Omg... some people here are so rude that it's unbelievable. They need to find some kinda outlet to vent their frustrations out, I guess 😂 so much for doing free vids and trying to help. I definitely find your vids useful. Too much info is better than too little, especially when it comes to electrical equipment. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌
haha I know, and these are just the ones that make it past Yousubes filters, you should see some of the comments that are auto deleted, people really have no boundaries on the internet. However, the positive thing is that 99% of the comments are still positive or at least constructive, like yours, so I try not to pay too much attention to those 1% :D
Thanks Sam. Just found your channel while doing some research to improve my lawn care knowledge. I have watched a few of your videos now and will continue to watch them all 👍. Keep up the good work and helpful tips. Thanks Sam.
Makita DUM604ZX costs around 60eur and it's great. I use the scissors for cutting grass in corners, around fence poles and trees, where my mower can't reach. The hedging attachment is plenty powerfull but it's hard to get an even cut because of it's short length. For edging I use Wolf-Garten multi-star RB-M and it works great but you need a hard surface oposite to grass.
Hi Ivan, for sharing this, was really curios how the Makita would work, but over here it cost 120 euros, but that one is 18v right? That would work awesome I imagine, the problem with this one is that it's just too weak. But then again I think 120 euros for what it does is maybe a bit too much for me.
Thank you for explaining honestly. I have to make the decision for the littel lawn in front of my town house, and it looks useles, no matter how small the lawn is.
I have the Sun Joe grass and hedge trimmer with pole. I used it for the first time the other day. Today I used it for 3 hours. I trimmed where you’d normally use the weed whacker around gardens, fences, etc. I was pleased with it. It’s not perfect, there is a method. I love that you can change the position of the trimmer if you want it at a 90 degree angle or 45 degree angle.
Afther long time use you have to sharp the blade cuting wet grass, dirt, hiting rocks can damage the blade & doesen’t work the same, also some oil between them & full charge battery improves the cutting
Hey mate, the cutting wasn't really the problem, I just don't see the point between using this over a string trimmer to be honest. Not sure what I would do with it.
@@SamsLawn I also have the string trimmer, but my shear is a raider 7.2V I can use it under benches, but I also cuted small growing trees, still it uses a sponge to not let things get inside, so a bit of seeds infiltrated to the spining mecanism witch it's made from plastic.
Thanks for the demo, Buddy. What if you are to use the grass shears very close to gravel edging or concrete slabs ? Will it break the blades if it comes in contact with gravel or paving??😅
Thanks mate! I actually caught some smaller rocks while using it, the blades were fine, but if you do it continuously, I bet they wont last. But Gardena usually make pretty sturdy stuff, even if I can´t make sense of why you would need one of these :)
@SamsLawn - I treated myself to one of these. It's better than doing it manually. The lawn edges look 10000 times better than before and takes just 10mins or less. I hope it'll serve me for a long time :)
@SamsLawn - I've got a Bosch strimmer. My neighbour who borrowed it calls it "aggressive" lol. It's wire runs out so quickly, and I struggle finding the replacement plus it's too loud, and I always worry about the damages it might cause by pelting stones at my neighbour's or my property :(
@S_M_20117 that's actually a good point, didn't think about that aspect at all, that the grass sheers are a safe and non.aggressive way to cut the grass around the edges, much like a cylinder mower and rotary mower. Thanks for the info!
I have a small farm and I need to cut closely around fruit trees. After our wet rainy season my is up to 6’ high with tough steams. I was hoping your review would include some thick rank grass cutting. Just cutting small tame grass is not much of a test.
Well, it might be more useful for cutting through tough stems but other than that I really don't see that this thing is more useful than a good string trimmer to be honest. I used it on what I have available around my lawn, unfortunately I do not have anything with tough stems. Hope you find another video showing that. Thanks for dropping by Mike.
@@barbarabrougham3467 Hi Barbara, replacing hand clippers actually makes a lot more sense, didn't even think of that, that could be a very good use for them. But then I would get the cheapest ones I can find no matter the brand, I bet they are all made in the same factory but have different branding, so it shouldn't matter. 😊
I ended up buying a Makita grass shears. I couldn’t really tell if it was the strongest one but it looked like it was the best one out there for strength and durability. I used it some around the trees that I have with the thick stems and it cuts through them OK. Is will not cut through tougher weed stems larger than 3/16”. I am older too and that is why i went the power tool route. Better to wear out a tool than me.
Hey Mate, glad you found it helpful and I am glad you didn't get one, I really don't see the point of one of these, for me it's just wasted money I would say.
Did u found some better solution ... I hv it already but only hand one and wanted to but one with wheels but just happed to see your vedio 😅now I don't know what should I do .. Please suggest🙏🙏🙏
Hey Mate, I understand your dilemma here, I really wanted these to work but I still can't see how they are more useful than a normal string trimmer. So I would go with a string trimmer any day and now I got some nice stone edges to not shoot in stones on the lawn instead :)
The Stihl one is very good on small Boxwood balls and Cedars shaped in some way. I have one but use the tiny hedge blade most often to cut back small areas when perennial plants fade and cutting back hanging baskets plants in late summer. It's limit is the space between the teeth is very small. I will go watch the edging video now!
I have a very old black & decker electric one lying in my garage, had belonged to my mother. Didn't even know what it was until seeing your video.lol However, decided to try it out yesterday. Honestly didn't think much of it, could it be a bit blunt now.?
Hey, never actually heard of these machines being blunt, I mean, they are not sharp to begin with. Maybe the motor has weakened over time or it just wasn't set low enough? Did it not take or what happened when you used it?
du glömde att förlänga skaftet :) den passar perfekt när man har gräs imot trall och blomlådor. funkar bättre än trimmer som lägger ner gräset åt ett håll oftast.
Hey mate, I agree, trying to learn how to structure the videos and too long before I get into it is definitely something I need to work on, but I am learning as I go along. Thanks for dropping by
Hey Mike, not sure I would go that far but I really don't see the point of it, not sure what to use it for and it definitely doesn't replace a trimmer.
Yeah, I took too long before using it, agree. Still fairly new to making videos and review, learning as I go along. Definitely will keep that in mind for the next review.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience , was really curious to know how the sun joe works, glad you are pleased with it 😊
Mine worked for 2 seconds then died. Horrible product!!
The word soccer is actually from England. It was formed from Association Football in order to differentiate it from Rugby Football.
Hmm had no idea, thanks for that clarification Damian, I always thought it was an American English word.

