    Excellent review sir, Well done. My edc is a full size Usp 9mm V1 with a match trigger installed . The difference is very pronounced and makes the weapon that much more easier to shoot accurately. For me its a must upgrade if one is planning to EDC this german powerhouse )) No other sidearm inspires confidence quite like the venerable USP.

    Thanks again, Eric. I've read that the standard LEM trigger pull is very smooth, therefore it does not feel as heavy as it measures. Has that been your experience, too?

      +Roy D Yes. But you should see the pull weight on my P30:

    I have a stock USP Compact and the trigger pull is more like 15#, changing the hammer spring for a Wolff unit. The recoil spring is quite a bit heavier than necessary as well but the unit is still NIB.

    how much does it cost hk to put a screw behind the trigger, they could have done that for all of the triggers. cause the combat trigger breaks very clean as well, only need the over travel stop

    My new USP9T is breaking at about 5lbs in SA. After reading a couple reviews and watching your vids I was expecting 3.5....However HK just wrote me today and said this is normal and they do not have a trigger with a 3.5lb pull. The manual claims a 4.5lb break which may very well happen once its broken in but, am I missing something...how are you getting #'s that low?

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  8 лет назад +2

      I figured in this video I had about 4k rounds on the trigger in my USP-SD. There is something to be said for a broke-in trigger. However, my P30 had a much heavier "light LEM" trigger than advertised. I've also noticed variations in the listed pull weights on HK pistols is different versions of the manuals. I bet if you called and spoke to 3 different gunsmiths at HK you'd get 3 different answers. Give yours some time and I bet it will lighten up. Thanks for watching.

    My understanding is that the USP Expert trigger is adjustable- is this just for the travel distance, or does this adjust the trigger pull weight also?

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  3 года назад +1

      It's just the over-travel screw. The pull weight isn't adjutable, but with the match triggers (all USPs with the match trigger, not just the expert) the take up is smoother and the break is different so they feel much lighter than they really are.

    I realize that this video is old, but I was wondering why he was starting the double action trigger pull weight at the half cocked position instead of the fully uncocked position. Can anyone let me know the reason behind this? I know that the difference between the trigger pull in the completely uncocked position is almost the same as the half cocked position, but it is different, regardless of how little the difference is. Again, if anyone knows the reason for this, could you please let me know? It’d be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  2 года назад +5

      The half cocked position is the position the gun is in if you chamber a round and use the decocker. The only way to get a loaded USP in a fully uncocked position is to pull the trigger and ride the hammer with your thumb = not safe.

    • @-Jame-
      @-Jame- 2 года назад +2

      @@FirearmTutorials I didn’t even think about decocking the weapon after chambering a round when carrying it and / or using it for home defense. I’ve only handled one at the range, but, if I were to carry one and / or or use one for home defense, decocking it and using the safety after chambering it would be the only way to go. Now I understand why you were doing the trigger pull from the half cocked position. Thank you for such a quick reply and explanation. I appreciate it.

    Nice video. I am looking at getting the USP 9mm full size. I plan on installing the match trigger and cerakoting the the cradle FDE. I love the jet funnel mag well. Do you know if they sell 10rd jet funnel magazines?

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  10 лет назад

      They do not. Only 18 rounders. Thanks for watching.

    • @johndeere1951a

      Jet Funnel is for use with only 18 Rd magazines. Remove the Jet Funnel to use the smaller cap magazines. Just one Allen screw,

    It seems the variants differ depending on which HK model gun it is. In your opinion, is the LEM Light trigger too light for a carry pistol? I'm interested in getting a P2000SK LEM in 9mm. The heavy LEM is readily available, but the light LEM is hard to find. Thanks for your advice.

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  8 лет назад +2

      light/match LEM are too light for my like as a carry gun. Heavy LEM (v7) is a good carry gun trigger but not a great range trigger. standard LEM is more the sweet spot.

