Great stuff. I've just started to re-watch Carl Sagan's Cosmos, .. the sheer enthusiasm and wonder that Carl speaks about life and the wonders of the universe is humbling.
Thanks, that's a good way to express it. Any insights are welcome, I listen to people because I figure everybody must know something I don't. I'm curious about the Great Pyramid, there's something about it, some function that's not apparent as yet.
The men/women who wrote texts that define the existence of supernatural deities, were geniuses. Why? Because it was the only, and the best way to administer law at that time. We live at an age where those old laws are now useless because we have more than enough evidence to disprove almost all of it.
i had a argument with my friend about the universe and any question i ask him he say god did it and that made me stop believing in a lot of things because how he was answering the question i ask he sound brainwash he could not think for himself and this was with a lot of people i was just shock and when i say where is proof they say in books and i am like but books are man made how do you know they're real and he keep saying they are he sound like such a drone such a robot that it make me question my beliefs i do believe in god and science but i do not believe in religion i think for my self now.
Notre Dame doesn't give refunds to beloved students: the Lord created me at the beginning of His work. Ages ago I was set up, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water. When He established the fountains of the deep, when He assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command and when He marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside Him, like a master worker.
And does Mr. Planck care to tell us why we must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind? I mean, I could possibly find you a quote from Isaac Newton voicing support of alchemy - that wouldn't mean much when it comes to substantiation.
Why would you assume that? ”How it may be lawful and fitting to use falsehood as a medicine, and for the benefit of those who want to be deceived." -Eusebius of Caesarea "What harm would it do, if a man told a good strong lie for the sake of the good and for the Christian church ... a lie out of necessity, a useful lie, a helpful lie, such lies would not be against God, he would accept them." -Martin Luther Or perhaps the good nun had herself been fed a fib? What biographhy are we talking about?
Yes,the writers of ancient texts were very persuasive, strong, dominant and clever people. It was the best way to get your beliefs carried out by telling people you have to believe this or you will burn in hell forever. Some of us are more more switched on these days and can see through the dictator like attempts to continue this scam. There are millions who are still in fear of their religion " the wages of sin is death" and it is a sin to reject Jesus Christ. Freedom to be free is zero.
agnostic is the way to go people cause it is the only true answer at the moment. although i lean more towards a agnostic atheist i still find it possible for there to be a god just not any that we made up here on earth.
Agnostic: one who believes there is no way to know if there is a god Atheist: one who is not convinced by the lack of evidence that there is a god and so has disbelief in god. You can be both. They are not mutually exclusive.
"Agnostic" is simply a softening of the word "Atheist." It's a word people use when they don't want to admit they're atheists. I used it for a while too. The simple definition of atheism is lack of belief in any theistic philosophies like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and even Buddhism and Hinduism... although the last two are debatable considering they usually don't involve belief in a god. I know Buddhists who consider themselves atheists. Bruce Lee called himself a spiritual atheist. An atheist can be spiritual and consider the possibility of another world... but an atheist will never say they absolutely know. It's part of the wonder of having an open mind.... entertaining the mystery of it. If someone is "not sure," they clearly don't believe or have any solid conviction in a particular religion, therefore they are an atheist. Just accept it. More people need to embrace the term, and that will help get rid of the negativity surrounding it.
V no im an atheist but over all im agnostic u dont believe in any man made gods im not saying there couldnt have been some force to creating all of this im just saying i honestly dont no. but as of right now i dont really believe so. still open to the possibility tho.
SPACEMONKEY288 Do you believe in a "theism?" No? You're an "A-theist." A (non) - Theism (religion). Sorry... people love to twist these words around to fit what they want, but you can't ignore the definition of the word. Unless you are a BELIEVER in some sort of religion, you're an atheist. Period. Nobody can "know" whether there was or was not some sort of prime-mover in the universe... or whether some sky-genie really is watching us and keeping score. the fact that there has NEVER been any evidence to either piece of folklore is good enough for me. It comes down to belief. If you believe, you're a theist. If you don't, you're not. You're an A-theist. Accept it. I'm open to being proven wrong, as any reasonable person should be. I like surprises. But whether I THINK I know.... I'm not sure... it's a possibility... maybe.... none of those words constitute a solid belief. Being indecisive and open to possibilities does not hide you from the dreaded word "ATHEIST!!"
You cannot prove afterlife,,, without experiencing afterlife and then returning to tell everyone else. Therefore there is no afterlife. If we were created, then why were we created? That's the lock and there is no key, why, because it's impossible.
Uh-huh. Don't forget also in the same scenario: Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft will be the power source for the Eternal Holy Doughnut Factory (wand activation transmogrifies mundane batter) tailor-made to a person's favorites: a confectionary indulgence where your taste-buds become satisfied, you realize that you are surrounded by glazes, crushed nuts, and colored sprinkles - all your favorite toppings. You will either visit the Eternal Holy Doughnut Factory or be deprived forever!
Believe in whatever diety you want to believe in but for the sake of your god(s) ..do not lose your curiosity as a result. Nicely put..but there's an equally important problem with the few religious folks out there that is equally problematic..they use want to lead evidence toward their deity instead of letting evidence lead them to the truth
I'm not sure what quotes you're talking about. I guess you have a lot on your heart regarding all these matters, and about the substantiation of your claims. RUclips comment sections are clearly not the best forum to talk about things in-depth. My point is that it doesn't really matter who said what - Isaac Newton believed in alchemy and occult teachings. What matters is reasoned argument. Good luck with demonstrating to the world that a god exists. Such a demonstration has been lacking so far.

