Gorgeous singing and playing, bringing us closer to truth, light and life. For the millions of Jews and their fellow humans who stood up for them. May we all survive these dark times with the hope loaned to us by this divine music.
I meant to write for the millions of Jews "who were slaughtered in the Holocaust "
@@shirleyrombough8173 😢😢😢🙋♀️Good wishes from Switzerland
@@shalevedna Google translation says "artist" -- should be "Amen".

You don’t have to be a Jew to be touched by this beautiful “song”/prayer.
Max Bruch based his composition on this version not the other way round.
Kol hakavod lecha!
Those who bless the Jewish people will themselves be blessed. --Genesis 12:3
I'm touched to my soul by the beauty of this prayer. I'm not Jewish, but I don't have to be to be moved by this prayer/song. Thank you Hashem for the gifts you Blessed these men with.
Thank you, thank you, Mr Perlman and Mr Helfgot. Extraordinarily beautiful, and means everything to me.
The heavens weep with tears of joy and rejoice together to bring God, HaShem all the glory!

Incredibly beautiful - even on my mediocre laptop speakers, it grabbed my heartstrings.
Thank you.
Going to my first Yom Kippur tomorrow, very exited about being exposed to a forgotten piece of my families history.
to a nation that has withstood over 2000 years of oppression ,time stands still ,yom kippur is yesterday today and tomorrow ,in between we celebrate our happy days ,and shabbas is our best day
Mister Bundy: Your words are a great description of the reason for our existence today. There will always be those who need to hate. What they don't understand is...we WILL SURVIVE!
mister gold they don't want to see us survive ,their hatred is eternal, as is the eternal light in our synagogues, the light that never fades as the candles of the menorahshine in hope that one day all man kind shall see the lightof god and tell the difference between good and evil light and darknessblessed is he who separates them

Perleman is in the Zone. Almost more human than the superb Helfgot. This violin will go to heaven even without Perleman.
Right on.
I think Perlman will go with his violin in hand.
No one goes with anything down the “hole” but, Perlman’s violin will continue to play magnificently from another worthy talent, hopefully, forever...
No, Perlman has to be there to play it.
Itzhak you are the best!
Wow that's cool! And aww, same, i was nearly to tears too!! It was gorgeous!!

Fabulous music. Great Singing and playing!!
Yes, in Barclay's! It's a pretty amazing venue, from the outside it's amazing, you should look it up! But I didn't think the inside was too big! But the concert, PERFECT!! I had floor seats, i was so close!

thank you so much for share this one Meister Perlman.
Todah rabah
Each year I scout the voice and instrumental posts because it's so beautiful. This is my favorite version. To hear this magnificence--having missed it last night--I endured an ad for 'grand theft auto'! Nothing much in the scope of historic persecutions, but hardly targeted marketing!
Exquisite!
goes to the soul
what is there to say- amazing.

Wow, this looks like folk music from northeast Brazil. Its unbelievable! 2:00 to 2:14
And 2:27
Its unbelievable! We have songs so close to this one
The scientist say we have a very amount of jewish and arab ancestry here in northeast of Brazil. There are a lot of weird coincidences here: we dont use coffins to bury the deceased people: we just wrap them in a white sheet, we use rocks, not flowers, above the deceased people on cemeterys. We do not eat pork on friday night. Some words are very close to hebrew and arabic: mezura (came from mezuzah, and means "to respect a house"). Salamaleqe (identical to shalom aleichem or salaam aleikum). Albissora or alvíssaras (good news, besorah and bissura in arabic)
Perhaps from Conversos from Spain
That's really interesting. I am going to try to learn more about all of these connections in your country. It may be that Sephardic Jews came to Brazil thousands of years ago. And brought some of their culture and language.
@@shirleyrombough8173 it would have been hundreds, not thousands of years ago.

Emocionante ....
Oh, i understand, and i agree as well! I'm sorry for being so curt, i realize that i was the one being judgemental. I just hate seeing people regard others as less then themselves, or viewing themselves as cleaner, better, holier, etc. then others.
At the Barclays Centre in NY? Please post tomorrow and tell me all about it. I saw an article in broooklynpaper (you can google it) about tonight's concert. Even Cantor Helfgot is awestruck by the size of the venue!
The melodies both before and after the Kol Nidre are very beautifully rendered. Does anyone know what they are? The second one seems to be an old nigun, but I can't place it.
pretty neat
why do you call it a music VIDEO
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Die Hoffnung ; Hatvika für Israel
Kol od ba-lewaw penima -
Nefesch jehudi homija

Od lo awda tikwatejnu
Ha-tikwa bat schnot alpajim:
Lihjot am chofschi be-arzenu -
Erez Zion wi-jruschalajim.
RainyMood anybody? :)
The song was written by Max Bruch
Bruch actually wrote his Adagio based on the Kol Nidrei
This has been in existence hundreds of years before Max Bruch was born.
Lyrics? Anyone?
I assume that impossible to translate those original ancient lyrics. Unfortunately.
Allahu akbar!
+Raptor Jesus LOL :-D
Must...invade...Palestine...
MY HEART IS OPEN, I AM FEELING THE BEAUTY OF THE JEWISH SOUL. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR MUSIC. MR. PERLEMAN, AS A CHILD OF SURVIVORS, AND A CHILD BORN IN A DP CAMP IN GERMANY. I FEEL EVERYTHING.

Broke into tears of joy
The Tenth day of the 7th month (Tishrei) on the Jewish calendar. It is the Day of Atonement (best translation of the word Kippur). It is one of the four great holy days of the 7th month all mentioned in Leviticus 23 (1st of Tishrei: Rosh HaShanah or Day of Shofar blowing, 10th of Tishrei: Day of Atonement, 15th of Tishrei: 1st day of the 7 day Feast of Tabernacles aka Sukkot, and the 22nd of Tishrei: The 8th day, the Festival of Cessation to end a month full of feast and fast days.)

I’m sure you meant well with your kind words ,but, 99%of the readers can’t understand your message here.
Shana Tova lecha...
I think most of Christians would have understood. That's less than 99% then! :)
All you need to do is to read the Bible. It's a book like any other about HIS-story and the history of a people - the Jews.
Close your eyes, breath slowly ,enjoy. What peace I will add this to my collectionThank you for sharing
What is there to say. The haunting melody of our people. We pray to Hashem.
Welcome home! I made the same journey back in 1976. I now live in Israel with my wife. We have two beautiful children, one grandchild and two on the way.
My favorite version of Kol Nidre is actually in the Jazz Singer 1927, about 10 minutes in.
Beautiful
Tears - every time I listen to this.
Me too.
