concerned on "after sales market". You cannot apply american culture on after sales market here in ASIA. Why? because their labor rates are so expensive. So replacement of entire assembly is necessary for them unlike ASIA market where labor are cheap. Why would I buy a complete assembly of power side mirror if only the lens is broken? Meaning do not apply american after sales market in ASIA. It cannot be possible.
For the value, Colorado all the way!! And in the americas is known as Chevrolet Colorado or Chevrolet S10 (Brasil) you can see them in de Amazonas cruising like nothing
For those (as well as the poster) the Colorado makes use of a helical LSD. If you do just a a little bit of research you may find the Helical (Torsen) diff to be as good (if not better) than a standard locking diff. Good video to explain :) ruclips.net/video/JEiSTzK-A2A/видео.html
omg there both epic trucks and i have no idea wich to choose i think i gotta go for the colorado as i am not going offroading every 2 months maybe once or twice a year. even witht that said i still cant take my eyes of the hilu
Hilux all day long. Chevy lost their right to exist when they were bailed out by the American taxpayer under threat of force by our own government. Not something that I'd expect to bother Australians quite as much, but think about the lack of quality you're going to be getting from a company like General Motors in that regard.
Evan S. The right direction isn't good enough. They still are and always will be a government owned, taxpayer supported, Commie shitbox factory. It will be several generations before that's forgotten.
The holden lacks alot of internal comfort features also. There are no a/c vents for the back , there is only 1 usb point and its hidden in the center console , only 1 usable drink holder unless you have cans then you can fit 2. The center area is compact and theres no place to put your phone etc . The hilux has a cooler box. 7 cup holders overall, ac vents, bag holders etc etc . Better for long trips and better family car
Mike D I disagree, my 2015 SR5 tows better then my old 2012 ranger 3.2ltr thanks to the hiluxs peak torque kicking in at 1500rpm, has more tec then I need, saving $50-$60 bucks on diesel a week, comes standard with a diff locker, capped servicing at $180, and it's reliable compared to the 3 engines, blown turbo hose and gear box the ranger went through in 70000kms, mates 2015 Colorado has also had a massive list of warranty problems, anyway I think the hilux is the best of a bad Thailand made bunch of utes.
Colorado has LSD limited slip diff and it preforms better then Hilux because locker on Hilux disable TC in front so you are actually better with no diff lock.
Hilux is not that good.I own one. Unreliable gutless heavy on diesel and constantly having 4wd ,diff lock , engine sensor problems. Been back to toyota many times. Same issues keep happening every time the car is used on corrigated dirt roads. Hopeless to tow with. Not looking forward to the running costs once the warranty runs out. Had the previous model with 3.0 litre diesel engine, had no issues after 7 years and the car is still going strong. My 2016 model is a pile of rubbish.
Agreed 100%. Hilux is legendary and one of the higest 4x4 performer. I like the Colorado in terms of its performance but the after sales parts & service in the Phils. really sucks. Hope GMC should grip a hand on that problem. right now Chevrolet Phils. is no. 8 on the sales but Toyota still 15yrs. of consecutive top leading no. 1 on 43% market shares, followed by Mitshubishi as 9.42% market share and on the 3rd is FORD which 7.43% shares. GMC wake up, kick your after sales service and parts butt. Otherwise, your buz will closed. You have the BIC in Colorado & TRailblazer but if you will not take a look on your after sales, mind you, your business will go.
They only build 4 cylinder trucks to try and beat the Hilux, they never will beat the hilux, even pros prefer a Tacoma over other brand v8 trucks for off roading
No Diff lock -- lacks traction off road, interior poor, Colorado is a cheaply finished car. Colorado is not in the same league as Hilux and Ranger (the King). Holden has a history of its imports being less than average like the Captiva, Cruze and the Daewoo Barina. Holden has no right selling Trade vehicles - these guys need reliability.
Big thanks to Holden for continuing to market and sell this oil drinking lemon - No help to those who did believe that they were buying a quality vehicle, and no warning for new customers - 4X4 should be ashamed to plug this lemon, no integrity what so ever.
the new hilux actually looks fucking hideous. absolutely terrible design, which is probably why I'm not going to get one. seriously, it looks like one of those hybrid vehicles that double as a boat. and Fucking triangle tail lights? come on...
billy mutt nah see taking that angle wont work for a comeback mate, not 12, probably been driving 4x4 when you were still just a smile on your daddys face.
dad just brought the colorado, and its amazing, real good off road aswell
How’s that Colorado doing now ??
If you don’t reply I understand why. It can be quite embarrassing
@@Jiggy02 damn 🤣

Colorado's a bit more expensive but i have been with holden for a long time now hands down to holden Colorado,
As a reviewer your job is to be "Unbiased", clearly in your presentation, your heart shows through toward the Home brewed Holden and that is just not good reviewing.