Use it for hedges. The extension handle doesn't extend further 😮. It's better than doing it by hand scissors.
Maybe for smaller hedges this would be perfect. But for the bigger hedges I have I would rather use something bigger.

Do they make one with a longer handle? Leaning over would kill my back in less than an hour.
Hey mate, the handle on this one can be extended, I am just stupid and saw that AFTER I filmed everything 😅
@@SamsLawn good, I was hoping that it had that option
Thanks for your input. I may not get this machine.
Thanks for watching, I was hoping I would find uses for it but I still can't, just feels like a trimmer does everything it does and better.
The Stihl one is the dogs dangley bits.
😂 good thing I didn't find one of those!

haha fan, hade hoppats att ingen skulle se det, såg det sen när jag redigerade att jag kunde nog gjort det 😂
Another nice video...I've used similar shears but now use some fiskers long handle shears to trim edges...
Were any fingers lost during filming 😉
haha no fingers were harmed in this production 😂
six minutes and 30 seconds until the action started is way too long for me, had to fast forward vigorously
Hey mate, I agree, trying to learn how to structure the videos and too long before I get into it is definitely something I need to work on, but I am learning as I go along. Thanks for dropping by
No way I would ever use that. I do landscaping and no way would I ever use that. String edger is more powerful and way faster
For sure mate, agree 100%, feels nice to hear that a landscaper also doesn't see the point of the thing.
You definitely need some garden edging.
I definitely do Richard 😅, let's see if I go the metal edge route come spring.
This absolutely don't work for hedging, not enough power. I have a similar one, but corded, pretty much a waste of money in my case.
Yeah, it kinda felt like it would if I bought one. Not sure I would use it at all for anything to be honest
BS! I bought one and charged it for 7 hours. The green light came on and it worked for 2 seconds the died!! It is a horrible product!!!

well what do you play soccer with then, your hands? 😂
haha still feet but American FOOTballl is not really played with your feet ;)
