The king of the 40 cal...hands down!!
Augustus Heyliger true story
No doubt
I didn’t grow up with guns. Had one Lib parent that didn’t allow them in the house. Bought a USP 40 as my first ever gun because I wanted the best of the best immediately. Just got myself a VP9 9mm to add to the family. If you care about the best and you are fairly ignorant like me. You can’t go wrong with HK. Thanks for the great review.
Wow, from 0 to 90mph! Good for you!
Happy to see you are enjoying the shooting sports. You are correct as you cannot go wrong with HK. No bones about it. Other options you may enjoy in my humble opinion for pistols are Walther, CZ, Glock, Dan Wesson, Ruger and Springfield. For revolvers Smith & Wesson and Ruger are great options.
The USP Series in all forms and calibers are perfect.
False
jeremy beverly explain why you say false! Inquiring minds wanna know.
The triggers bro. Other than that 👌
Hows the 40? I can get usp full 40 $500 like new
E Norris where
If anyone watching this video is considering purchasing a .40 s&w, the HK USP 40 is the ultimate model for that particular caliber. Just do the research and you'll see what I mean.
I’m trying to find a USP 40 full size and it’s proving quite difficult to track one down. I’ve found plenty of USP 9 and 45 models, even the rare ones like the Expert and Elite. I heard rumors that HK discontinued the USP 40, but that doesn’t make sense as it’s still listed on HK’s website.
@@bucknasty69 pretty sure I already asked, what you willing to pay?
I have the USP 40, USP 45, and a HK 45 Compact Tactical. I have always loved the 40 s&w round and carried it during my career in LE in both the Glock 22 and the Sig 229. The HK was built for the round and is, as you so expertly pointed out, the perfect gun for it.
I have one, too. I have both this gun and a Beretta PX4 Storm .40. I made two great choices. I recently shot each one side by side at an outdoor range and ...they were both very accurate and very reliable. I love them both.
The USP in my opinion is still the only Handgun designed to fire .40, NATO 9mm and +P .45 for constant diet. No other pistol can handle as much pounding without frame damage or parts breakage.
Subgun Snake FACTS
Hi point jhp 45 in 45 acp out performs this all day long.
@@Man-jf6lz What?🤣🤣🤣
Couldn't of said it better. You did forget to say no gun can do it sexier than a usp. I think luger and cz75 and sar cm9 gen2 in that order are up next
450/400 Man You are delusional. Comparing a hi point to an HK is like comparing a Geo Metro to a Lexus LX. They both do the job, but one is far better in every aspect. Clown.
Something I have to mention as a former MSGt of German Air Force, we had the H&K USP in 9 mm as our standard service pistol called " P8 " , Police in Germany is in some areas using P10, a shortened version of the P8. I am member of a Gun club and firearms permit holder using a USP Match 2 tone in . 45 Auto. Big advance as we are allowed only 2 frames and infinite barrel and slide - assemblys: On a .45 USP - frame fits everything USP. Save a lot of money buying a . 45 for competition and an additional- in my case USP Elite , - barrel and slide - assembly in 9 Para for cheaper training. Even a . 22 LR is availiable from 3. party.
What a great overview of the USP, best ive seen. And yes, it is an incredible firearm.
This HK is king of all DA/SA 40’s hands down, and im not a huge sig fan but the sig p226 is also great because of the ease of change to 357 sig and also it weighs a good amount to handle recoil well.
CZ has entered the chat
Had mine (V7..LEM) for over 15 years, and it's been a favorite. In my opinion, it's the finest .40 S&W pistol ever made!!! I didn't know the H&K USP 40 ever had polymer magazines! I have 5 10 round and 5 12 round magazines, and all of them are metal!
I didn’t know there was metal mags
Got one today I love the grip it’s really comfortable for people that have big hands
Thank you for the depth of the review man. I just paid for a usp .40 at a pawn shop for $750 + the fees. Havent picked it up yet, unfortunately I live in a state with a waiting period. Cant wait to shoot it.
The internals and extractor coloration you mention is NOT oxidation. It is a proprietary Dow Corning coating that protects it particularly well during salt water test.