Awesome Holden Colorado this truck is a Beast

They are holden not gmc.
have you got a review of the new hilux with the v6 engine?
Hilux. Holden isn't really known for its reliability or fuel economy, so that comes into factor.
Toyota is best brand of cars
No one can beat Toyota
Engine is quiet
Car is stable
and lot more
i wanna loud engine baby!!
Extremely overpriced which is a major factor
Does your colorado not come with the Eaton Mlocker (G80) auto locking rear diff like it does in North America?
Patrick Rich yeah. No locking rear diff. It has a Helical LSD.
Tom Fanshawe that suck's. I love the G80 in mine.
Squishysforbreakfast yeah. We have a helical LSD. Pretty good. But wish had the G80 when the going gets tough. I don't own one but have driven one.
Hilux is better. it's already been a long time and the people best choice.
The G80 is awesome
Hilux with out a doubt
still prefer the hilux all in all a great ute :)

I'm sorry.. I thought he said "4 dickheads" from the beginning.. 😂

Evan S. That's an understatement.

colorado
Colorado very nice
Resale value on the hilux is leaps and bounds ahead of any ute on the road
It's called clever marketing, its underpowered and lacking features.

All that money and no rear diff lock? Hilux wins
Holden is better
Is that why today more old Hilux utes are running around today than old Holden Utes.
Here in the states when Colorado first came out , they had to rebadge them Isuzu to sell them. Originally Isuzu design !
Toyota
on social they hates hilux but in real life you see Hilux everywhere the most it's strange
Colorado all day😀
Colorado has LSD limited slip diff and it preforms better then Hilux because locker on Hilux disable TC in front so you are actually better with no diff lock.
colorado is the best
Does chevy and holden are the same
yep
Brent Sleeper Holden is Gm so yeah pretty much the same
What happened to the audio
It's bipolar
Hilux is not that good.I own one.
Unreliable gutless heavy on diesel and constantly having 4wd ,diff lock , engine sensor problems.

Does the Colorado still burn oil?
GMC Colorado after sales service and parts are so expensive and the service is very poor. toyota HIlux is still no. 1 in the market.
how about Nissan navara ?
Well that new torque converter is crap last 50000 ks has to be replaced.
Colorado is the best
Nothing can beat a Hilux and nothing will. love the Hilux.
Pretty much all the competition will.
youre right, its just an over glorified truck that was only reliable years ago.
doodskie999 well said.
The Descriptions Yep i agree 100%, there's a reason why Isis and the U.N use Toyota's

Colorado I dont know which to choose
hulix the best

toyota hilux the best

Actually, the Captiva, Barina and Cruze were made in australia since 2010.
Colorado has more power and safety features
i feel sorry for u bro,in 2017 and still riding a grandpa's truck
+John Mustafa k tsk hilux stability is the worst almost flipped over in tight turns totally unsafe and unreliable.
What the hell is a HILAX
But Chevys break, Toyotas are invincible
Every car breaks. Holden, Nissan, Mazda, Even Toyota. Every car has it's golden age and every car has the day when it dies
I like the Colorado
Golden Colorado
Hilux
Big thanks to Holden for continuing to market and sell this oil drinking lemon - No help to those who did believe that they were buying a quality vehicle, and no warning for new customers - 4X4 should be ashamed to plug this lemon, no integrity what so ever.
Auto expert. John saids .. this is what happens when dickheads do reviews . See.. dont say you were not told.. 🙂
colorado hands down
Colorado is for guys who like young beauties with a big rack. Hilux is for guys who like a woman who can cook and clean.
the new hilux actually looks fucking hideous. absolutely terrible design, which is probably why I'm not going to get one. seriously, it looks like one of those hybrid vehicles that double as a boat. and Fucking triangle tail lights? come on...
Hilux much much better
Wrong. Spoken like an un-informed fanboy.
Mike D I spoke like that on purpose. go drive your Colorado and get bogged
billy mutt i dont drive a Colorado, but facts are facts, doesn't matter if you don't like it, fanboy.
Mike D oh that's right you don't drive at all cause you are a 12 year old keyboard warrior
billy mutt nah see taking that angle wont work for a comeback mate, not 12, probably been driving 4x4 when you were still just a smile on your daddys face.
Colorado was the best than hilux
Colarado
Colorado is better
Hilux might be the king but chevy will always be the king of kings
Its no Chevy most of it is ISUZU
Low IQ i see.. another opening his big mouth with no research..
love colorado!hilux is bad
hulix is would known and it last longer than any car
Colorado and the ranger is the best!!! Hilux and Dmax is dead
I have to agree Hilux is dead but Dmax is still very much alive and still a great truck, unlike Hilux.
sorry hulix is best than ford or demax
Who cares 😂
Forget Colorado and Hilux. Buy a real TRUCK. RANGER BABY!! RANGER
Ranger has been a nightmare in my country. Blown turbo, faulty piezo injectors etc
Chevy with more power and hilux with their unbreakable reputation..Ranger with their.....Highest price truck?
HILUX OR RANGER !!! NO HOLDEN OR CHEVY , SORRY !!!
Fucking ugly hilux
colorado
Colorado better
colorado
colorado
colorado
colorado
