This song is so beautiful and happy, yet so, so so depressing. When you listen to it, you just want to smile. But when you realize it was *THE LAST* thing Kurt ever recording before his death in ‘94, it makes you want to cry. Cry hard.
One of my favourites... It would have been a great opening for next album... Only by his guitar playing you can hear how he wanted to match drums etc., sick (in a good way).
Despite most nirvanas and cobains songs having relatively simple structure they we're able to elicit such profound emotions, which proves that a song doesn't have to be complex.
It was Kurt’s voice and just the way he was able to communicate emotions and angst. No one since him has been able to do it that way. My generation will always be listening.
The last known composition by Kurt Cobain -- also known as "Dough, Ray and Me" -- was first mentioned in a 1994 Rolling Stone interview with Courtney Love, although it didn't surface for another decade. Love's commentary on the song is cryptic, but it may explain the line that sounds like "if I may, cold as ice": "I had asked him after Rome" -- where Cobain overdosed and fell into a coma a month before his suicide -- "to freeze his sperm. So there's this whole thing about freezing your uterus." The song has only been heard as Kurt's acoustic home recording as "Do Re Mi," its title borrowed from the Sound of Music song about the musical scale (note that Kurt plays a descending scale after the chorus). Tuning: Detune the guitar 3/4 of a tone down. (-15 on guitar tuna app) Equipment used: Stella Harmony 1967 guitar Lyrics: And if I may And if I might Lay me down weeping And if I say, what is life? This Stella upgraded video makes more sense, The Stella makes the sound perfect for Nirvana songs Thanks Tom! (Ohh thanks for putting the tuna app tuning , you could put it on all videos, thanks again)
God, I'm so frustrated that there was never a complete studio version of this. A definite favourite of mine and so sad that it will never be fully realised by the original band members. That said, the amateur recording does kind of fit the song well and adds to the somewhat eerie and mournful atmosphere.
@@Tomnedreb btw thx for putting GuitarTuna app information man it really helped me u can put that info to your all videos too man that would be great thanks anyway stay safe man we love you
Thank You so much for this cover. I absolutely love this song - all the emotion, the feelings, the ambiguity of the lyrics... and the cover is great, as always!
I absolutely love this song and the lyrics. It’s also heartbreaking in that it gives a very strong indication of the direction of new material that was never to be and how great it would have been. There are some great vocal covers of this song out too. Great work my friend!

Best Nirvana cover and best music of nirvana, dude I have a ask, what the most important thing that I have learn on the guitar to be good at playing Nirvana songs? (Sorry for the bad English)
hey tom! great cover! i have a question. do you think one day you could do some kind of gear rundown? maybe show of some of ur amp settings? stay safe!!
If "About A Girl" was Kurt's version of a Beatles styled song, "Do Re Mi" sounds like his version of a Roy Orbison styled song. The melody and even the voice sound similar to Roy.
Hi I just found your covers and i think you're pretty freaking amazing at guitar Can you please do you know you're right in electric guitar? I love that song and I'm sure you'll nail it, you're covers are amazing I subscribed 💖 keep going you're really amazing
I agree with the people who think this sounds like a new beginning, and not a goodbye. I feel like it's considered a sad song because it's kurts last, but actually has happy intent. Or maybe I'm over thinking it. None the less, excellent cover with no errors!
that is song that always keep in my repertoire of nirvana acoustics songs, but my acoustic guitar is broke :( P.d the acoustic guitar was a spanish guitar
Hey Tom, HUGE fan. I have a 12 String H912 Stella on its way!! Would you mind clarifying the strings you have? Specifically what tension they are, and exactly what 5 strings you have on there? Did you (and Kurt?) take the normal 6 string approach and drop the bottom E?
Nice. I just bought a 68 Stella 12 string just like this one. In near mint condition! Gonna have my guitar guy set it up with 12’s for now but I’ll replace with nylons later. These vintage guitars were always recommended to be tuned down 1/2 step. Is that how Kurt had his with the nylon strings as well?
Hey Tomnedreb, have you ever been able to figure out unknown 3 from the Nirvana skidrow demo reharsal, anyways great video your guitar skills are awesome.
Most Underrated song nirvana song
Not most but very very underated
its kurts song not a nirvana song
I wouldn't call it a Nirvana song

Kurt Cobain acoustic solo album...
yea but nowadays the hype would not probably be the same as then, same happened to green day

Hi
Kompletnie się nie spodziewałem, że napotkam tutaj jakiegoś youtubera, (tymbardziej ciebie) lubiącego słuchać starych nagrań cobaina.
Despite most nirvanas and cobains songs having relatively simple structure they we're able to elicit such profound emotions, which proves that a song doesn't have to be complex.
Good songs usually aren't complex, tbh.