we dont need gods or any other kind of supervision! we are responsible for ourself and sooner the people realize that, the sooner we all will live in much better place..no need for religions or gods, just common sense
If God did not want us to find out, then he would not allowed us to develop such a powerful brain? We need to learn as much as possible, that is what Gods wants. Scientists make me laugh as they are so arrogant which sniffles the very thing they pursue.
Well obviously there's no fire, that would be ridiculous. What you have is a boiling lake of wasps and turds. The wasps sting you, you cry out in pain, making the turd go into your mouth, which makes you thrash around, which makes the wasps sting you, and so on. See you in church, chap.
Since I believe in Christ, guess I am dumb and ignorant, Thanks for pointing that out to me, Now I can know that is the reason we won't continue to have a conversation.
The same God that planted a tree of knowledge in a garden and then told his "creations" to not eat from it or they would surely die. Yeah, that sounds like he wanted humans to develop their brains.
You seem to confuse knowledge with intelligence. Reading prose books will give you information, and may make you more knowledgable in some field of inquiry, while intelligence has to do with logic, abstract thought, understanding, communication, learning, retaining, planning, and problem solving. The fact that you know things that I don't know is not at all an indication that my intelligence is lower than yours. Also, "God" is perhaps *the* most dark age notion that has ever existed.
The idea that there are gods is certainly common, but it's not sense. Snowflakes come about from a natural phenomenon. What's your next proof of "God", tides? The orbit of the moon?
You have a serious psychiatric problem if you are seeing and hearing things that are not there! I would urge you to at least get yourself checked out by a doctor. It can't do any harm. Unless, of course, you are just saying this all tongue in cheek and laughing at us!
Except that in this case, the "fire" you speak of is completely imaginary. For anyone to take you seriously, it would help if you gained the ability to discern fantasy from reality.
I am not watching a four hours long video of nothing but new-agey conjecture and hocum. It doesn't matter if the person who said it is a scientist. What matters is whether the claim in substantiated. Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence. What can be stated without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. By the way, quoting the Bible hardly helps your case.
You are completely mad. Maybe you have post traumatic stress disorder. Please, please get help! Unless of course, you are having a laugh in which case you are wasting our time.
Tyson; "The only 'ist' I am is a scientist." brilliant.
We need more people who think like him.
How simply stated; "I think for myself" says it all for me too, but this concept does seem to be difficult to impossible for many.
Great stuff. I've just started to re-watch Carl Sagan's Cosmos, .. the sheer enthusiasm and wonder that Carl speaks about life and the wonders of the universe is humbling.
Love your videos. Wish more people had an open mind. Keep them comming. And thanks!
Another great upload. Thanks Mr Wilson
My Hero!! I lovet this man - I would sit at his feet and adore him.
Thanks for posting!
Thank you for the upload, kudos

Hit the nail on the head.
"Science allows us to understand the world inspite of ourselves."- Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
Yeah!
Lovely.
Well stated.
Freedom to express intelligence will always be 100%.
That was awesome, their is so much for each of us to learn !! THANK YOU DR. DeGrasse TYSON !!
You have a great gift because you actually know what God wants.
Link us to your book when it comes out. It sounds like a hoot.
was this before or after he bit off Evander Holyfield's Ear
That was MIKE Tyson!
Frequency is a representation of sound, not vice cersa.
:S
who disliked this video.. i have absolutely no words for that.
NDT has a beautiful mind ...
See below for more wonders of the universe.
Amazing.

So it isn't actually a book? Can you give us a precis of your big bang theory? I am always happy to learn from one as intelligent as you.
which god? and how do you know what it wants?
And does Mr. Planck care to tell us why we must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind? I mean, I could possibly find you a quote from Isaac Newton voicing support of alchemy - that wouldn't mean much when it comes to substantiation.
This is gorgeous and as a believer in "God",I find it fair.
Why would you assume that?

Just like politicians.
it says 'be like children', and we all know children are ignorant and will believe anything any person in power tells them.