The H&K USP IN] 40 S&W is an excellent sidearm. The biggest issue in my mind is the poor selection of full power ammunition. Unfortunately the 40 S&W is mostly out of favor and the ammunition providers have hurt the load because of some early concerns with the 10mm recoil and control. Given the size (full size) and grip, full power loads are most desirable.
The Buffalo Bore 155gr is very stout. Underwood Xtreme Penetrator 140gr is also good.
40S&W/357 Sig is a potent combo. Fortunately, H&K still chamber for 40S&W. Sig, on the other hand, is just ignoring their customer base clamoring for P226/P229s in 40/357 Sig.
For my type of work I use an H&K USP 40 or a Glock 22.
SAVAGE308SNIPER THE USP40 OR THE USP40 NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT A GLOCK 22 THO
@@robosdrumworld I love the Glock 22.
SAVAGE308SNIPER Glock 22 is a great gun.
@@robosdrumworld Very!
I love and own both
If you want mag capacity get a jetfunnel with 16rnd Jetfunnel mags the jetfunnel will give you extra grip, bigger magwell for mag changes plus you get extra capacity jetfunnel mags.
Thanks going to check it out.
This gun with the match trigger kit is amazing, I have nothing but great things to say about my usp 40. Make sure to add some trijicons to it; makes a big difference
If it is so dark that your sights are glowing it is too dark to take a shot. Positive identification is first and foremost. Don't get wrapped up in the call of duty ideas that you can shoot indiscriminately
doitriteak they work in low light situations as well where there is enough light to accurately identify your target. If you're running a weapon light you can light up your target and still have the benefits of the night sight glow. In addition to that they have offerings with photoluminescent painted front outline which for some, like me, allows you to acquire that front post and get it on target faster. My preference is the orange.
@@doitriteak duh, but most shooting happen at night so it’s better than the stock sights to have. My USP saved my life a couple months ago. 3 men attempted to jump and rob me, had guns. Thankfully my sights let me aim right unlike them.
@@9000888sora I don't believe you. With a name like yours and also using 889976889 you totally lack credibility. Go do your homework.
@@paulhomsy2751 ok bud, I made this account when I was a preteen. I have 2 accounts for RUclips
I'm very happy with my USP 9. It's currently my favorite gun. (Don't tell my 92fs I said that.)
I'm telling, lol.
I have a question: does the safety “locks” the trigger like a 1911 or it “kills” it like a Beretta 92 and almost every DA/SA?
I think they use these in the Federal training school in New Mexico. Good video.
Watched the whole thing , good vid
Excellent review!
An Excellent Video, full of details and great information. Thanks !
I own a Glock in G40 (10mm) and installed an aftermarket .40 S&W threaded barrel in it. It is definitely overbuilt compared to the G22, more similar with the beefed up internals of this USP.
Glocks in .40 have a bad reputation for blowing up but I’m sure it has to do with hot reloads in an unsupported chamber that was designed for factory ammo, single use brass.
Good pistol better than any Glock !
Give that frame a scrub with a stiff brush & some dish soap/hot water. It'll look new.
Or solvent
Just bought a HK full size USP .40 . Thanks
for duty i carry a usp40 and have for years. no complaints.
I have the opposite problem, the pistol is on the small side. The lem trigger is nice but travel is too far and it breaks way too far back that I just can't keep it on target. Czs pistols fix that for me.
That reddish tint on certain parts isn't oxidation. It's an effect of the nitride finish on different metals over time after being exposed to heat.
Not what HK explained
@@doitriteak I've seen that happen to the extractor during a range trip. It's from heat. I have tossed my USP into salt water and left it for a week with no sign of rust.
According to James Yeager all 40’s destroy themselves, even guns designed specifically around the 40 s&w cartridge. He’s apparently on a super 40s&w rant since his channel came back. He’s a joke
Yeah well his trigger reset fixation and his other range theatrics he tries to program into his students doesnt help either.
Yea Yeager is a fuckin idiot.
James Yeager is a big basher of the .40cal. I admit I dont take the caliber seriously but I ain't really critical of the caliber like he is.
