On occasion after rehearsals on Thursdays around 1978 or 1979 at St Stephen's now Cathedral on Jogo road back in the day , we walked home to eastleigh sec 7 in a group sometimes depending on the location of one's home. Those days Nairobi commuting was predominantly by yellow Kenya bus service. We opted to walk to and from rehearsals though. If you were lucky to walk with Chriss Sikuku and others, he would be singing or humming and making necessary revisions of a rendition or multiple verbiage revisions or tunes! His brain was totally immersed in gospel compositions. He was actually fun to be with! There was a composed biblical play of Nabachadnezar and Daniel. Some choristers after practice were rehearsing the roles as either Daniel, Shedrack, Mesech and Abdinego. That Nabachadnezar play was performed at a Nairobi theater whose name i cant recall, and I'm quite sure there is a recording preserved somewhere growing dust. It's understandably a different generation now but it's simply utter joy knowing that the renditions by Directors Sikuku and Mbela are still in productive use!! Mubarikiwe sana naMungu!
