The name Murir Tin has double meaning. Muri is "Puffed rice" and Tin means a container made of steel. so Murir Tin is a container where you keep your Puffed Rice. The thing Mithun Chakra was using as a percussion at the beginning of the track is actually a Murir Tin!
But it was also a cute name given to a type of colorful local bus back in the 80's and 90s because the conception used to be that they made the body of the bus by literally reforming and putting together lots of Puffed Rice containers and instead of puffed rice it contained passengers. it used to run in different regions of Bangladesh, very slow but packed with people. the bus fare used to be the cheapest. which was why it was very popular among the public.
The song is about the things that happen or the conversations that takes place in the bus. no matter where the bus is at, they are the same. unifying the regions. you also see/hear lot of things happening simultaneously both in the song and on the stage, kind of chaotic in nature. the real scenario while you are riding that bus is also the same. i think they absolutely nailed the essence of being a passenger in a Murir Tin.
The song here was sung in Bangla but in three different regional dialects.
Though it is tough to say these languages are dialects. It seems almost new languages. Even we Bangali had to look at the subtitles to understand the lyrics! The Khulnaiya dialect is little bit close to the standard Bangla.
Intro and the hook - Chatgaiyan(Chittagong division),
1st Rap - Sylheti(Sylhet division),
2nd Rap - Khulnaiya(Barisal division).
The song in three different dialects also bears a different feel to the people of Bangladesh because it's the month of international mother language day. on 21st February 1952 lots of people gave their lives to protect their mother tongue(Bangla). the government armed forces opened fire on the unarmed public who were protesting against the government for trying to make Urdu the national language where majority of the people in undivided Pakistan spoke Bangla.
The song has four perspective, first singer is the passanger who become annoyed with bus and journey, the background vocal is helper who helps people to ride on or off from bus instructs driver about front, 2nd singer (Sylhet guy) is conductor who collects fare and arrange passanger inside the bus and third one (Toufiq) is the bus driver who complaints on road and passanger.... Its typical for us.

This is what people face when people travel through local buses in Bangladesh. we can relate with every single sentence of this song..
If we say, literally it’s a tribute to our mother tongue by coke studio Bangla to our Mother Language Day or International Mother Language Day 21st February by combining the three dialects (Chatgaiya- local language of Chottogram- Eastern part of Bangladesh, Shylotee- the local language of Sylhet, which one of the ancient form of Bozrobuli, Bengali language form- North-Eastern part of Bangladesh, and last of all Khulnaia- local language of the people of Khulna /Shatkhira- southern part of Bangladesh) Bangla is the only language of the world for which we have a movement in 1952 and some heroic sons sacrificed their lives by gun shot against the then Pakistani autocratic government. So, it's a homage to those for whose sacrifice now we can speak Bangla as our state language. @Sunny, I think you will be astonished to hear about our language movement if you googlise throughout the internet. Costume is colourful because it was dropped at the day of "Pahela Basanta" or 1st day of spring in Bangladesh. (Bengali month "Falgun" which starts spring season in Bangladesh). Also Bangladesh is the only country to have 6 seasons in a year. Grishma (Summer),
Barsha (Rainy), Sharat (Autumn), Hemanta (Late Autumn), Shhet (Winter), Bashanta (Spring).
Murir Tin is actually a Rectangular Pot made of Tin (Thin Metal) to keep Muri (Puffed Rice). In Bangladesh, we actually refers Old Rusty Small Local Buses to Murir Tin as even this buses are small and not in good shape or condition they will take as many passengers as possible (twice or trice to the number of seats available) on these buses same like stuffing a pot with puffed rice till it has any space left. This song tells the story of local bus rides which we all middle-class Bangladeshi can relate to, have had experiences of this in our everyday life.
Even every Bangali can't understand "chatgaya" language (the language used in the song)! Only those who are from Chittagong root can understand chatgaya language...

The colour you mentioned in the beginning it represent the colourful spring season which have started on the very same day of this song published.
I think knowing a few things would make the song funnier
Boddarhat-chowkbazar-anderkilla-newmarket: The conductors call out the stoppage names to get more passengers.
Going to the rear: There are so many people on board that it gets impossible to get a seat, so a lot of them gotta stand in between the seats. But a few would cluster around the entrance making it seem like there's no space to stand.
Chuijhal curry: a special curry belonging to the southwest region of BD.
There's like a ton of easter eggs for the general Bangladeshi listeners. Especially if you've ridden public buses. They're loud, overcrowded, chaotic.

This song is used in three languages. The whole song is in Chittagonian language song, and the first rap is in Sylheti language, the second rap is in Khulna (Bengali) language.

Murir Tin - are the old rusty anytime accident can happen type local buses of Bangladesh. Even though there are no health and safety checks or drivers can care less; only hope for them is the GOD. To be honest even GOD or Angels will NOT take these buses. Not only the rusty buses but the roads are also quite dangerous. However, things are changing these days or so I hope 😂🙂🙏