He thinks just because Glocks can’t handle 40 S&W that a gun like the mighty USP 40 can’t either. But, he’s a fool. Bottom line is that USP>any Glock.
@@Banshee365 Glocks handle the 40 cal just fine if you replace your springs.
Fact check: Standard 9mm and 40 operate at the SAME EXACT INTERNAL CASE PRESSURE (approx 36,000 psi). 9mm +P and +P+ drives pressures way up past 40 S&W. Period. Do the research.
Fact check? Okay Google👌
@@doitriteak Google, RELOADING MANUAL (any of them), common knowledge, or the guy down the street, Etc….the facts are the facts. 40 IS NOT HIGHER PRESSURE THAN 9mm. That’s a fact. Have a nice day.
When you leave the room, all sigh in relief. Another social justice warrior goes away
What’s your issue with being corrected? Are you above reproach? Besides, my original comment wasn’t directed only at you. It was intended as a broad correction of common internet regurgitation and inaccurate misinformation. Relax.
Its not a correction. Chamber pressure is not indicative of recoil forces. Barrel stress does not translate to frame stress.
I just obtained one recently, and I am smitten!
How is it?
E2daG 805 Great shooter. Everything you expect from HK.
@@mohawkdriver4155 thanks for quick reply...heres my dilemma. I can buy a like new hk usp 40 with 3 mags and holster for $520.
Or get the hk45 for $750
Or vp9 $550.
All are great. I love the usp series and want usp but i had a mp 40 i didnt like but im sure the usp 40 is a million times smoother scooter
E2daG 805 the full size USP in 40 S&W like mine is a very good shooter. You could close your eyes and choose and any one would be an excellent choice. It all comes down to what feels best.
@@mohawkdriver4155 yes 40 is full size...i plan to get all three but first im getting the usp because its such a beauty....
Can’t decide on 9mm or .40 s&w usp or p30. I did just pick up a p226 legion in 9mm. It’s a hard choice.
I have the USP 40 and I'd really prefer the 9mm. Way more controllable, more plentiful ammo choices. I have a 9mm P30 on the way to my LGS as we speak.
My first .40 cal pistol. It's an outstanding pistol.
Appreciate you mentioning small hands, I have the same problem with some guns 😆😝. Supposedly the USP compact is a little bit smaller grip so maybe that’s the way to go. Been considering a P2000 or P30 as well. Can’t decide.
I had a USP compact before and now a fullsize USP. Grips feel the same to me. I also have 3 P30s and they are definitely smaller on the grip. My hands are on the small to medium size as well.
@@jalcanites2939 cool thanks for the info! Which ones do you prefer to shoot? Trigger significantly different between the two?
@@DIYDad1I got the fullsize USP 3 weeks ago and haven't shot it yet. I gave my USP compact to my daughter about 5 years ago. Dry firing both, it feels the same to me as well. The big difference is on how they feel in my hands. The P30 just feels great in my hand. Among the 20 or so handguns that I have, the P30 feels the best in the hand.
@@jalcanites2939 awesome thanks for the info! Some people say the USP trigger is better but I guess that’s a bit subjective as well depending on who you ask. Been seeing quite a fe P30’s and P30sk’s around here lately but USP seems a lot harder to find, and a lot more expensive when I do see them in stock locally. Of course I want ALL of them some day 😁 just not right now all at once 😆. I know the VP9 grips are very comfortable to me so I’m sure the P30 will be good too. They look very close to the same.
@@DIYDad1 I got my P30L about 11 years ago. I got the P30SK last year, and the P30 earlier this year. My local gunstore is on my way and I pass by it everyday. Three weeks ago, I just stopped by to have a look and saw the USP. I know how difficult it is to find it. So I got it too. I paid about $300 more for the USP than my P30. Sadly, I had to sell one of my Berettas to afford the USP.
Great video...a lot of good info for consideration.
Is it tactical though?
Cuando dice nailon se refiere al plástico diseñado por por el químico loco
I am looking to sell mine It's the one that has the stainless steel slide What do you think is the going or fair price for a lightly used one??