    • @TheBoxingCannabyte

      Think the V2 LEM (7-8.5lb pull I believe) for the P2000 is a good 'un? I had to carry Glock for a long time and the Colt Commander (And the MK 23) in the military. The Lem Trigger is really interesting to me. I already put money down on one in .40 (doing a .357 sig converstion methinks but even thugh I prefer 9mm and .45 I just couldn't pass it up for the price and figured one .40 in the collection couldn't hurt esp with a .357 sig conversion! heh...)
      Anyway, thanks for the video!

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  3 года назад +1

      The SA/DA match is probably my favorite because the SA pull is so short. I've hit out to 100yds consistently using that one. The "match LEM hybrid" is a close 2nd though. Thanks for watching.

  • @Soupishome

    Do you have trigger reset trouble with the match trigger reset spring? I installed one in a v1 and lem and I didn’t feel confident in the reset. Sometimes it would hang up and I would have to push it forward. It did improve with dry fire but still was sluggish.

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  6 лет назад

      Soupishome I didn't have that issue, but a lot of people do.

    On the LEM I notice that you had to cycle the slide. on LEM triggers can you not just take the hammer back? This is a major concern of mine that im trying to use youtube to find out. I like the LEM trigger but feel its unsafe if the hammer can come back via your finger. If you can firm that you HAVE to cycle the slide it would be most appreciated

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  7 лет назад +1

      The hammer is flush on the LEM so I can't cock it with my thumb. It would also be extremely hard to catch that hammer on something. Even if you did, the catch would still prevent an accidental discharge. You still have dual strike capability with LEM just like a traditional hammer fired gun.

    • @TWITCH772
      @TWITCH772 7 лет назад

      Thank you very much, that is a huge help. I think i can finally make a decision and go get one. But just so I understand
      gun is safe > load a mag > pull the trigger; at this point even though the trigger would move the hammer back it should not hit the firing pin and fire the gun
      gun is safe > load a mag > slide > pull trigger and the weapon will fire

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  7 лет назад +1

      Anytime you pull the trigger the hammer will hit the firing pin. In the examples above, if you load feed a load magazine without chambering a round the gun would essentially dry fire.
      If you chambered a round, then pull trigger, gun would go BANG. The great thing about the HK guns is that if you were able to pull the hammer back manually and let it fly, it would not fire because trigger moves the catch to allow the hammer to engage the firing pin.
      watch this video for a better idea of how that catch works:

      i am looking to use my LEM as my carry conceal but i would like to convert to v1 or v3. what do you think the pull# would be on DA if i did the conversion? also i understand there are other internals that need to be swapped, is it expensive to do so? i have 3 CZ's all with decocker only (cz75d compact, p01 and phantom) so I've been trying to practice my first shot being DA. just wondering how they would compare or if i should leave as is.
      thank you.

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  7 лет назад +1

      There are kits to go from USP V1 to LEM. The pull weight will be determined mostly by the trigger reset spring and hammer spring. Hard to say exactly what the pull weight would be. My carry gun is LEM, but all my range guns are SA/DA. I started practicing shooting plate racks other steel targets in DA straight from the holster. Was really hard at first but after about 100 tries or so I can now hit an 8" from 15 yards away from a quick draw.

    Hey bud, have you ever only replaced the hammer spring?

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  8 лет назад

      +Mr NiceKnife I've heard some people replacing the blue hammer spring (standard on V1 fullsize) with the match hammer spring (metal colored) and I think it makes a slight difference.

    • @MrNiceKnife
      @MrNiceKnife 8 лет назад

      +FirearmTutorials .com thanks, I have a V1 I'm just on the fence about dropping over $100 just to loose a pound of pull weight, but I would like a better reset, I got spoiled with the Glock reset...

    • @FirearmTutorials
      @FirearmTutorials  8 лет назад

      +Mr NiceKnife If you talking about the match trigger, you'll get a lot more than reduced pull weight. The break is about as perfect as you can get on a handgun. Once i switched my USP from the standard V1 to the match I had to re-learn the trigger because it really was different. It's worth the money.

      +FirearmTutorials .com thanks, It's definitely on the want list, I just put a ggg rail and a surefire xc1 on it so the trigger upgrade will have to wait, I would like to get more rounds through it stock also, so far I've only shot 200 rounds through it, not a single malfunction though, love this gun.
