Sam, I just bought my canon Pro-300 printer yesterday and your awesome video got me up and running. Thank you so much for your help. I will watch your other videos as well!
I got pro 300 and I didn’t use it yet it’s sitting in the box 😎 but in couple of days I’m going to make my first print too! Nice video by the way great discovery of your channel!
Just purchased my Pro-300 and enjoyed your video. My prints look great but I can't figure why center is way off left to right even though I have alignment set to center. Left margin is always much larger than right. What am I doing wrong here? Lightroom Classic and Mac OS 14.6.1. Wasting time, ink and paper trying to figure it!
Hi! Thanks, pretty useful and will continue following your videos. I've already printed with a Smooth Rag Hahnenmuehle in black and white and it was awesome, now I'm going to colour, but had some stuff with Lightroom, so that's how I got to your channel. Regards from Mexico. =)
Cool, thanks for checking out the video. If you can get Fotospeed paper in Mexico it would be worth checking out the Signature range. They may be better priced than the Hahnemuhle paper but do an equally great job. Enjoy your printing :)
Thanks for the helpful information. Do you use a monitor calibration tool such as Spyder X Pro? Just got my Pro 300 and setting it up on my iMac 27inch 5k but wondering if I need to invest in one of these calibration tool's to get the best out of the printer?
Yes I do recommend that - The Spyder X Pro is a great little tool and it's paramount to getting the best prints. I regularly calibrate my iMac to ensure it's up to date. If the screen is calibrated and you have custom ICC profiles your print will look as close to the screen version as it ever can. The X Pro are available via: fotospeed.com/datacolor-spyderx-pro.html
Great video. Had major issues with the image size borders that essentially stopped me from using it. This is promising, however, I have some really basic issues now like my printer does not seem to recognize the A3+ paper in the manual feeder. I find this printer so fiddly it is maddening.
Question… Just set up my Pro 300, and I am wondering do I have to close the Canon plug-in (LrC) each time I want to print a different image, and then re-open to print the new one?
Hi,thanks for these videos on this printer, very helpful.Quick question, why do my prints come out darker than they look on the computer? I’m printing on the canon pro lustre paper. Many thanks.
Hi Martin, this is a very common question. 9 time out of 10 it is due the the screens brightness being too high. There will always been a slight difference especially if you are on a MAC. I hope that helps, Tim
I have produced a video on this the link is below. Makes a small difference in practice. Tim ruclips.net/video/tMzfGAmxsTE/видео.htmlsi=1-6DmM3aL2Dwa3tK
Hi - Tricky to advise remotely on the cutting off situation but if correct paper size is selected on the print module and the printer it should be ok, may depend if you're printing to the border or not. A few too many variables to troubleshoot remotely without seeing the set-up I'm afraid. In terms of the matching of screen to print: 1) First advice is to make sure you're screen is calibrated - Fotospeed did a good video about doing this with a Spyder X Pro. Without a calibrated monitor you'll always have an issue: ruclips.net/video/9a56u2B4qeU/видео.html 2) If the monitor is calibrated, the next step is to use a specific profile for the type of paper you're printing on. Either a generic profile for that paper from the supplier, or better still a Custom ICC Profile which is made specifically for that paper and that printer. Fotospeed offer this service for free when you buy any of their paper. If the screen is calibrated, and you're using a profile for that paper, there should be no reason for the screen and print not to match as near as possible (assuming no malfunction with the printer and assuming the correct official inks are being used). There is of course always a difference in viewing an image on a backlit illuminated screen vs on paper, but the colours etc will all be ok if the 2 steps above are done correctly. Hope this helps a little. Thanks for checking out the video. Sam
@@SamGregoryPhotography Thank you so much. As novice as I sound, I had the incorrect size selected (of course) because I'm using a 8.5x11 paper and I had the one that said 8.26x11.8. I just read the numbers wrong! As far as the colors go, I'm going to watch this tutorial now. Thank you so much!

Thanks for a clear video helping me get going with Canon’s Professional Print and Layout on my new Pro 300 printer, but I need clarification on something that you did not address in the print process. At the point in PP&L, you select “Media Type,” the available options all reference Canon papers. When printing with another brand paper, how do you determine which Canon-type media best aligns with the one you’re using. For example, I’m printing on Hahnemuhle Glossy Fine Art Baryta (325 GSM, bright white, high gloss) and am not sure which media type to select. I have imported the ICC files for Hahnemuhle and am using the one for Fine Art Baryta, but this seems unrelated to “media type.” Is there a guide of some sort matching Canon paper types to others’ or another good way of making this determination. And, finally, does it really matter to print output? Thanks for your help.
Replying because I just had to figure this out on my own as well. To do this, I found that my paper brand has a "ICC profile" available on their website. You need to download this file. Then you download a canon driver called Media Configuration Tool. You import the downloaded file in that Canon MCT. Then you have to update the media files in the driver and then you have to update in the PP&L (file>other settings>update). Hope it helps anyone.
Thank you for the tip, so you don't have to design the arts on light room or photos hop before you can print with it? You just import the image/art to any of the tool and print through, correct? Also, can the pro 300 print upto 19 inches paper? Thanks
Thanks, one question, you print directly from the developing module using ppl, not exporting the file. resolution of the file ?. are preferences in lightroom for external aplications applied ?

Hi - thanks for checking out the video. Tricky if you're printing a scanned version of a painting. There's a lot that could affect the print but it comes down to the usual things of 1) Is the monitor calibrated 2) Are you using an ICC profile for that specific paper 3) What type of paper is it? 4) When dealing with a scanned image of something vibrant like a painting you may need to do some editing of the scan to bring the print version of it back up to that colour/vibrance (depending on the type of painting). Very difficult to advise much more remotely but if the print seems 'flat' then I suspect you may need to do that editing. Also depends on the scan resolution + what settings you're using to print etc etc! Lot's of variables I'm afraid :) Sam

I select more details and say "print with paper loaded" and it started. results looks very good; Do you know why it didn't want to recognize paper and didn't load it in printer ? It seems that the paper is not loaded into printer in USB mode (soft V1.3.6). I needed to manually change A4 platinum to KG 10x15 Glacé Extra II A. i did that and stored it and print from software is now working without error.

I have the same issue, would love to know if there's a solution!
@@debbiestelling5483 Hi Debbie! I just found that I downloaded the incorrect versión for my MacBook. It's not easy to really get into the correct link for each computer and system, in my case MacOsMonterrey. I found the correct one and the problem has solved.
@@bdbaeza1 Thanks for the tip Benjamin, unfortunately this didn't work for me. I also have Monterrey on a Macbook Pro and downloaded this version but it's not made any difference. Maybe with a future update it may decide to play ball! If you have the link where you downloaded it from that would be great!
Has anyone tied to use the stroke border in Lightroom and print with the Canon Professional Print and Layout plugin. The image will print fine, but the border will not
Hi Don, I'll have to look into this I know it work through Lightroom. Tim
My friends prints are being scratched as the come out :(
See if changing the height of the print head helps this. This can be found in the paper detail settings.