$600-$700 if it's in good shape, and depending on the options
I have semi large hands. Is it only me but does anyone find the mag release touching your shooting hands middle finger>???
what state are you in?
What do you all think about the HK 357 SIG comparing to the HK 40?
Both fantastic. The .357 SIG has the edge in ballistics, but it's a good idea to have a .40 S&W barrel to ensure you can always find ammo.
Anyone have thoughts on which trigger?
I have both the .45 and .40 in v1 configurations. My .45 is my favorite sidearm, the .40 recoils smooth but the pyramids on the grip really dig in my hands while shooting. Not sure if it’s a difference in manufacturing or what but I’d love to find a solution to it without sanding the grip.
NC 1776 Gloves?
Cut a piece of bike's inner tube and pull it on to the grip... it works wonderfully.
I found one for 450 bucks at my local shop should I grab it ?
Hell yeah
No way too much but you already knew that. Derp
Really? Retail new is like 700 anyway I did buy it however I didn’t like it ended up trading it in
@@889976889 what didn't you like about it?
Yes, absolutely.
Did canik rip off HKs design?
No, they're copies of the Walther P99.
Try to relax more dude (in your net video....coffeeÉ heh)... A few things....the 'MK 25' is belongs to SIG :)) The ÈSIG P226 MK25'....youère thinking of the USP MK23....THREE// :)
...Being that you have 'size S hands' i would have gone with eiher the VP9 or PS30...since they have interchangeable grip pannles. Likely fit S hand the best. With the USP 45 youère still 'stretching'.....omething you donmèt want to happen epecially if you get into your first 'Defesnive ituation'...or een gripping the gun at the range. Getting the 'right gripÈ for yOUR hand i vital. So many guys out there buy guns for the wrong reasons e.g. aw it in the Collateral movie or in that video game....the ERGOèségrip fit is more important than so many other features of ANY handgun....if it doesnèt FIT.....e.g. walking around in shoes 2 sizes too lbig :))
Alaska is the best state 💯 I carry a Glock 19 or a Kahr PM9 bc I’m too broke to have nicer guns 😂 but I do got an ACRO waiting to get mounted to the G19 😎😎😎
The PM9 is pretty Gucci by Glock standards...
Probably an unpopular opinion but, I wish they made one in a nickel finish
They did make stainless slide versions. They look awesome.
MK 25? LOL
TMHonfire102 I was thinking the same thing lol
Think he meant mk23
Obtained a used USP40 with 5 mags for 600 flat. Also found the UTL for 100 lol
Good deal!
Got a used USP compact .40 LEM with a BD date code (2013) with 4 mags, Trijicon HD sites and a TLR light with laser for $600. For being a 2013 model, it looks unfired.

Got unsubbed somehow
USP is a great service gun, but Glock 19 is better. All "air-feds" are switching to 9mm Glock.
Why are you convinced that a government decision is made out of logic rather than cost savings and trying to save face and feelings. FBI admitted ballistic disadvantages were okay as long as their agents QUALIFIED. Their use these days is for quals, not fighting. New politics, new decisions.
@@doitriteak There have been studies for many years on the 9mm performance vs 40cal. FBI announced that they’re returning to the 9mm because of its technology and ballistics that makes it more effective than 40cal.But the biggest advantage the 9mm has over the .40 S&W is handling. One of the main criticisms of the .40 caliber is its kick. In fact, some people downright dislike the .40 S&W because they feel it’s underpowered for the amount of recoil the cartridge produces. The cost is another consideration, but definitely not the main one. US government has money.
That is all BS. The FBI even said the biggest reason they are switching to 9MM is just to get their agents to pass qual. The secondary thing is that they are not too concerned with the LOSS of terminal ballistic performance. They confirmed that there was a loss of performance, so you apparently dont know what you're yacking about
doitriteak I actually participated in my agency’s next weapon selection process. And we have higher standard of marksmanship than the FBI. The FBI agents simply would not pass out target requals. So I do know what I’m talking about.
Considering that the paper they published is in front of me and my experience with both in barrier testing and terminal ballistics, I'm going to have to say that I disagree with your opinion.
